Megan and Harry again!

Can someone please enlighten me in letting me know what was wrong in Harry and meghan saying "service is universal"? Surely it is. We also like to help each other and provide a service to each other when we can, that's what I'd like to believe anyway. Isn't this what they meant? There's seems to be a lot of H & M bashing again over this, however, it's all gone quiet over Prince Andrew's alleged sexual relationship with an underage girl. Am I missing something?

I’ve just watched the James Corden clip and during the assault course section was struck by how naturally Harry was empathetic, helpful and encouraging.
He has a lovely sense of humour and I’m back to liking him again after being a bit fed up with, what I perceived as, the publicity seeking.
I think I’ll reserve judgement of Meghan now until I’ve seen the Oprah interview.

Is that because this is where Harry was most comfortable? The camaraderie of his army mates was very dear to him and I can imagine he enjoyed being part of the team. If he is not cut out for royal life, that's absolutely fine. But I just can't understand why we've had over 12 months constantly banging on about how toxic and soul destroying it was. Harry needs to evolve and find a new life to show us. The clock is ticking.

Good point trisher but whatever they did they’d be wrong on here

There is a world of difference between being pilloried in the gutter press and giving interviews with trusted individuals. The fact that people don't recognise that says much about society in the UK and why we have the disgusting rags we have masquerading as newspapers.

tickingbird this is a discussion site. I put things up on here that I think add to the discussion. You might not like them, but heigh ho, I can live with that. I didn't "tell" you to do anything, but I can say what I think we should do. Are we only allowed to say things that accord with your world view?

Like telling someone we don't know that they need to find some dignity and self respect for instance, as Rosalyn69 just did?

I also saw part of the interview on a bus and I cringed. That’s not royalty or Hollywood royalty. It’s just tacky. He needs to find some dignity and self respect.

I agree Nell if media attention is affecting his mental health then the pair of them should be keeping away from it rather than encouraging it.

It just smacks of 'you can report what we're doing and saying, but only if it's positive' so in that regard I think they do want to manage their image Bridgeit.

tickingbird Fri 26-Feb-21 14:08:38

If we are offended by what we see as cashing in on their history, well we just need to get over ourselves. I expect the Queen is managing to live with it

Alegrias it’s not for you to instruct others to get over themselves. If others feel H& M have been disrespectful to the Queen (as I do) then they’re quite entitled to say so. As for leaving these shores I think they have every right to do so but get on with it, accept the loss of certain ranks and titles and don’t moan about it and put out deliberately worded statements that seem to be rebuking the Queen. I do wonder what lies ahead for Harry and I hope he hasn’t burned his bridges.

Ellianne Fri 26-Feb-21 14:08:26

I've just watched the Corden chat on the bus. Surely the longer Harry keeps blaming the press for everything, the more they are going to be on to him. Or is that Meghan wants?

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 26-Feb-21 14:06:55

I also think that when they had their child the secrecy didn’t do them any favours and the Press stirred up the ‘rage of the British people’ when no baby photos were forthcoming, no one knew when or where she had had the baby, lists of Godparents were and still are a secret and when we did see the child it was on an overseas trip.
They really didn’t help themselves, but I wasn’t outraged and I’m sure most of us didn’t really care one way or the other. The Press had a field day though.

MissAdventure Fri 26-Feb-21 13:59:13

maddyone I just read it here, said by someone else.
I never ever read anything about the royals if I can help it. smile

Ellianne Fri 26-Feb-21 13:59:13

William, Catherine, and baby George did a three and a half week tour of Australia and New Zealand when George was eight months old!
I remember that. The lovely photos of baby George at Sydney zoo looking at the kangaroos and bilbies.

Bridgeit

Let’s not forget that there are many of us who can become a ‘Mrs Bouquet ‘ on occasions.
I hope some of you can remember that programme. If not I am definitely getting old.

I do, but I'm not entirely clear who you are comparing to Mrs Bucket?

NellG Fri 26-Feb-21 13:46:53

^......it was when Harry was sent off on royal duties when M was expecting Archie.......^

My husband went to work during all three of my pregnancies, doesn’t everyone’s?

Might that have been because in comparison when Kate is pregnant she has the debilitating morning sickness? I think the RF are 'normal' couples and families in many ways, so I'm guessing in a similar situation your husband may have stayed home and helped. (pending an equivalent level of privilege of course)

maddyone Fri 26-Feb-21 13:41:56

An African tour...

maddyone Fri 26-Feb-21 13:41:04

That was to Miss Adventure.

maddyone Fri 26-Feb-21 13:40:40

And do you know that as a fact, or have you just read it in the press?

maddyone Fri 26-Feb-21 13:39:53

When they did ......an African with said baby (Kate never did any for a year.......

William, Catherine, and baby George did a three and a half week tour of Australia and New Zealand when George was eight months old!

I respect other people’s opinions, but let’s not use lies to make a point. It’s not helpful.

MissAdventure Fri 26-Feb-21 13:36:29

Prince William didn't, so I've just read.

I don’t think they want to ‘manage ‘ their image , they just want to live in accordance with themselves , as we all do.

NellG Fri 26-Feb-21 11:33:25

They have shifted their allegiance to the US, fair enough, I don't see that we can beef about them emigrating. But I do think they are being naive if they think the US press and media is any kinder that that in the UK. If they think they can 'manage' their image any better there than they could here then they are either stupid or arrogant. The minute the US public tires of them they will just be thrown to a much bigger pack of wolves.

Which is why the mental health angle and protecting the family doesn't add up - if Harry believes being in the public eye is 'better' over there then he has fallen deep into the proverbial crock of shit. Which begs the question of who was holding it out to him?

Galaxy Fri 26-Feb-21 11:29:12

But that work would be like a horror show for many, I know it would be for me. Why do we want people to be in a role they dont want to be in. I agree Miss Adventure its seen as a rejection of Britain.

Alegrias1 Fri 26-Feb-21 11:28:36

Framilode

If they want to make money, and they do, they have to keep a high public profile. It all seems so second rate to me when you compare it to the work they could have been doing here.

Framilode, that's just snobbery, sorry.

Nothing second rate about Invictus.
