Good Morning Everyone,
Its twilight this morning in Brackley , a little bit of brightness in the sky , but dry and cold outside .
Today, my usual shop , then do my own Fish & Chips , plus await a call from provider as to fixing email .
This weekend sees the start of more cycling on TV , of which I am looking forward to watch .
As it breaks watching continuous repeats on TV.
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning from an overcast & chilly Cambs.,

Hopefully our plumber is coming to repair our heating boiler.
We have a leak.! The boiler is in the airing cupboard, didn't notice it dripping until we noticed a damp smell.! Why did I store so much "stuff" in that cupboard.?

I made the SOAP recipe for dinner last night, it was lovely, (thank you Urmstongran. )

Warm wishes to all, especially those with extra trials & worries.

Thinking of Merlotgran & Georgesgran, flowers

Good morning Mick, one and all from a cloudy northwest coast, but brightening up.
First of all, condolences to Merlot, such a hard time, endured by myself and many on here, who know the journey.
Windows opened and a nice breeze coming through the house.
Another shock, an M and S pinafore dress, not worn since last year and so useful over a polo neck sweater, too tight and now in my jumble bag. A symptom of a lethargic winter.
Off soon to post a book and old fashioned 4 page letter to my sister in law in her care home in the south of England. The smallish quiet supermarket has a post office inside and suits me as never busy. Today could prove me wrong...
Have a nice day, the sick and the well.

Nannagarra Fri 05-Mar-21 08:47:37

Re liver and bacon Urms: do you have a fail-safe recipe you’d like to share following on from the enormously popular SOAP?

Greyduster Fri 05-Mar-21 08:47:24

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a brightening South Yorkshire. It feels colder, though. Nothing planned for today. We may go our for a walk. Much of yesterday was taken up with phone calls with family and old friends. No-one calls you for ages and then they all want to talk to you at once!? A FaceTime with DS showed his hair getting longer and longer - he refuses to let DiL cut it. I’ve never seen him looking so scruffy! If it weren’t a two hour drive I would rush over there myself with a pair of scissors!
Kind thoughts to all who are struggling today?. Stay safe folks.

ginny Fri 05-Mar-21 08:46:21

Good Morning all. Another ‘ditto day weather wise and otherwise.
Hope to be able to have a coffee and chat with friends and family next week. Maybe one each day, I won’t have spokenso much for months!
Gagagran hope DHs op goes well.
Thinking of all who are troubled but hope you can find a ?somewhere today.

Alygran Fri 05-Mar-21 08:36:10

Good morning from North Yorkshire where it is much brighter today.
Another shopper here. I’ve shopped pretty much every Friday in lockdown.
Charity admin and funding bid ‘stuff’ this afternoon.
My thoughts are with Merlot and Georgesgran?.
Hope all goes well with the op gaga and you don’t have too long to wait for the phone call.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.

Nannytopsy Fri 05-Mar-21 08:35:59

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Don’t you just love it when cats do that BlueSapphire?! we have a long haired ginger who is a master at fur balls.
A quick outing to the fish van is my plan for today. Much love to Merlot and Georgesgran.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

grannysyb Fri 05-Mar-21 08:33:42

Good morning, bright blue sky here, but it looks chilly. Need to walk to the butcher this morning, and take some library books back. Thinking of Georgesgran and Merlot, and hope all goes well for Mrgaga.

Urmstongran Fri 05-Mar-21 08:32:52

We had liver & bacon casserole last night Nannagarra! Not made it for years. I couldn’t get over the fact that British lamb’s liver, enough for two of us, was only 98p from Sainsbury’s!
?
Sorry everyone I’m monopolising the thread. I’ll shut up now.

Nannagarra Fri 05-Mar-21 08:26:55

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is cool and overcast.
Today I’ll attempt to reproduce MiL’s liver and bacon. She was also the queen of roast pork and of cheese pie.
I hope all goes well for Mrgagagran today and that Oop’s DD is on the road to a speedy recovery. It would be so good to hear from Travels.
Georgesgran and Merlotgran are uppermost in my mind.
Have the best day you can everyone. ?

Susan56 Fri 05-Mar-21 08:24:03

Gagagran, will be thinking of you and your DH today?

Grammaretto Fri 05-Mar-21 08:21:25

Good morning from the Scottish Borders. It seems warmer than yesterday though still barely above freezing. We had sleet and snow briefly yesterday.
I dreamed of holidays but when I went on my favourite site, cottages in UK were booked up until the middle of next year.

Thinking of all of you recently bereaved and those poorly or anxious. There will be better times ahead.

Susan56 Fri 05-Mar-21 08:21:16

Good morning from Shropshire.

Thinking of Georgesgran and merlotgran and sending much love?

