I did manage to walk and do a small shop , having looked at online and the limits as to having to spend in order to shop plus charges .
When the supermarket is less than 5 minutes walk away , also chance to try out the excempt face mask situ.
Take Care,

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -9 with blue skies. Sar that's such good news about your daughter. It cheered me up. Yesterday was a nothing day. My motivation hit rock bottom and stayed there. My WhatsApp chat with friends didn't happen either. My plan today is to try to clear snow from the path and dig out the car. My son is coming for dinner tomorrow and I'm making him mushroom stroganoff and tiremesu so I will have to trudge to Aldi for the ingredients in the morning. Apart from snow clearing,I have nothing planned for today. I hope you all have a good day.

All good news, Marydoll, glad all is ok. Dollie was wonderfully cheering to everyone. It’s amazing how heartwarming children’s antics are.
What a wonderful DD at al.
Long may the ☀️ Sun smile on you all. Carpe diem indeed

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is -8°C. Brrrr! ❄
What great news, Sar!, it's been a difficult time for you and your family.

I had such a busy day yesterday, what a contrast to the previous two days. I emailed our councillor about our missing grit bin, registered for postal voting , emailed my dentist with my new consultant's details, and organised my MOT. On checking the mileage, I have only done 345 miles since the last service!!!!

I was upstairs pottering and came downstairs to see bags of shopping lying in the kitchen, but no-one there. The best part, was, there were cakes!!!
I looked out and my DD and SIL were clearing the road of snow and salting and gritting it, because they were afraid I would not get for my vaccination. We live in a cul de sac on a hill, with a roundabout at the top and often we can be stuck for days. Our grit bin has disappeared and they had to walk to the main road for grit. They had been afraid DH would attempt it.
By the time they finished, they had cleared the whole road of eight houses and the driveways of my neighbours who are unable to do so. My neighbours were overwhelmed by their thoughtfulness. I was so proud of them. The grit lorry arrived hours later and the driver's face was a picture of puzzlement, as the main stretch of road was covered in snow, but our street just looked wet!

The icing on the cake was a Zoom chat with Dollie. It was show and tell time. It was hilarious, as she was pretending to be a teacher and using all my stock phrases. DH and I were in stitches.
I took my tablet to the front door and she had a chat with DD and SIL, with neighbours all shouting greetings and waving.
Then the postman arrived and had a chat with her. His wife was her nursery teacher and has a soft spot for Dollie.
Dollie couldn't contain her excitement at performing for her adoring public.

Finally, I got my vaccination, the Oxford one. I sussed out that somehow I had slipped through the net and have now permission to chase up the next dose, if I am not contacted before twelve weeks are up.
I was a bit anxious because there was a gentleman, sitting in the waiting room with no mask. We were in and out in ten minutes, so not much to ask, to at least attempt to wear one or a visor.
I made sure I sat well away from him. Not fair to the shielders being vaccinated, nor the doctor treating him. That's how my friend's granddaughter caught Covid, from an elderly patient who refused to wear a mask, when being treated.

As for no alcohol before and after vaccination, DH has taken this on board, but is finding it difficult! I'm delighted.

DH has done nothing but fuss. He woke me up to ask if I was OK and did I have any side effects? I'm absolutely fine, apart from a bad headache. I can live with that and am enjoying the pampering from normally, taciturn DH! ?

Have the best day you can folks. Wishing those who are struggling, a gentle day. ? Remember, Carpe diem, you don't know what is around the corner and I have been round a lot of corners lately!

Good Morning all. Very frosty in M. Bucks.

Wonderful news about your daughter Sar.

I have a breast scan appointment this morning. Not looking forward to that. The good thing is DD1 lives one road away from the hospital so I will have a driveway chat with her afterwards. I had a very wobbly day yesterday so that will cheer me up.

DH has a vax appointment for tomorrow. Hoppmine won’t be long now.

Hope you all find a ? today.

Beauregard Thu 11-Feb-21 08:01:28

Good morning all from Derbyshire. It's -2 here - not as cold as forecast and there is just a light frost on the cars. I made the decision not to do my usual early shop this morning and go later because we were expecting it to be worse than yesterday, but it isn't. We haven't done the meal plan yet for the shopping list, so I will be going later this afternoon instead.

My bubble brother visited yesterday and fitted a dimmer switch to a light that was a bit too bright. He only lives up the road but we don't see him very often, although he's suggested we have a takeaway together soon. I think he's paying but he hasn't quite managed to say the words ?

Great news about your DD Sar.
What sweet guinea pigs Scentia.

Have a good day everyone.

Pittcity Thu 11-Feb-21 08:01:03

Good morning from frozen Colchester. Below freezing all day and DH has gone fishing!
I will change the bed linen and mop the floors. Beef stew tonight.

cornergran Thu 11-Feb-21 07:55:16

Morning Mick, morning All from a clear, cold corner of Somerset. -4 outside. Nice and warm inside.

Wonderful news sar, it’s so hard when we can’t see family and illness comes. Good to hear the vaccinations keep coming, hope marydoll slept well after hers.

