Do you have a pet at home?

We have 3 dogs, an Exmoor lurcher, we've had from a puppy, a Staffy (son couldn't keep him, so we did !) and a long haired Chihuahua, ( sick daughter's ).
We walk them around our local Nature reserve everyday, going to the Beach when it's nice, ( Chihuahua doesn't like the stones !!) . They make us laugh and have been great in Lockdown. But they do seem to miss seeing the grandchildren. The 2 cats just treat us like servants as usual !

I grew up with dog's as my Dad always had German Shepherds and I absolutely love pets - of all types!
My Rottweilers are the most affectionate, funny, gentle dogs I've ever owned. They love everyone and everything however due to media hype and the perspective of many people, we have to fight a little to change people's view of them.
My Jack Russell on the other hand is a little madam who bullies the big ones! She actually sleeps on them .

At times life has been very hard for me and having my pets has been the thing that's got me through many difficult times.

I have a 12 year old tabby cat who is very loving

We have a very noisy and naughty sausage dog. He is 8 and we love him to bits. He hates rain and getting wet so walking is often a challenge until he forgets about it.

I had to have my little Jr put to sleep last October, and I've been so lonely without her. I'm hoping to be able to find a rescue dog as soon as we're allowed to meet up.
Yes, a dog is a great companion.

I have a miniature dachshund called Bertie, he’s 18 months old and my third dacsy. He is a timid little soul but very loving. He makes me venture out for a walk each day, though I think he’d rather stay home and cosy.

I don't have any pets and when I retire in a couple of years I am hoping to have a dog I work full-time and don't like the idea of leaving a dog home alone I do miss having a dog as always had a dog in the family when my children were younger

Always had dogs. Since a child, never been without one, terriers, labradors, lurchers, beagles, border terriers and bassets, Not all at the same time!

Now just one much loved lurcher, aged 12. A reason to get up and go out.

Love her to bits, great company, if only she could talk, or perhaps not!!!

We have two Romanian rescue dogs. They’ve been with us for 5 years this month. When they came at first they were terrified of everything but are much better now. They’ll never be “normal” dogs but it’s been so rewarding watching them gain trust. They’re pretty cheeky and spoilt now!

Our dog is 11 and really does brighten up the house. She gets me out every day for a walk and is good company. Drove us mad as a puppy but we would not be without her.

Dee, Rotties are much misunderstood, I agree. The biggest, softest lump of a dog I've ever known was a Rottie called Rosie. She loved children - but it was so sad as when my friend walked her, people with kids would invariably cross the road or go out of their way to avoid her. They are lovely dogs.

Our little 6 year old cross breed dog has kept us amused over the last year. He means that one or both of us has to have a walk twice daily. He too recognises words such as walk, treat or bedtime. Absolutely loves the snow and is completely giddy in it. I was never a dog person and the only two we have owned have come from family who were needing to re-home them. DD laughs about how soft we are now!

I live in sheltered flat, i am disabled, housebound but we are not allowed any animals at all. I have had dogs almost all my life until now. It is especially hard right now as because I am housebound I do not see anyone as with the lockdown no visitors are allowed. I so miss having a dog, it would help with the loneliness.

I have 2 West Highland Terriers. Tilly came to me from Westies Rescue 5 1/2 years ago. She had been a breeding dog in kennels which were closing due to owners ill health. Hattie I have had for 1 1/2 years also from Westies Rescue. They are great company and make me laugh at their competiveness every day. They compete for cuddles, food, attention. I am often asked if they get on well. The answer is they tolerate each other usually but you couldn't say they were the best of friends. I love them both and don't know how I would have managed lockdown without them. They are my reason to get out of bed in the morning, and walk and talk to strangers outside the house.

We have three rescues; two dogs and a cat. I don’t know whether their pasts have any bearing on their devotion, but it appears to be limitless.

I absolutely adore them in return.

We have an adorable Springer Spaniel call Gypsy. She is our third springer and like Springers in general she just loves life. Love her to bits. Plus we have two beautiful Norwegian Forest Cats named Odin and Elrik. I am 69 years old and have never in all those years been in a house without a pet. When I left home at 20 I took my pet budgie with me. The pets we have now are all young but when they go I will get an old rescue black cat that can sit on my knee and keep me company.

I have a 6 year old Westie called Archie. My husband wouldn’t get one until he retired. He died 3 years ago so it is just me and Archie. He is the last thing I see at night ( he sleeps in his bed in my room) and he is the first thing I see in the morning. He is my little pal and companion and I would be lost without him.

We have a 12 week old red Labrador who is a real monkey at times, as well as being sharp of tooth and claw. She must think she is a sheepdog as she likes to nip our heels!Training is a work in progress but she does go all night and is almost house trained. When she’s tired herself out she loves a cuddle and a tummy rub and often sleeps lying on her back. Last inoculation tomorrow and then we can go walkies.

My Archie

We have 4 cats & I would not be without them- especially at this time spending so much time indoors. They are a constant source of amusement.
We used to have dogs too but to be honest I am quite glad not to have them now as I don't fancy 2 walks a day in this snow- I like to look at it from indoors!

I have two Cairn terriers. Lovely little dogs so full of fun. One is five years old and the other one two. I would be lost without them. I also have a cat that thinks she is a dog.

Here are our lovely cats who bring laughs and love to our home every day. There's also another black one but it will only let me upload 3 images, and she looks virtually identical to her black sister pictured here anyway! :-)

We have a jack Russell/pomeranian. He is 9 years old. He is very good company - still wants to sit on our laps even though he's no longer lap sized. He is great with the grandchildren but not always so good with other dogs. We love him dearly

I have a large Golden Retriever who sits on my lap, lol - sometimes climbs on me in the night and how I don't notice 38kg of dog on me I have no idea? I wake eventually when my legs go numb!!

We have one large, hugely smelly dog who nobody told him he isn't a breed that sheds hair. He's 12 and creaky but still like a puppy when someone comes to the door...even burglars who stole my electric bike last month from our kitchen.
We also have 3 cats, one of whom is a hair dispenser big style. She is a Maine Coon and adorable but I wear a coat of her white hair wherever I go. The Maine Coon Cross is a purr machine whenever you go near her but can't sit still if you stroke her she gets so excited. The Ragdoll cross is addicted to my husband which is just as well because he drools as he purrs. ?. I'm thinking of training them all to be attack dogs as our dog is just not up to the job.
I wouldn't be without them, I'd just like to shave them! ?

I am desperate to have a dog and have been searching non stop for some time. Unfortunately because of lock down and everyone wanting a dog, the prices are now unbelievably high and re-homing centres closed. Hopefully one day soon I will find myself a lovely little pooch.
