Megan and Harry again!

Can someone please enlighten me in letting me know what was wrong in Harry and meghan saying "service is universal"? Surely it is. We also like to help each other and provide a service to each other when we can, that's what I'd like to believe anyway. Isn't this what they meant? There's seems to be a lot of H & M bashing again over this, however, it's all gone quiet over Prince Andrew's alleged sexual relationship with an underage girl. Am I missing something?

Bridgeit Sun 28-Feb-21 15:00:44

I Did ask you list Charities you support !
I asked what would you be prepared to do ( if anything)

Smileless2012 Sun 28-Feb-21 14:59:13

Well if you're not prepared to substantiate your claim of the entrenched hatred that's been expressed on this thread, it would have been better if you'd not claimed you've witnessed it Alegrias.

Enjoy yourbrew.

Bridgeit Sun 28-Feb-21 14:56:25

I asked what would you be prepared to do to help others etc?

I should have asked , do you or would you help others, & does that make you less or more likely to agree or disagree with aspects of others who do / or don’t

NellG Sun 28-Feb-21 14:52:56

Bridgeit

Why do I not have the right to ask it,? you have the right to -no reply -

OK, I'm not sure you have the right - because I believe that to ask someone to list their charitable activities is rude and intrusive. It's none of your business in fact. But I didn't want to be that blunt about it because we are contributing to a message board and I try and respect everyone's posts even when I disagree with the content. I wanted to reply, so I did. I could have ignored you, true. But as it's a discussion and all...

Alegrias1 Sun 28-Feb-21 14:49:38

Smileless2012

To your first point - you are really trying to convince us that some posters are just commenting about their behaviour? Names have been used against them that are nothing to do with their behaviour. OK.....dancing on the head of a pin there. You can ask me elaborate if you like, but I'm away for a cuppa so that won't happen.

Second point - because not caring about their antics and their royal status doesn't mean that I'm not intrigued by the reaction they bring out in others.

NellG Sun 28-Feb-21 14:48:11

Hatred and racism...hmmm.

People judging people judging people... tick.

Bridgeit Sun 28-Feb-21 14:47:24

Bridgeit Sun 28-Feb-21 14:45:51

No I’m not saying that, what I am saying is that ,they (H&M )just like the rest of us ... are a sum of all their parts...
True there are some folks who are so vile, damaged evil etc that they have to be locked up for life..... but continuous criticism of those who actually want to do good , but at the same time have less likeable attributes is just a little bit one sided & blinkered. But that Is just my opinion.

NellG Sun 28-Feb-21 14:44:14

I'm not sure you have the right to ask that Bridgeit, what other people do to support charities etc is their business. A large majority prefer to do such things with quiet discretion I suspect. I know I do. I give to give, not to gain.

Smileless2012 Sun 28-Feb-21 14:41:44

Exactly, "we're all entitled to like or dislike anyone we choose" so why accuse those who are voicing their dislike of the way
H & M behave, which is not the same as disliking them as people, of expressing their "entrenched ......... hatred" Alegrias?

TBH I find it rather odd that someone who "purposefully left the country on holiday on the weekend they got married because (they) couldn't bear to watch the coverage on TV or see it in the papers" is contributing to a thread about them.

You have no idea how many of regularly make donations to charities or give up our time on a voluntary basis to help those less fortunate, because those of who do don't constantly broadcast the fact Bridgeit.

Rosie51 Sun 28-Feb-21 14:39:35

Smileless a case of my enemy's enemy is my friend I think. When you hold such deep seated hatred of the RF, Meg and H are perfect weapons in your armoury. I wonder how ardent their supporters were before the criticism of their behaviour started.

trisher Sun 28-Feb-21 14:35:17

Smileless2012

Your obvious disdain for the RF does your support for H & M a great disservice trisher as it raises the question do you support H & M because you believe in what they say and do, or are they a convenient stick to beat the RF with?

The overall content of your posts suggests the latter.

Well partly because they have had the nerve to leave an institution which does all the things I've posted. And because I abhor racism and sexism in all forms, regard the British media as completely biased, and a bunch of right wing shit stirrers, and really can't understand the mind set that says "I don't like what I consider a publicity seeking couple, so I will read and watch every single thing I can relating to them, then complain that I have to do it."
Apart from that I'm in lockdown and it's Sunday what else is there to do?

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 28-Feb-21 14:32:50

bridgeit are you saying that before we can comment on H and M we should write a list of Charities that we support and where we Volunteer, so that we are ‘eligible’ to have an opinion?

