I have a job interview in 2 weeks which I would really love to get as it is more hours than I currently work, was really pleased to be asked for an interview but like with us all my hair really needs to be cut and coloured. I don't usually use home hair colours so a bit unsure if I should. Just feeling my hair will look awlful and I know they judge so much on appearance (one interview I went to when they rung to say I hadnt got the job they commented about my shoes not being suitable, so this has made me being more paranoid than normal. They were plain black flatish shoes). What would any of you do please? People have said to me they will understand as everyone is in the same situation. I can lay money someone being interviewed will live with a hair stylist.

Golly the shoe comment is pretty sexist! Good luck with your hair, I can’t help....mine looks as if I am demented.

I've discovered Henna and Indigo powder. And my hair is now a good chestnut brown and I love it. Also totally natural. It is a bit of a faff, no more than a box dye, and you can really experiment cheaply...

I have my hair coloured by the hairdresser to a dark brown but I am now completely grey so I've coloured my own during lockdown. Actually it's been remarkably easy, I went for a lighter brown and got OH to do the back for me. I'm also using a puff in colour to hide the regrowth in between. Give it a go and good luck with the interview.
