Good Morning Saturday

Good morning all from Derbyshire where where it's cold and dry again.

So many posters bringing news about their vaccine appointments is good to hear. DH received a text regarding his yesterday and has booked in for next Wednesday. It was a surprise as he is only 60 but we think he may have been put in the at risk group as he had a minor heart scare a few years ago.

Not much planned today. The rugby is on earlier and clashes with the racing, so some of the rugby will be watched on plus one. Steak and mushrooms for dinner I think, nice and easy.

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, its -3°C here. We have the most beautiful sky.

For those of you, who didn't see my late post yesterday, my friend's granddaughter with Covid had a 9lb 5oz baby girl yesterday. Mum and baby, as well as can be expected, given the circumstances.
Thank you all for your prayers and best wishes, it has helped my friend enormously. She is recovering from bowel cancer and it has neen just the boost she needed.

Well, I haven't had a good reaction at all, to the vaccination, I was half expecting it, given past escapades and the fact my immune system is compromised.
I felt absolutely grim all day, nausea, dreadful stomach cramps, dizziness and hot flushes. However, no pain, no gain! I even turned down a Zoom with Dollie, I must have been bad!
Thank goodness my daughter unexpectedly appeared first thing to deal with the Tesco delivery, I couldn't have done it.
The downside is, I can't find anything and everything has been crammed into the fridge, willy nilly! !!?

DS and his fiancée phoned last night to check on me. I love hearing their plans for the Victorian cottage, which they bought during the lockdown. His fiancée is involved in the refurbishment of the Burrel Collection museum, it is so interesting listening to how it is progressing and what craft projects she has in hand. She is quite quirky, (which appeals to me, given my own personality), the latest is a Game of Thrones tapestry. I always feel uplifted when I chat to her.

I won't be doing much today, still feeling unwell, but much better than yesterday.
Good luck to all those having vaccinations today, don't worry, I think my reaction is down to my poor health. You will feel great, once its done.

Good morning everyone from Northampton where we have a lovely pink sunrise. It is very windy out. Just sitting with my mug of tea and some rich tea biscuits. I managed to get sourdough crumpets (after the recommendation on here) from Sainsburys and am looking forward to trying one later.

I was looking forward to watching Northampton Saints rugby this afternoon on tv, (even have my lucky socks ready!), but it has been cancelled due to Covid in the opposing team (Newcastle). I shall watch Six Nations instead.

I shall start to sew my new cardigan up today, and complete the neckband. Am already looking forward to starting a chunky-knit sweater with the new wool which arrived yesterday.

Finished my book-club read yesterday - The Man I Think I Know by Mike Gayle. I can thoroughly recommend it. Shall start on a Christie today for a change.

Pleased to read that many of you are getting your jabs, the more the merrier say I! Most people and family I know have been having theirs, so we shall soon get the better of this terrible illness, and treat it like seasonal flu (as reported on the radio this morning).

Morning Mick, morning All. Another cold start in Somerset. It seems there may be a little snow today, we’ve been left out so far.

Good blood test news urms. I’ve never had a PJ day Scentia, just don’t feel comfortable unless dressed when I’m up and about. Enjoy yours. Good to hear so many people reaching the top of the vaccine list.

A walk, post a couple of letters and a chat with friends this morning. No idea after that. Mr C is in charge of lunch so an easy enough day for me.

Good morning from sunny Colchester. It's our last day below freezing and the lying snow is starting to melt. Lots of icy patches on my short walk to Lidl yesterday.
Was surprised by DS as he came home for the 2nd weekend in a row. He is here for the week as a course has been cancelled.

A bit of a drama this morning as the heating won’t start, turns out that we’ve got a low voltage electrical fault in the area. Got really good responses from SSE via Twitter and a very friendly helper has assured me all will be fine by 9.30 so will see .... at least the internet is still working!

Today I’m planning to meet DD2 and the DGC at Brodie Castle, a local NT property for a walk around the grounds and a visit to the playground. That should cheer everyone up especially if I’ve a few sweets in my pocket ...

Good morning all from a grey and frozen Wiltshire, although not for much longer as, judging by the weather forecast, today is the last day of the freeze - yay - last day of frozen troughs and struggling to get all the livestock watered!?. Yesterday we finally got the barn emptied and cleared out so today I can start setting up the lambing pens. Every year it reminds me of the excitement of setting up for a big party, followed by the anxious wait to see if anyone turns up! With 160 ewes due to start lambing in the next week or so, I’m sure it’ll soon be standing room only! DH has very kindly gone to check round everything this morning giving me an extra half hour before I need to go out as he says I need to make the most of a lazy start before lambing starts so I’m having an extra cuppa before I get going - very indulgent!
I’m sorry to hear of lost mojos - I think that many of us have ‘hit the wall’ in this long, drawn out battle against COVID. I’m struggling so much with not seeing my lovely children and grandchildren for the last 6 months. Who would have thought a year ago what was ahead of us? On a positive note, the farm has never been so tidy and organised without the distraction of family coming to visit, but oh, how I miss them ?. Hey ho, Spring is nearly upon us and hopefully, better times ahead.

My first jag today. ?. I have been told those who are vaccinated by a GP are given the AZ vaccine and those whose appointment is at a hub are given the Pfizer vaccine here. As my appointment is at a local venue, I look forward to seeing familiar faces again. A pity we can’t have a celebration in the car park.?

Pleased to hear your medical team are looking after you so well Mick and your brother will be taking you for your appointment.

