Hello Everyone smile
Just to liven things up a bit.
What are your thoughts on them?
Do you have a significant gap in yours or are you the same age?
(My husband and I have quite a big difference in age.)
Anyway - thoughts?
Thank you!

Dh is exactly I month and I day older than me. Married 46 years. Very happy together now. When we were younger we used to bicker a lot. I used to think that friends with a bigger age gap didn't bicker as much as us. These days the tiny age gap seems to work for us. Retired within a few years of each other and both like the same levels of activity on holidays ext.

My late husband was 16 years older than me. Age was never an issue.

I seem to like the 10 year gap. My first husband was 10 years older
and my second is 10 years younger!

My first husband was 5 years older, divorced after 10 ,second husband was 15 years older and sadly died at 52 ,two weeks before 1st anniversary. My last husband was three years older and we were happily married for 37 years before he died sixteen months ago. There won't be a number 4.

Love that!

Less than a year between us.
My previous relationship was ten years, I was sixteen when we got together, and we were into different music, different clothes, didn’t get on with each other’s friends, it was only ten years, but it seemed like a massive difference in almost everything.
With my husband, we share memories of all sorts of things, we slotted into each other’s social circles, and as we’ve gotten older, we’re going at the same pace.

I still laugh about Joan Collins’ comment when asked about whether the age difference between her and her latest husband Percy (I think he was about 15 years younger than her) concerned her and she said ‘ Well, if he dies, he dies’.

Oops pressed too soon, he says I’m his sexy chick, I would differ in my opinion, instead I just try and look self effacing...??

My friend was 45 when she met her new partner aged 60, and everything was great for many years until he retired. She said he just seemed to age overnight unfortunately, and she has continued to work rather than be at home with him all day, which is sad.

My OH is 5 yrs older than me. It’s no issue except our reference points from our past are often very different. He was the age of grammar schools and technical colleges. I was the first year they did away with that. Also our music tastes are quite different. I feel more ‘modern’ somehow??? It seems as though the world changed quite fast in the 60’s??

My husband will be 8 years younger than me next week, he’s about an inch shorter, third marriage for me, first for him, he has no children, I have two, we’ve been together 22 years

My husband is three weeks younger than me, but boy does he milk it while I'm a "year older" ?

Pantglas2 Sat 27-Feb-21 21:18:28

LauraNorder

I’m 5 months older than Orlin. He’s taller than me. I’m brainier than him. He’s kinder than me, I’ve got smaller feet. He’s the sexiest.

Apart from the second and last.....we’re a match!

I actually don’t think age gaps matter in the long run as long as you’re happy ?

bikergran Sat 27-Feb-21 21:13:37

Meant to say we had been married almost 38 yrs but knew each other few yrs before.

bikergran Sat 27-Feb-21 21:11:03

20 yr age gap for me.

Had a great marriage yes ups n downs like normal.

Dh passed away almost 7 yrs ago aged 79 (I was 59)

Would do it all again, we were happy. I miss him very much.

17 years, Great chemistry for the first 10 years. Has waned now though. I feel old, so he seems ancient now!

6 months only

vampirequeen Sat 27-Feb-21 20:25:01

My DH also declares himself to be my toyboy even though there are only 9 months between us.

I don't have any problem with age differences as long as both are over 18. My dad was 10 years older than my mam and they had a long happy marriage until he sadly passed away. A work colleague was 12 years older than his wife whilst another was 20 years younger than her husband. We also know a couple who have a 35 year age difference.

I don't think age is an issue. Yes they may end up as a young widow or widower but should they give up any years of happiness over something that may or may not happen.
