Megan and Harry again!

Can someone please enlighten me in letting me know what was wrong in Harry and meghan saying "service is universal"? Surely it is. We also like to help each other and provide a service to each other when we can, that's what I'd like to believe anyway. Isn't this what they meant? There's seems to be a lot of H & M bashing again over this, however, it's all gone quiet over Prince Andrew's alleged sexual relationship with an underage girl. Am I missing something?

Speaking as a paragon of posting virtue MissAdventure, would you care to give any further guidance on the level of etiquette you feel is required here? You know, accepted 'depth markers', a list of do's and don'ts, acceptable pomposity levels - that kind of thing?

Would be really useful to everyone I'm sure.

MissAdventure Wed 24-Feb-21 21:18:12

I agree.
It would be a shame to sink to those depths, or even anywhere close.
Particularly when speaking of someone who has absolutely no bearing or personal affect on anyone here or their family.

And wishing boris dead?

It wasn't difficult to find the the threads, posts/some threads deleted but the flavour was there, and of course people do like to quote things out of context. Looks like it got close though, which means the bar was already too low to go under I think.

Dear oh dear ‘ totally unfair of them to even exist’

That has to be a new low

It was hyperbole. Not a statement of belief - but an exaggeration of some of the arguments for dramatic effect. The whole post makes that clear. So is it a "new low" or a lack of comprehension skills?

MissAdventure Wed 24-Feb-21 20:55:51

tickingbird is so right about the Patel and Abbott threads

On the political threads. When BJ was in intensive care there were some extremely nasty posts.

None of them wished him dead. Many may have commented that he had possibly been careless etc but not one wished him dead it was only Boris supporting grans who claimed people were wishing him dead. Sorry but I remember it clearly.

MissAdventure Wed 24-Feb-21 19:09:46

I don't think going down to the level of the lowest possible denominator is justified.

tickingbird Wed 24-Feb-21 19:05:37

Definitely at least one wishing him dead. I can even remember who posted it. It was probably deleted. Also referring to him as a pig, and from those that try to take the moral high ground on other threads. Priti Patel took quite a bashing too but when Dianne Abbott was in the line of fire, the cries of racism lit up the forum. I commented at the time that it’s strange how referring to PP as Ugly Patel was fine but having a joke regarding DA’s maths ability was somehow racist. It’s double standards.

LauraNorder Wed 24-Feb-21 19:03:07

I’m sure The SNP’s greatest fan will be along soon to confirm that she made that statement about Boris Johnson.

MissAdventure Wed 24-Feb-21 18:08:43

None wishing him dead though, I'm sure.
(Though obviously I stand to be corrected)

But how is she destroying the family and what it stands for. I have no understanding how they are doing that.

Lucca Wed 24-Feb-21 17:35:29

trisher So it’s ok to post wishing death on someone and being extremely nasty as long as YOU don’t like them?

Where ?

tickingbird Wed 24-Feb-21 17:34:24

* Sorry tickingbird it's all fired me up a bit, I hope it's clear I am agreeing with you.*

Yes Nell I know smile

Trying to think which would have more relevance for my life HM speech to the Commonwealth or H&M on Oprah. Actually they're about even- no relevance whatsoever! It's a competition between an anachronism and a couple of nonentities. I really couldn't care less.

Pantglas2 Wed 24-Feb-21 17:29:58

“I don't know about you but I'd say yes, they do, but not at the cost of destroying everything their family stands for in the process, whilst knowing the family can't say a word about it.”

I’d agree with that but think we have to recognise that Meghan doesn’t do family, does she? Given that, we probably can’t expect her to respect Harry’s.

Anniebach Wed 24-Feb-21 17:29:52

There is a photograph doing the rounds, I don’t know how to
copy it.

Megan in a man’s suit and Harry in a black tight dress, high heels and carrying flowers .

Apart from the fact she’s the Queen, she is also very elderly and her even more elderly husband is ill in hospital. In any family, this lack of respect and consideration for a grandmother at, what must be a worrying time, is pretty shabby.

But who are two old people to stand in the way? They've had their lives - totally unfair of them to even exist, let alone have the temerity to prevent M from "thriving".

Don't young people have the right to be happy and free?

I don't know about you but I'd say yes, they do, but not at the cost of destroying everything their family stands for in the process, whilst knowing the family can't say a word about it.

I actually call that gross cruelty.

Maybe Galaxy, my life neither. What I mean is that the Queen's address is an altruistic act of service ..... Meghan and Harry's interview is self serving..........which sort of brings us back to the start of the discussion.
