Those were the days my friend ...

I wouldn’t have done drink driving when I was younger either, I’ve seen the tragic results of of it too many times.

I miss happy times with my extended family ?

Oh yes. Getting dressed up for parties. Maxi dresses, mini skirts, cheese cloth shirts, white knee length boots. Looking fabulous. Getting chatted up.
Drinking too much (no drink driving here). Great days.
Now it's be careful of your cholesterol, blood pressure, weight, liver etc.

I'm sure there were drink-driving laws then - my old 1920s monopoly set had 'Drunk in charge - fine £20' on one of the Chance cards.

Such a funny thread I honestly did not drink when I was young. My first husband drove me to it but I have never had a drink and driven a car. My favourite times were New Year parties at my mum's. We walked a mile away through the woods. Our son was the DJ we had a laugh with my family but my dad was missing. He would have been over the moon seeing us altogether.

Ha ha! I feel disinclined to make my early parties public!
But yes... Lots of fun

The white boots - Kinky boots ? then wedges & the block shoes -great thumping bits of wood with a cream stripe - my Dad wouldn't let me keep them in the house in case they had woodworm - they had to stay in the utility room?.
The local youth club & under 16 disco on a Friday night dancing in a line to Mo-town (?) & Northern soul ?

Oh yes the parties, the music and dancing the night away. Those were the days when I had the strength and energy to do it. No I never drank then either but am partial to a glass or two of wine now. Well you have to have something to enjoy in later life don't you. Cheers

Parties with lots of families were fun but I miss most the spontaneity. Being able to run up that hill and dance for hours or stay up all night chatting. Too old now.

Late 60’s and we were into Dylan and Flower Power. I’ve got Scott McKenzie’s San Francisco as my song, as I go through the final curtains!

A group of us used to hang around Durham Market Place on a Saturday afternoon - getting strange looks - but we were always polite and law abiding. We’d end up in the Mugwump coffee shop later - tame, by modern standards.
Lost touch with them since, but I know a couple died by suicide and my special friend lost his battle with cancer in his 40’s.

My current friends are very surprised when I’ve said what we got up to!

Goodness, really thought my life was fun and exciting but didn't get up to any of the high jinx related here. Guess I was a square by comparison.

Oh yes, the parties and concerts at uni and the long walks in crowds back to our digs or halls of residence. I think I’d find meeting one of those crowds quite scary now, but we were only laughing chatting and singing.
Never had to worry about drink driving as we didn’t have a car.