A bits and pieces morning for me, feed the washing machine, finish the dust removal, think about some financial stuff if I can find enough concentration, soup to make for lunch then a phone chat with a good friend to look forward to.

Look after yourselves everyone, stay warm.

Aldom Thu 11-Feb-21 07:42:08

Sar53 So happy to hear the good news. Wishing your daughter well. flowersflowers

Dwmxwg Thu 11-Feb-21 07:41:23

•Sar53• fantastic news. We have a young family member who was diagnosed with bowel cancer several years, after going through treatments she was given the all clear and is now expecting a baby.
•Scentia• my DGSs love your guinea pigs

brook2704 Thu 11-Feb-21 07:40:56

Good morning everyone from Inverness, the weather app says it’s -12 outside and forecast to stay well below freezing for most of the day. Think we’ll just get the log burner going and make some soup and home made bread.
Such brilliant news Sar I’m so pleased for your DD and hope you can stop worrying quite as much now and you get to give her that giant hug before too long
Yesterday DH went sledging with DD2 and the DGC, I think he enjoyed it the most - such a kid at heart! I think he could start a new sport of grandad sledging ?
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles and hope today is gentle, take care all whatever the day brings ?

12Michael Thu 11-Feb-21 07:39:54

Yes , I felt safe without the mask in the supermarket , but I got a few looks , but with the lanyard around my neck, it was OK .
Mind you I shopped safely and got back safely.
Mick

Nannagarra Thu 11-Feb-21 07:38:01

Good morning from the Sefton coast where there is frost but no snow; it is minus 3 degrees. Vivid pink clouds slowly drift across a topaz blue sky.
Good news from Marydoll about the vax and the baby. ?for Sar53 and ?for her DD.
Onwards and upwards. ???

Gagagran Thu 11-Feb-21 07:34:18

Morning all from a still very chilly south coast. -2.1c first thing. We have a lovely clear sky and the sun is coming up. It's forecast to warm up a bit gradually from now on. Thank goodness.

Really good news about your DD Sar53. Hopefully she will go on to make a good recovery. We are still waiting for DH's second operation which was cancelled the day before it was scheduled for, 21 December, due to the new lockdown about to be announced. He still has two ops. to face to restore him to working order but copes with stoicism and humour.

Highlight of the week today - green bin day which is the recycling bin. Our bin men have never missed a day throughout the whole pandemic. I think they are unsung heroes along with the supermarket staff who have kept us fed.

Keep warm everyone and stay safe. sunshine

Susan56 Thu 11-Feb-21 07:22:50

Good morning from Shropshire where it is very cold and very frosty.?

Sar, what brilliant news to start the day with. What a relief for you all.It must have been so difficult dealing with it for you all not being able to be together.I really hope you can see each other soon.

Scentia, you may get your vaccination earlier than you think. We had a call last night to go this morning, hence my early posting!DH is 66 and I am 60 although I have several underlying health conditions.

Cherry,I hope you are ok and had a restful night and Mary hope you had a restful night too.

Thinking of Auntieflo and Georgesgran.

Have a good day all and stay safe.

Scentia Thu 11-Feb-21 07:06:47

Sar53. That is such good news about your DD ?

Sar53 Thu 11-Feb-21 07:03:33

Good morning from Essex by the sea where we have had more snow in the night and it is very cold.
Thursday is our supermarket day but not sure if the car will get out of the car park. DH will try it later.
Just before Christmas DD2 was diagnosed with cancer, this came out of the blue and was such a shock to us all. Two weeks ago she had a second operation together with the removal of lymph nodes. Yesterday we had the wonderful news that the cancer hasn't spread.
It has been an incredibly stressful time for us all. None of us has seen each other for 6 months and it's hard to hug via Zoom. She will have check ups every 3 months but hopefully everything will be fine.
Sorry for the 'novella' but I wanted to share our brilliant news.
Have a good Thursday everyone and stay safe and warm xx

Scentia Thu 11-Feb-21 07:00:48

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and feels very cold.
I made real chips last night for our anniversary dinner and DH was very pleased, I also made a vegan banoffie pie and boy it is so sweet, we could only manage a spoonful!!
I managed to get out and pick up DGS and take him out for an hour to give him a change of scenery. DSiL is home so I don’t visit like I would when he is away as DD does not need the help and support. DSiL asked DD if I didn’t like him but she explained why I didn’t go in when he was home!
The lady I am getting my Guinea Pigs from sent me a picture last night, they are 4 weeks old now and I collect them on the 27th Feb. I am so excited to be getting a pet again, I need to look after things!
It is such good news that so many on here are vaccinated now and I think mine will be at least the end of March.
DH is buying me a treadmill for our gym, no excuses about weather, covid etc etc as to why I am not going out and exercising!!
Take care Goodmorningers and stay happy, safe and upright❤️?

Urmstongran Thu 11-Feb-21 06:41:52

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s dark and seems cold as some cars parked on the main road downstairs have a frosty windscreen. I slept well last night. Since cutting right back on my wine days to just 2 a week I sleep so much better.

