Has anyone got a different perspective after watching last evenings interview?
I am be really interested to hear if any of you feel more or less pro the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

I believe, and if anyone knows better they can correct me, that VIPs have a separate departure/arrivals areas that they use rather than mingling with the rest of us. VIPs would include royalty, as well as some politicians, Heads of States, etc.
Assuming this to be the case, Meghan might well have had no need to handle her passport even at the airport, when she was involved in royal visits, as aids would probably carry all paperwork necessary. When she travelled abroad in a personal capacity, surely she would have had her passport in her possession, although she would still not need to go through the regular departures areas.

Bowing in my family is not normal, but I’m not RF. When in Rome . . .
Families have different normals. I’ve just watched a woman letting her dog lick her face. That’s definitely not normal in my house but evidently is in hers.

Rosie51 Thu 11-Mar-21 21:48:32

If I were William I'd certainly be recording any conversation I had with Harry, it might be needed in the future. Who'd want to risk any misrepresentation?

Galaxy Thu 11-Mar-21 21:46:42

Sorry I dont like the word normal, no idea why I used it. Bowing etc to members of your family is very weird behaviour.

Galaxy Thu 11-Mar-21 21:44:44

Having to bow to members of your family is not normal maddy.

Galaxy Thu 11-Mar-21 21:43:26

I loved her troubled look, amazingly effective.

maddyone Thu 11-Mar-21 21:42:53

As has been pointed out, protocol and what happens in the family behind closed doors are not the same. Protocol is a way of doing things when engaged in royal duties. Family life is private, and like other families, not normally shared with the entire world.

Galaxy as has been said often, no one knows what goes on behind the doors of the RF, and therefore since we do not know, we cannot conclude that the behaviour of the RF in private is not perfectly normal, despite your suggestion that no ‘behaviour within the royal family could be seen as normal.’

Of course she would have had to surrender her passport for security reasons and she might well have had a diplomatic passport on her marriage. If not, it would have certainly needed updating. Car keys? She didn't have a car and would have needed a UK driving licence! Keys? What keys that would be relevant to Kensington Palace?
Yes Annie, I felt so sorry for P.W and Catherine today and furious with those two horrors. How would you ever trust them again? What a lovely couple the Cambridges are. I don't think the RF will be washed up at all. There's a lot of sympathy for them, yes even for P.C and Camilla.

Yes have an affair like his father or many affairs like his mother

Oh, he is cut off from his family and his wife’s family

Diana ? the same , cut off from inlaws and blood family, both
did tv interviews looking so troubled , - everyone is cruel to me etc

Galaxy Thu 11-Mar-21 21:34:03

Well possibly preferable to being like his father who knows?

Anniebach Thu 11-Mar-21 21:25:33

Comparing the allegations against Andrew and Charles having
an affair !

Harry - like mother like son

Aztra Thu 11-Mar-21 21:20:35

Yes galaxy - I get what you mean ! I meant protocol as directed by palace courtiers with regard to duties. IMO after HRH the queen has departed the RF are washed up - that's another subject tho but suffice it to say the track records of Andrew + Charles do not bode well for support and continuation of RF as it stands today

Bridgeit Thu 11-Mar-21 21:18:41

Yes Anniebach , it is a very sad state of affairs isn’t it.
Good job the Queen has such a strong constitution.

Bridgeit Thu 11-Mar-21 21:12:04

Good on you NellG, I think I would rather speak but I have to be really passionate about the topic before I contribute.

Galaxy Thu 11-Mar-21 21:12:01

Americans dont get protocol grin as if any of the behaviour within the royal family could be seen as normal.

Anniebach Thu 11-Mar-21 21:09:50

And I would. I am so angry that that toad put his brother in
such a position today when visiting a school

Hang your head in shame Harry Windsor

Aztra Thu 11-Mar-21 21:08:11

Imo Megan is a narcissist. She thought she would be living the Kardashian lifestyle + got a shock - then planned this move all along. Played on his unhappy relations with the RF manipulated him to get what she wanted. Pulls flavor of the month Race card + mental health card to get public sympathy- HE is the one with real mental health issues. Her performance deserved an Oscar. I agree with piers Morgan - don't believe a word she said. Vague accusations about race from a 2nd hand conversation with no facts. She is dangerous - this has nothing to do with race or her mental health. It's a culture clash - Americans don't "get" protocol at all. She didn't get the gushing Hollywood welcome she expected - so in her view she didn't get any help. He -prince harry comes across as a spineless spoiled brat. This isn't the last we have heard from her - if attention isn't forthcoming she will cook up more drama - I suspect if Harry ever makes amends with the RF - she's cut him adrift - played on his insecurities and he is jus a puppet on her strings. The queen will weather this storm - let us hope Harry can

NellG Thu 11-Mar-21 21:00:34

I have Bridgeit on twitter and FB. I stand by my views.

eazybee Thu 11-Mar-21 20:57:28

I would post exactly what I have said if my identity was revealed.
I would very much like to say it to their faces.
Would they go out on an engagement today and brave the press shouting questions at them as they walked into a school, and answer them courteously?

Anniebach Thu 11-Mar-21 20:56:10

They have caused damage to the family, airing family problems is shameful .

Listen to people being interviewed her supporters speak not of her as a person but as a woman of colour.

They stamped their boots on the Queen , Charles,William,
just to get on the telly, yuck

I hope Phillip is ok after his grandson’s grubby attack

NellG Thu 11-Mar-21 20:53:51

Alegrias it certainly could if they didn't understand why. When my husband had to fly a lot for work we had hand over his passport all the time, plus because of what he does leave it with security officials for periods of time. It was just a necessary evil related to what he does for a living - he accepted it because he understood the necessity for it. I think the situation would have been explained to M.

Anniebach Thu 11-Mar-21 20:47:25

She looked so fearful and trapped on her wedding day Alegrias1

Bridgeit Thu 11-Mar-21 20:46:53

Going back to the OP, I do not have an altered opinion of Meghan & Harry.
But I do have altered opinion of social media including GN.

How many of us would post the same comments we have posted on GN , IF we were using our real life identities?

eazybee Thu 11-Mar-21 20:42:29

This seems like voluntarily leaving a firm you have worked for because you have a better offer elsewhere but expecting them to continue paying for BUPA for your whole family. Surely concerns were expressed when they stayed briefly in Canada as to who was paying for their security?
All these claims emerging from the interview, not watched but impossible to escape even on respectable channels, point to a desire to cause as much damage to the royal family as possible after accepting so much from them as an entitlement. They did not even bother to check that their stories matched.
They are a shameful pair of ingrates.

Alegrias1 Thu 11-Mar-21 20:40:50

Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe the minders had the passport with them and she personally didn't have to show it? Or do you imagine she and all the other Royals queued up at Passport Control with the masses?

Does it ever occur to anyone that the very act of taking someone's passport from them could make them feel trapped?
