Lighten up, everything censored in case it causes offence. I look a bit of a bed head after cutting it myself?

I don’t like hair that doesn’t move. It should.

I think it is ageing to have overdone hair, especially when just visiting a supermarket or similar.

I do not like the overgroomed look of full makeup and done hair.

Oh, I so agree!

My supermarket look is probably more bag lady.

Redhead56 when I go on my walk tomorrow I will be checking the hairdos of dogs and owners grin

I don’t think saying helmet head to male or female is sexist When I watch Crufts I often say to my DH “that persons hair looks like their dogs”. Sometimes their hair does! its not being offensive it’s observation. There is too much PC someone will take offence to anything.

Maybe it's a confidence thing. Nicola always sounds certain - as did Maggie.

Boris maybe not so much. grin

Baggs Wed 03-Mar-21 15:34:51

Yes, FC. Merkel is another who always looks the same and has been much praised for it. Something to be said for not making a big show.

Baggs Wed 03-Mar-21 15:32:56

Men not judged on their appearance? Ha!

Jacob Rees-Mogg, Michael Foot immediately spring to mind.

Also what about all those perfect-looking men that some women go whoar about?

Off your high horses, ladies! ?

I think that NS may consciously being guided by MrsT's or even HMQ's style.
They all wear a highly distinctive uniform. NS wears the female equivalent of a man's suit almost as armour. She always looks the same but is immediately recognisable.
Her make up (vivid eyeshadow and false eyelashes) is similar to stage make up.
I bet that privately she dresses very differently.
If you compare her to Mrs May you can

Parsley3

The Queen’s hairdo was immaculate in her Zoom videos so we can also add her to the list of helmet heads.

Yep.

It’s not something I could ever be accused of having ?

Baggs I'm so surprised that you started such a thread!

Alex Salmond's hairdo is a bit of helmet, is it not?

Nah. He’s too bald. His hair, even converted to metal, wouldn’t offer much protection.

Neither would mine, in case you think that’s sexist too ?

Thinking on helmet hairstyles, it also occurs to me just now that during lockdown one of my nephews and one of my grandsons have been helmet heads too.

Take your sexism assumption somewhere else, please.

Baggs Wed 03-Mar-21 14:50:47

My comment is about the shape and perfection (not a hair out of place) of two hairstyles.

Baggs Wed 03-Mar-21 14:49:42

Esspee

Baggs Wed 03-Mar-21 14:49:27

What judgment have I made, espee?

Esspee Wed 03-Mar-21 14:48:33

Why do women get judged for their appearance but men rarely do unless they are Boris? Rather sexist in my opinion.

Baggs Wed 03-Mar-21 14:39:08

Happening upon a picture of Nicola Sturgeon just now while strolling through the twittersphere, it occurred to me that, like Margaret Thatcher, she is a 'helmet head', so to speak, with reference to their immaculate hairdos.