Himself is still snoozing- he had his Oxford AZ jab yesterday lunchtime. So far, so good anyway.

We plan to go over to see my stepfather today and take his groceries. I can understand you not shopping on line for one Mick with a charge for delivery.

The hygienist appointment went well yesterday, I feel as though I’ve got new shiny teeth. When he started the session, he was counting gum recession numbers out loud to the dental nurse ... ‘3,2,2’ .. ‘2,2,4’ etc. This went on for a couple of minutes and as he finished the top set I called out ‘House!’. Made them both laugh anyway.
?

Hope Thursday is good to us all. Half term next week here in Trafford & we’re hoping to see the grandchildren in the park on a couple of the days. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Dwmxwg Thu 11-Feb-21 06:40:58

Good morning Mick and all GMs from a dark, cold north Surrey.
Aschcombe glad to hear you get your vaccination today and hope Marydoll you had a good night after yours.
The boys were lovely last night. We usually sit in the bed and I read bedtime stories but they wanted to tell me a story each. Youngest, aged 6, told me all about the Great Fire of London which he has been learning in schools. The elder, age 9, made up a very strange story about aliens, at the end he said “this story is going nowhere granny” and then we had the giggles. We will all be wrapping up warm with our thermals for the walk to school this morning.
My day to visit mum and dad, just hope with the freezing temperatures I can get into my car, the door was stuck the other evening when it was minus 2 and I am sure it is lower today.
School pick up this afternoon then I will drop them with mum and have a couple of hours with DH before coming back to take over so she can go to work.
Georgegran you and your DH have been in my thoughts. To all a warm, cosy Thursday

Bellasnana Thu 11-Feb-21 06:35:03

Good morning from Malta where it is blowing a gale this morning.

I’ve been up since 5.30 am to watch the tennis from Australia. Am also puppy-sitting today so had to be up early for him.

Interesting about the alcohol, Ashcombe. I gave it up four months ago. Don’t feel any better for it but I just stopped enjoying the taste of it. Hopefully my liver is grateful.?

Hope everyone has the best day possible. Stay safe and warm.☀️

Nell8 Thu 11-Feb-21 06:34:54

Good Morning, Mick. It's lovely to meet you for the first time. Here in Surrey it feels like -7 degrees. The dawn chorus is starting up and the bin men will be along shortly. It's a welcome sound after a sleepless night! Planning to do some family history research today and to contact a couple of friends I haven't been in touch with for a while. Keep warm, everyone.

Beechnut Thu 11-Feb-21 06:34:26

I’d better put my gin bottle away then Ashcombe as they are moving into my age group where I live ?

grandMattie Thu 11-Feb-21 06:33:08

Good morning from a crisp, cold E Kent. We had another 1” of snow in the late afternoon and the temperatures won’t be getting above freezing today.
I got a text from DD saying that Iris’ next operation will be on Wednesday. Only two nights in hospital this time. It’s for the leg lengthening this time, now that her calf muscles are long enough and strong enough to to cope with the stretching of the bone. I’ll give you more news when I get it.
Marydoll, it’s wonderful news about your friend’s baby. And your vaccination. I hope no side effects. All looking up now.
Another good thing is that we’re hurtling towards the equinox. The days are longer, the nights shorter. Spring is on its way!
Having half a Spanish lesson as I’m going to the dentist today, I always make sure I go first, so Himself can pay! ?
Be of good cheer today, be gentle with yourselves, stay safe.

Beechnut Thu 11-Feb-21 06:32:23

Good Morning everyone from Severnside where it’s cold with a sprinkling of snow.

My spring clean plan for yesterday turned out to be all talk. I sat down in my bay window to have my elevenses and it was sunny with snow flurries so I thought I’d read my book and look up to some blue sky occasionally.

I do have a few things potter wise to do today and a walk to the mail box.

While waiting for my chamberpot to brew just now one thought led to another and I wondered if anyone keeps pigeons these days?

Did you feel safe with no mask Mick?

Take care and stay safe and warm all ?

Ashcombe Thu 11-Feb-21 06:24:53

Good morning Mick and the morning gang from Torbay where another light dusting of snow is likely to be washed away by drizzle. I do hope our members in Eastern counties are coping with the freezing temperatures on top of snow. ❄️

I’m delighted to share the news that yesterday, I was contacted by my surgery to have my vaccination at our local centre this afternoon. Some research online led me to this interesting information:-

Dr Sim continues: “...........as far as alcohol is concerned, we advise that you consider not drinking for two days before, and up to two weeks after you've been vaccinated, to try to ensure your immune system is at its best to respond to the vaccine and protect you. But it's really important to know that, even if you do drink, you'll still benefit from having the jab, so please don't turn it down.”

www.drinkaware.co.uk/professionals/press/drinkaware-issues-precautionary-advice-about-alcohol-and-the-covid-19-vaccine

I’ll take up the challenge and keep you posted! Please take care in the icy ?conditions and keep warm and well. ?