Another day of childcare today.DGD back in school so just H then school pick up later.DGD was so excited when I collected her from school yesterday. She is loving being back with her friends but says she misses us.Her favourite part of the day was her school dinner, a giant Yorkshire puddings with a roast dinner in it followed by Rice Krispie cake but made with cornflakes grandma?

We had a call from the company our aborted trip to Holland was booked with yesterday. We asked for a refund which after trying every way possible to persuade us to book another trip they agreed we were entitled to.We had paid for this holiday 18 months ago and no longer have the card we used. She insists that they will try and refund to the card and when it fails they will send us a cheque? We have another holiday booked with them but have only paid the deposit so will probably cancel as their customer service was terrible and who knows what will be happening later in the year.

Thinking of all our missing goodmorningers, dragonfly, Lins and so many others.Cherry, hope you are ok and had a restful night?

Have a good day all.Can hear the fifteen month old whirlwind approaching?

Gingster Fri 05-Mar-21 08:21:07

Good morning all from Essex and it’s looking brighter but chillier.

My eldest GD and I are going for a walk today, as I haven’t seen her for so long. She might go back to Uni at the weekend as she’s fed up of being in her bedroom at home. She needs to be with friends and experience some of student life, be it very limited at the moment.

Georgesgran And Merlotgran my heartfelt sympathies to you both. ??

Gagagran I’m sure all will be well with your DH. Try not to dwell and worry too much . Make a few phone calls to family/friends to take your mind of it for a while. ?

Quite a few of you seem to be going shopping today. I think we’re all fed up with deliveries and want to go for ourselves. My DS1 always shops for us but I long to have a wander and pick up things I never think of when making my list ?.

Bellasnanna I’m glad you got your two cappuccino s yesterday. I’m also surprised your infections have gone up. Hopefully places won’t be closed for too long.

Wishing you all a carefree day and keep warm and cosy. ??

NannyJan53 Fri 05-Mar-21 08:20:25

Good morning from a grey and cloudy Black Country.

I made a lovely Banana, Pecan nut and Maple Syrup Loaf yesterday. I cut into 1/3rds and freeze 2 portions.

No real plans (yet again) for today. May finish my book, then onto the next one. Probably a walk to the Park at some point.

I am sure all will go well today Gagagran and your DH will be on the phone before you know it.

Special thoughts of merlotgran and Georgesgran flowers

Marydoll Fri 05-Mar-21 08:17:03

Good morning all from a cool and cloudy Glasgow. I feel so sad for Merlot gran and Georgesgran, I cannot begin to imagine their pain.

Nothing exciting happening today, apart from a Tesco delivery. I seem to be spending such a lot more online, than I would spend if I physically went to the supermarket.
DD and SIL are have offered to clean all my windows, (they must have noticed how dirty they were, ?), it's just too strenuous for me these days and DH can't see that they need washed. The neighbours are gossiping about my lack of housekeeping skills!

SIL is also going to help DH move some heavy garden pots, another job I usually do. Its so frustrating being unable to do what I used to do in the garden. DH is a very reluctant apprentice, so I have to do things subtly and enlist DD and SIL's help! ?
All I have managed so far is sow my veggie seeds in the propagators. The least bit of effort triggers an angina attack, which is so demoralising.

Their plan is to have lunch in the garden, brrrrrr, DH has just been to collect baker's morning rolls, as requested by DD. I suspect, DD wants to play with the chiminea and fire pit! She loves to go wild camping. She certainly doesn't take after me ?

Gaga an anxious day for you, I hope all goes well. ?
GM, I was reading about that pension scandal, what a surprise windfall for you.
As a WASPI, I reckon that that I have lost out on about £40,000 in state pension benefits. I can't wait until May to get it.
Wishing you all a pleasant day and a gentle day for all my struggling friends.

BlueSapphire Fri 05-Mar-21 08:13:40

Good morning again from a grey and cloudy day in Northampton. More of the same is forecast.

And more of the same for me: reading, newspaper, crosswords and sudoku, my Agatha Christie, and knitting. I am near to finishing the main body of my cardigan, just the ribbing to do - it seems strange to be doing the ribbing last. And a load of washing to do as one of the cats deposited a hairball on a spare-room bed yesterday.

Thinking of Merlot and Georgesgran today and also trust that Gaga's DH's op goes well.

baubles Fri 05-Mar-21 08:13:37

Good morning Mick, morning all from a rather overcast South Lanarkshire.

It was just glorious to see my family in the east yesterday although I do feel guilty even although it was allowed. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me. Ashcome the almost four year old DD was wearing odd socks as she has done for over a year since the day she noticed her Daddy’s socks didn’t match. She immediately took off one of hers and ran to her room to fetch another and has refused to wear matching socks ever since.

Gagagran I’ll be thinking of you and your DH today, I hope his op goes well. I’m sure you’ll be on pins until it’s over.

