Whose poster did you have on your bedroom wall?
1966 (aged 15), mine was The Yardbirds.

HurdyGurdy Fri 19-Feb-21 23:07:52

Donny Osmond, Michael Jackson, David Cassidy, Bay City Rollers.

Mostly from Jackie magazine.

I got a poster free with a pair of Clark's Golden Dollies shoes. I had no idea who it was, but it went on the wall anyway. NOW, I can appreciate Robert Plant / Led Zeppelin, but at the time - not a clue!

Smokie - Chris Norman still does it for me!! I saw him in concert two years ago and he made a lady of a certain age feel like a teenager again!!

Harris27 Fri 19-Feb-21 22:48:38

David Essex and Donny osmond.

Jane43 - I agree. Elvis was an amazingly good looking man when he was young. I believe he had Red Indian (are we supposed to say that?) blood. So sad, what happened to him.

Ellianne

This is embarrassing. Marc Bolan.

Oh I remember when Marc died. Friends and I couldn't believe it,we walked to Barnes common and saw the crash site all cordoned off and flowers had been left.

I feel old, the people most of you have mentioned were popular when I was in my twenties. I did have pictures from fan magazines on my bedroom wall though. The most memorable one was a full body picture of Elvis, you collected a piece of his body each week then stuck them together. The house we lived in at the time was on a corner and my bedroom overlooked the road and so did our kitchen. One day my mother was in the kitchen and a woman and a young girl walked past, the young girl started to scream and my mother wondered what on earth was the matter. Then she saw she was pointing to my bedroom window, she could see my Elvis picture. I also had pictures of The Everly Brothers and Ricky Nelson, all very handsome young men but Elvis was something else.

Davis Cassidy. David Essex and Jan-Michael Vincent!

NotTooOld Fri 19-Feb-21 22:27:18

Grandma11 - you cold turn that story into a book. Ever thought of writing for Mills and Boon. smile

I wasn't allowed posters but if I had been I would have had David Essex and Terence Stamp (and Black Beauty!)

Rainwashed Fri 19-Feb-21 22:23:24

David Cassidy and Johnnie Walker.
Not exactly posters they were pictures from Jackie comic.
David Cassidy, I soon went off. Johnnie Walker still like listening to him now!

Lyndylou Fri 19-Feb-21 22:17:06

Billy J. Kramer and Bill Ivy (125cc motorcycle world champion) I always had to be different!!

Sara1954 Fri 19-Feb-21 22:08:05

Keith Richards? Really?
I always found him creepy.

sodapop Fri 19-Feb-21 22:05:11

You are right annodomini no posters on the wall at that time. I was more of a bookworm then. My parents were older and didn't allow such frivolities.

Kate1949 Fri 19-Feb-21 22:04:15

Oh yes mrswoo Keith was gorgeous. I never liked The Stones much but went to see them live a couple of times just to see Keith.

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 19-Feb-21 22:02:06

I wasn’t allowed posters so I had a scrap book, picture of Clint Eastwood (Rowdy Yates, Rawhide) Marty Wilde, The Mindbenders.

Galaxy Fri 19-Feb-21 22:00:38

I had completely forgotten athena. I wonder when they disappeared.

mrswoo Fri 19-Feb-21 21:57:24

Keith Richards - to see him now you would never know that once upon a time - a very long time ago - I thought he was the most beautiful man I had ever seen!

Grandmabatty Fri 19-Feb-21 21:55:47

Marc Bolan, David Cassidy, Bryan Ferry, Donnie Osmond, David Bowie. I loved glam rock in mid 70s

Sara1954 Fri 19-Feb-21 21:49:17

Mine were all torn out of Jackie

Ellianne Fri 19-Feb-21 21:47:07

Does anyone remember the Athena poster shops? You could get all manner of posters there, even ones of famous artworks.

Kate1949 Fri 19-Feb-21 21:46:47

Beatles for me. On my wall and in several scrapbooks.

Sara1954 Fri 19-Feb-21 21:45:32

Lots of Beatles, featuring Paul. The kinks, and my big love of that era Cat Stevens.

MissAdventure Fri 19-Feb-21 21:29:08

Casdon Virginia Plain was the first single I ever bought, and i still love it. smile

annodomini Fri 19-Feb-21 21:28:34

Mid 1950s. I didn't have posters, and I don't think many of us did at that time, just before Elvis hit the scene. I was a voracious reader, devoured Agatha Christie and feasted on Jane Austen.

gt66 Fri 19-Feb-21 21:25:52

Another Marc Bolan fan here!
