Megan and Harry again!

Can someone please enlighten me in letting me know what was wrong in Harry and meghan saying "service is universal"? Surely it is. We also like to help each other and provide a service to each other when we can, that's what I'd like to believe anyway. Isn't this what they meant? There's seems to be a lot of H & M bashing again over this, however, it's all gone quiet over Prince Andrew's alleged sexual relationship with an underage girl. Am I missing something?

Oops sorry NellG...it was a joke. I do find your posts interesting sad

It wasn't you, I think the posts crossed, so apologies. Just a bit weary of being 'told off' by people.

Imagine if I pitched up in the Argy, hoisted my bosom up a la Les Dawson and announced that everyone should shut up now because I don't find it funny. Pretty sure I'd be told where to go, and rightly so. But I wouldn't dream of it. We're all different, I just wish some would appreciate that and leave it alone if it bothers them. Or report it if they think it crosses a line.

If I want to make 500 posts about waffles I am pefectly at liberty to do so and you are all perfectly at liberty to completely ignore them.

If it's "done" for you, you're not obliged to post.

Happyme Fri 26-Feb-21 22:58:04

yep lemsip there has been enough waffling ?

lemsip Fri 26-Feb-21 22:49:57

watch the clip Of Harry on the bus with james corden where when asked Harry clearly states that 'meg said a waffle maker' when asked what to get archie.

that's the waffle maker issue done now I would think.

But Merlotgran was he under two?

I know kids can be quirky, my daughter asked for flat pack furniture for Christmas one year so that she could put it together, but she was ten. She's an engineer now. Who knows, perhaps Archie will master waffle making and become a breakfast chef.

I just can't not find it funny.

I've just had notification from the Palace, apparently taking the mick out of royal gifts is an act of treason, which is still punishable under the death penalty. So, that's it, curtains for me - I shall request freshly made waffles as a final meal...

merlotgran Fri 26-Feb-21 22:40:39

Children can ask for some odd things. I remember when DGS4 asked for a flat cap like Fred Dibnah's for his 5th birthday.

I kid ye not!

Anniebach Fri 26-Feb-21 22:38:15

Wonder how many waffle makers Father Christmas delivered

lemsip Fri 26-Feb-21 22:35:57

Harry said that his grandmother asked what archie would like for christmas and 'meg said a waffle maker'....so that is why archie got a waffle maker for christmas

Anniebach Fri 26-Feb-21 22:12:42

Lucca I have no wish to feed your need

Lucca Fri 26-Feb-21 22:00:15

Anniebach

No Lucca no need , you do enough for two

Obviously I meant criticising megHan and harry, as you know.

NellG Fri 26-Feb-21 21:23:29

Gannygangan It's not a problem that needs solving, it's just funny.

NellG Fri 26-Feb-21 21:22:08

Anniebach Pretty much every American I know has a waffle iron - it's a bit like most of us have a potato masher.

I just found it funny as a gift for a child - a bit like "my grandmother is the Queen of England and all she got me for Christmas is this lousy waffle iron!" ?

Gannygangan Fri 26-Feb-21 21:21:42

I always used to find it difficult to get the grandson's presents. I'd always ask. Their Mum used to not have that many ideas either

I can't think that Archie needs much in his life .... maybe a waffle maker is the one thing they don't have and Archie likes waffles

Problem solved.

Anniebach Fri 26-Feb-21 21:15:54

I just can’t understand why they asked for a waffle iron, not having a go at them, I really find it so odd, would say the same of anyone. A waffle iron !

Perhaps they are not sold in America ?

NellG Fri 26-Feb-21 21:05:45

Or could it be... heaven forfend...that some posters have found something else to have a go at the people on this thread about? No, of course not, there are no double standards on Gransnet!

Just off to flick through the Argos catalogue - the baby's after a potato peeler for a christening present...

Calendargirl Fri 26-Feb-21 20:59:14

James Corden couldn’t get his head round the Queen ordering a waffle maker.

Don’t suppose she was quite as involved with the presents as that.

Anniebach Fri 26-Feb-21 20:54:26

NellG ?,

NellG Fri 26-Feb-21 20:52:34

Alegrias as they are not here, I'm not having a go 'at' them for anything, I just think it's funny. I have a sick sense of humour, what can I say? I have already admitted to being a vile human being - so shoot me.

NellG Fri 26-Feb-21 20:49:57

Anniebach ? I think I might treat my Granddaughters to an espresso machine each for Easter as such things are so de rigeur.

Alegrias1 Fri 26-Feb-21 20:47:54

Maybe the bairn likes waffles and his mum and dad thought it would be nice if they could make them for him. Maybe they had thought of buying a waffle iron with their many millions but great grandma Lizzie beat them to it. Does it really matter or have you just found something else to have a go at them for?

Anniebach Fri 26-Feb-21 20:43:11

What do you want for Christmas Archie ?

A waffle iron please

NellG Fri 26-Feb-21 20:37:24

In a moment of cynical, horrible, vile value judgment I am just wondering how many people, if asked what their toddler would like for Christmas, would say "a waffle iron" ? They should walk across a sea of lego like the rest of us did or have to pick the play doh out of the rugs!

Yes, I know I'm a terrible human who should stop persecuting them and I ought to go and throw myself into the nearest gutter wearing sack cloth and ashes in penance.

But... a waffle iron???

Anniebach Fri 26-Feb-21 20:22:05