Bridgeit Sun 28-Feb-21 14:20:26

The whole World is an unfair, corrupt, cruel place with mind boggling inequalities, which includes the folks that are still starving , the homeless , the poor, the repressed etc, so those of us on here, sitting in our little domains etc are actually no different than those you choose to criticise. ie we are far better off than so many, so what would any of you willingly do to alter or help redress these inequalities?

Alegrias1 Sun 28-Feb-21 14:15:15

Here I am, probably making a stick for my own back, but oh well. Fortune favours the brave.

I'm not a "M&H Supporter", in fact I purposefully left the country on holiday on the weekend they got married because I couldn't bear to watch the coverage on TV or see it in the papers. I'm not an "RF supporter" either. Some members of the family seem like good people, others don't. I'm not a monarchist.

I've been commenting on this thread because there are people who are so entrenched in their hatred for a young couple and their family that they have made this the longest thread on GN for some time. We're all entitled to like or dislike whoever we so choose, but to keep re-running the same grievances over and over again is just bizarre. I think we know now who doesn't like M&H, and why.

Anyway, nice entertaining thread. LauraNorder, I think you win Post of the Week grin

Grany Sun 28-Feb-21 14:13:12

Thank you trisher I will be careful what I say Good and Bad Royals, understood. grin

Anniebach Sun 28-Feb-21 14:07:45

I think the latter Smileless

Smileless2012 Sun 28-Feb-21 14:04:33

trisher Sun 28-Feb-21 13:57:30

Grany you've ventured into criticising the GOOD Royals, this is completely unaceptable on GN. You need to recognise that only the BAD Royals are up for any bad mouthing. You can say anything you like about them, condemn their actions, question their motives, abuse them personally on any grounds, even if they are racist or sexist. GOOD Royals however, are beyond reproach, and can continue to leech off the public, support horrific regimes, protect dodgy family members and generally behave as badly as they wish. This provides a great and carefully nurtured service for an outdated institution which enables it to survive. Please think carefully before you post in future grin wink

Anniebach Sun 28-Feb-21 13:55:09

LauraNorder love it , thank you ?

Smileless2012 Sun 28-Feb-21 13:53:30

That's what's so sad and so distasteful IMO, that they are his family and H is still it appears, prepared to fan the fire of their criticism when it comes to his and M's decision to leave.

He must know that their victim rhetoric isn't just pointing an accusing finger at the media, but is also being pointed by some at his family; his father, brother and GP's.

As for referring to the waffle iron the Queen bought for Archie, I agree Annie it was to remind us that he is the Queen's GS as if any of us could forget and for me, not mentioning what M's M bought Archie supports this view.

He could have said 'my GM bought' or perhaps he was concerned that some may forget that his GM is Queen and in so doing, his own connection to the RF.

I've posted that too Peasblossom. There's the Oprah interview to come and the birth of their second and last child I believe, as they are restricting themselves to just 2 to help protect the planet after which, unless it's constantly dragging up old news, there wont be a lot of new to report. Apart from any charitable work of course.

Yes, I've been misrepresented Bridgeit as I'm sure many of us have and when I have been, I've distanced myself from those who have done so, as well as accepting them distancing themselves from me, as I understood my life would be far better without them.

Grany Sun 28-Feb-21 13:51:12

NellG

Grany that must be because right or wrong, not many are interested, plus, having looked at some of the sources you post I'd say a lot of the information on this is of dubious origin. What most people are doing here is chewing the fat and gossiping to pass the time. The issues you are concerned about are geopolitical, sociopolitical and human rights issues. A different ballgame. I'm not telling you where or what to post but suspect you wont get much traction here tbh.

Yes I guess that right it's gossip to pass the time that's right. But just thought I'd pop it in to mix it up a bit. Perhaps people think the RF are goody goody haha

It's is true that RF mix with these Middle eastern tyrants (photos abound) without much thought about their human rights abuses.

I think Meghan and Harry were right to walk away from the RF and choose to live their own life.

Carry on I do follow this thread as interested I do like them.

NellG Sun 28-Feb-21 13:47:53

LauraNorder ?

Mollygo Sun 28-Feb-21 13:47:16

LauraNorder ????
As long as you are not trying to divert the topic to whether or not the Queen swears!?

LauraNorder Sun 28-Feb-21 13:45:08

I have a little vision of the Queen closing her laptop after the pre Christmas call, rolling her eyes and saying to Prince Phillip “A waffle iron ffs”.
