Are you clumsy?

I have clumsy days,one day i drop almost everything that ends up on the floor and spill wine like no-body`s business.
Then another day i don`t drop anything,the mind boggles.

I never was clumsy, but, over the last couple of years, I have become clumsy.
I know now that if I drop or fumble something, I am tired, but just hadn't realised it, so have to give in.

I am slightly dyspraxia and have always been uncoordinated. My main problem is a last of spatial awareness and often put objects down too close the the edge so they fall onto the floor. I now have arthritis in my fingers which prevents me from gripping things tightly which adds to my clumsiness!

My most recent “accident” was when making a cup of coffee. I fought the kettle on the spoon in the mug and knocked the mug over on the worktop. It’s amazing how far a mug of liquid can spread, it went underneath the microwave, up the wall and dripped all over the floor!

When I was in my 40s, I read an article about dyspraxia. Dyspraxia is to highly coordinated what dyslexia is to fluent reading. I was looking for help for DS who had my problems and more.

We saw a private practioner as, at the time, the NHS did not recognise the problem. I commented to her at some point that it must be genetic because I has similar problems. her comment was 'I had noticed'. I then had the same exercises therapy that had so helped DS. They helped me too, and both of us saw an improvement, but we are still both cackhanded and clumsy.

Yes, I am clumsy, but I was always the girl with the grazed knees. I thought it was normal.

Has anyone else got a burn ring on their arm just from taking a cake out of the oven? Those loose-bottomed cake tins are a menace.

hollysteers I'm really clumsy and an Aries to boot, didn't know they were connected. I don't think a day goes by without me bumping into something or breaking something. My husband says it's his life's work to go round behind me repairing things.

I only break things i or somebody else really cares about! Though I did just allow a pint of milk to slip out of my hands ?!

I wouldn’t say I’m clumsy as such but I’d love to know why I seem to spill things down or on any white or cream top I might be wearing at the time, but never seems to happen to dark colours ?

I just decided to paint a little candle to match the bedroom. When finished I looked for the brush to wash it but it had seemingly vanished into thin air.
Annoyed, I went to the loo and caught myself in the bathroom mirror. The brush was dangling deeply embedded in my hair. Had some nice blue streaks though! I'm Aquarius holysteers, scatty my middle name!

Although I wouldn't class myself as particularly clumsy I managed to spill boiling hot water over myself the other day.
I was so excited about going for my Covid vaccine that I didn't get a grip on my cup and the tea went straight down me.
I quickly ripped off my clothes and luckily have a downstairs shower so put it on cold and stood under for a good few minutes. My right knee was really bad, my left less so and I had a splash on my tummy. I knew I had to get across town for my jab so sat with a bag of frozen peas on my knee for a few minutes whilst I looked on the NHS web-site. It said to do what I'd done but also wrap the scald in cling film. You can imagine what that was like! I found a pair of loose trousers, took some painkillers and got in the car. I realised seatbelts aren't good on tummy scalds! I arrived at the clinic a bit flustered where it was assumed I was very nervous. I told them I'd scalded myself so if I flaked out they would know why my leg was wrapped in cling film!
No serious harm done- my knees are fine but my tummy is still a bit sore. Need to take more care in future!

Too many to list Jen65 I’m constantly walking into thing, bumping into things, knocking things over. My neurosurgeon calls it ataxia, sounds much better than clumsy! You have to laugh ...

I’m clumsy and blame it on my Aries star sign (any excuse) I’m frightened of expensive collections of glass or china and when I performed in theatricals, my late husband was on pins on first nights when I appeared on stage, for fear of what I might do?

Clumsy is and always has been my middle name. If it can be dropped, spilled or knocked over then I'll do it. Some of my earliest memories are of my grandad shouting about me about his legs. He was gassed in WWI and the skin on his legs ulcerated so he was always in pain. No matter how I tried to avoid them I fell over them, kicked them or touched them in some other way.

My Auntie Lilian lived with my Grandma and Grandad. She didn't like me either. One morning, after I'd stayed the night, I asked Grandma why she didn't like me. Grandma said that Auntie Lilian was old fashioned and thought that little girls should be quiet and gentle. So we decided that I'd take her a morning cup of tea in bed to show I could be girl like. Grandma didn't have fitted carpets so on the floor was lino and a bed side rug. I carefully carried the cup of tea upstairs and into her room making sure that I didn't spill any into the saucer. I got within three feet of her. Was I on a winner? Of course not. The rug wasn't flat and because I was watching the tea so carefully I didn't notice. My foot caught in the rug and the tea ended up in Auntie Lilian's lap soaking the bedspread, blankets and sheets.

Just putting delivered shopping away earlier, rearranging the fridge, a hard plastic container of soft cheese pinged out. Container one way, cheese impaled halfway into a welly boot by the back door! Cheese and container now in bin.