Good Morning all. Cold but no frost in N. Bucks.

I will be having my vaccination on Wednesday.

Dd3 and family have to be in town for an appointment this morning so we will have a driveway chat on their way back. They only live 8 miles away but we haven’t seen them live since November.. It’s strange that this week we have been able to have a live , if distanced chat with all 3 DDs. Will make the most of it as who knows when it will happen again.

Otherwise a local food shop and the usual sort of day.

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is freezing ?
I don’t intend to go out anywhere today, I am staying in my PJ’s all day.
I insulated the Guinea Pig hutch after work yesterday and today, if the Linen turns up I will start on the curtains. Just remembered I will have to drive to the factory to get a Stanley knife so I can finish putting the vinyl tiles on the base of the hutch, but I will go in my PJ’s no dressing required. Here in Burton on Trent it is quite acceptable to do that and you are still considered ‘quite posh’ as I always dress to go shopping ??
DH got a text to go for his vaccine and has an appointment tomorrow afternoon. He is now insisting that his heart condition is far worse than me only having 1 kidney as I haven’t yet been called. I said it’s because he is so much older??? (he isn’t!)

Good morning Mick and all, it is cloudy, windy and perishing cold here on the S Welsh coast. The heating is on and whilst the bedroom is warm, the ensuite was like walking into a fridge. Mr L has taken the puppy for a walk.
Still no side effects from our vaccines on Wednesday, I am glad as I had a very sore arm from the flu injection in the Autumn.
Ironing to do this morning, what joy, then I will wrap up and go for a walk. A fruit and veg delivery at some point, then sirloin steak, new pots and mushrooms to look forward to for supper.
I think my mojo must be hiding with yours grandMattie.

Good news on the thread towards health and new baby.

I heard my phone ringing yesterday. I don’t often answer but I almost ran down the stairs just in case and yes it was my surgery. I am going for mine on Tuesday. I just had chance to write it on the calendar and the doorbell rang. It was the boiler service. A FaceTime with my daughter later so all in all I had a good day.

Stay safe and it should warm up next week ?

Hope your vaccination goes well, Mick and everyone else who is having theirs today. I like your comment "Another day nearer release" NanKate. That's how I feel, and have been on high since my 1st vax. The uptake in our age group seems to be very high so we are all of the same mind. As you say GagaGran, the vax target looks like being achieved and it's been remarkable - something to be proud of.

Will be having an unexpected visit from my son this morning who's in my bubble as I live alone. Usually we have a garden visit but it's much too cold, plus he is going to move some furniture for me so will come into the house fully masked, and I will keep my distance. How I long to hug him. I know I will cry when eventually I can.

When I had my MOT at 70, I was furious to be told that I could be prediabetic, and my cholesterol was 0.1 above “normal”, so should go on statins etc. When re-done, both were normal as I thought, but it did make me very anxious

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s dry and although cold, there’s no ice about. The cars in the dark park behind the railway station aren’t iced up this morning. The sky is a fiery pink over to the east as the sun’s coming up, outlining the Pennines - always a good sign.

Great news to share from Urmston Towers - I don’t have diabetes (blood test done Tuesday) and I’m getting my first Covid jab next Wednesday lunchtime at a local ‘hub’ GP surgery.

My uncle rang yesterday from Oldham to tell me my 80y old aunt had her first jab on Wednesday - at home (she has severe agoraphobia this past 7y) done by the Army! Apparently a huge soldier came in, had to duck at the doorway, was as wide as he was tall and was gentleness and kindness itself.

Hope Saturday is good to us all and that you find your mojo again soon granMattie. You must be feeling a bit lost without it dear lady. I loved the amusing story Ashcombe a great start to the day! Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

I woke this morning thinking that it was Sunday and started planning the day in my head , then realised it was Saturday. It feels as though I have gained a day bonus day in my life which is great ?
Good news about your jab Mick and that you will have some company too.

I missed a call from my surgery on Thursday when I was at my voluntary job and it transpired that it was to invite me for a ‘last minute’ jab on Friday as they needed to fill the clinic. I’m in cohort 5 and wasn’t expecting it yet .
I’ll keep my phone to hand next week as it looks like I’m near the top of the list .

I’m making pea soup and cheese scones this morning for lunch, my veggie son’s favourite. It’s very difficult to buy pea soup without meat in it .

Football this afternoon on the radio , we really need to win this one . Longing to be able to go to matches again

Morning all from a still very cold south coast. -1.2c at 6am and only 18c indoors despite leaving the CH on at low overnight. I think it should start to get a bit less cold from tomorrow.

Yesterday DD and DGS came and collected our spare fridge, which is normally in the garage, with drinks in it. She has one of those wardrobe-sized double door fridges and this is the second time it has conked out. The small rescue fridge is at least 20 years old and still going strong. DH got it out onto the garden path before they arrived to collect it so we had no physical contact with them - just watched from the window as they got it into the car boot. 6ft3" DGS blew me a big kiss which made my day!

Pleased to see that the target of 15million vaccinations may well be achieved by today. I think it's a remarkable achievement and good to have something to feel positive about in this horrible pandemic.

Glad you are having the jab today Mick...had mine yesterday, the Pfizer one..Impressed with the well run and safe layout at the surgery.
My neighbour/friend still has come out of hospital, bladder cancer, hes a paraplegic so thankfully not feeling pain but is feeling weak and nauseous ,I'm praying that he comes home which is where he would want to be.
Very cold here in Bolton..a walk with my sister later to cheer me up...
