Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is -8°C. Brrrr! ❄
What great news, Sar!, it's been a difficult time for you and your family.
I had such a busy day yesterday, what a contrast to the previous two days. I emailed our councillor about our missing grit bin, registered for postal voting , emailed my dentist with my new consultant's details, and organised my MOT. On checking the mileage, I have only done 345 miles since the last service!!!!
I was upstairs pottering and came downstairs to see bags of shopping lying in the kitchen, but no-one there. The best part, was, there were cakes!!!
I looked out and my DD and SIL were clearing the road of snow and salting and gritting it, because they were afraid I would not get for my vaccination. We live in a cul de sac on a hill, with a roundabout at the top and often we can be stuck for days. Our grit bin has disappeared and they had to walk to the main road for grit. They had been afraid DH would attempt it.
By the time they finished, they had cleared the whole road of eight houses and the driveways of my neighbours who are unable to do so. My neighbours were overwhelmed by their thoughtfulness. I was so proud of them. The grit lorry arrived hours later and the driver's face was a picture of puzzlement, as the main stretch of road was covered in snow, but our street just looked wet!
The icing on the cake was a Zoom chat with Dollie. It was show and tell time. It was hilarious, as she was pretending to be a teacher and using all my stock phrases. DH and I were in stitches.
I took my tablet to the front door and she had a chat with DD and SIL, with neighbours all shouting greetings and waving.
Then the postman arrived and had a chat with her. His wife was her nursery teacher and has a soft spot for Dollie.
Dollie couldn't contain her excitement at performing for her adoring public.
Finally, I got my vaccination, the Oxford one. I sussed out that somehow I had slipped through the net and have now permission to chase up the next dose, if I am not contacted before twelve weeks are up.
I was a bit anxious because there was a gentleman, sitting in the waiting room with no mask. We were in and out in ten minutes, so not much to ask, to at least attempt to wear one or a visor.
I made sure I sat well away from him. Not fair to the shielders being vaccinated, nor the doctor treating him. That's how my friend's granddaughter caught Covid, from an elderly patient who refused to wear a mask, when being treated.
As for no alcohol before and after vaccination, DH has taken this on board, but is finding it difficult! I'm delighted.
DH has done nothing but fuss. He woke me up to ask if I was OK and did I have any side effects? I'm absolutely fine, apart from a bad headache. I can live with that and am enjoying the pampering from normally, taciturn DH! ?
Have the best day you can folks. Wishing those who are struggling, a gentle day. ? Remember, Carpe diem, you don't know what is around the corner and I have been round a lot of corners lately!