So much sorrow on Gransnet just now, my thoughts are with Merlot and Georgesgran.

Sorry to hear about your fall corner, hope you feel better soon.

Enjoy your French breakfast Harrigran

Today’s outing will be to the post office, I’m sending some paperbacks to relatives in Ireland. In the olden days I would have combined that with a dog walk and tied her up outside but that doesn’t feel safe nowadays so she’ll have to stay at home.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Friday.

Jaxjacky Fri 05-Mar-21 08:13:20

Good morning all from a dry, chilly, sunny S Hants. Today’s highlight is a Tesco delivery after lunch, that’s about it. The flowers I got on Monday are all opening up and look so lovely, cards can come down later today. Gaga hoping the time doesn’t drag too much before your welcome news
Thinking of you ladies with such sorrow, merlotgran Georgesgran and Travelsofar ?
Also hoping sheep isn’t too exhausted.

Gelisajams Fri 05-Mar-21 07:51:38

Good morning from a cool, calm, grey Morecambe Bay.
Thinking especially this morning of Georgesgran and Merlotgran and also remembering Travelsafar?

Hoping all goes well for Mr Gagagran I understand and empathise with your anxiety Gagagran. I’m sure all will be well and you would reassure others, but it’s different when it it’s you and yours.

DH is watching the cricket, so that’s him out of action until late morning. I think I’ll use the time to wash our flags and drive. We have those awful pavers which collect weeds and moss in their joins. I’ve bought some ‘stuff’ which you spray on and apparently it works it’s magic! Here’s hoping ?

DS2 got his call for vaccination yesterday. He’s only 40 so not sure why he’s been called although he is very overweight, has asthma and is diagnosed autistic. It could be any of those things or perhaps a combination. He got the call from his GP. He works in a crowded warehouse and has to travel on public transport so I’m quite relieved as I’ve been concerned about him.
Have the best day you can everyone, and take care, stay safe ?

Urmstongran Fri 05-Mar-21 07:51:14

Lovely as always to hear from you amselerin! Keep posting dear lady. None of us are ‘doing much’ and it’s interesting to hear how life is in Germany. You definitely add to the variety on this thread. Even snippets of daily not much are interesting from abroad.

Good morning Mick and all from frosty Lueneburg. The Sun is shining brightly so it`s going to be a beautiful day.
I have been busy painting and doing nothing much. My granddaughter and her Mother came visiting on Tuesday. They stayed all day and it was uplifting. My granddaughter ,Emma, is 13 and lives in Hamburg. She can`t go to school, but she seems to cope very well. I had a phone call from the surgery yesterday morning asking me, if I would like to come for my yearly check up.This check up is only due in June, but I think, that lots of people put off going to see their doctor because they worry about Corona. I shall take the opportunity to take a walk around town. I am just waiting for my vaccination which is a long way off. It`s rather a shambles here.
I wish for every one with anxiety and worries that they feel better soon.
Wishing everyone a pleasant day. I don`t write very often as it would mostly be a repeat of what I wrote before. I am reading your posts every day. Otherwise something would be missing. Take care

Urmstongran Fri 05-Mar-21 07:34:47

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s dry but seems chilly out. No frost though.

Our grandson (8) has been in school throughout as both parents are keyworkers. I asked him if he was excited to be seeing all his friends back in class on Monday? “Well yes grandma, but Fridays won’t be as good anymore. We have games outside and when there’s more of us it takes ages to get a turn to race, because we just have to stand in the queue’. Typical boy!
?

I’m a happy bunny - I’ve lost 3lbs in weight this week. I’ve said to Himself no more bringing up crisps, biscuits, cake or chocolate from our downstairs larder! If it’s not in, we can’t be tempted can we?

Off to see my stepfather this afternoon.

Hope Friday is kind to us all. I hope your husband’s op today goes well Gagagran and he’s on the phone soon to reassure you. Especial thoughts today of merlotgran and Georgesgran both of whom one day apart have joined a group they didn’t want to be in.

Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

harrigran Fri 05-Mar-21 07:34:32

Good morning from a sunny NE where is is 1 degree but no frost.
I have been awake since 5.30 so went off and read my book for a while.
Our gourmet food delivery came yesterday, unfortunately driver dumped the box on it's side despite this way up sticker.
I am going to have a French yogurt and a pain au raisin for my breakfast.
My thoughts are with Merlot and Georgesgran.

Pittcity Fri 05-Mar-21 07:29:22

Good morning from cloudy Colchester. A fluffy sky is better than the solid grey of late. The gritters were out last night but were promised 7° today.
Phone calls and admin today. A walk to Lidl and a friend picking up something DD left here for her before Christmas that had been forgotten is the extent of our Friday socialising.

Much love to all, especially georgesgran and merlot ?
