Meghan and Harry. Has anyone changed their opinion post Oprah?

The thought that someone may want to destroy the credibility of anyone and the very fabric of a family does nothing to keep my world safe and make me feel better suziewoozie.

It's not an issue for me, believing that she was depressed and had suicidal thoughts, but believing her account of that day, that evening and H's inability to do anything to help her other than drag her to the Albert Hall so she wouldn't be alone, is too big a stretch of the imagination.

Annie makes a very valid point and for anyone who has personal experience of a loved one's suicide or attempted suicide cannot fail to have been affected by this.

I don't understand why Meghan, by her own admission, she did not research what it would be like to join the Royal family. She should have looked into how the media made Diana's life a misery also Fergie being ostracizedby the family. She was very naive for a so called savvy woman. Now she's acting like a diva.

How. many of us when we fell in love bothered to research the family of the person we loved?

SW even though you can't know what people on here are qualified to do, no qualifications are required when it comes to having an opinion. I could say ( but am not saying ) that she is lying because people lie, which doesn't vary in the veracity of saying she's telling the truth because people do have suicidal thoughts. They are just opinions which are filtered through people's life experiences. None of us 'should' pass judgment on any other regardless of the issue, yet we do, all the time, no exceptions.

Her opinions about her treatment by the RF are just as leaky as any opinion here. Don't we learn by picking these things apart and finding the grains of truth in the morass?

I stand by my belief thst no one on here can diagnose whether or not MM has MH problems and if so how they would have manifested themselves. That’s the main point I’m making - the judgements about her mental state and tbat being able to go out to the RAH meant she was fine and therefore lying,

Perhaps so, but I think it's the consequence of people telling 'their' truth rather than the truth, which would encompass the thoughts and feelings of all concerned. Anything less is half a story which is no story at all and ripe for speculation.

I find it so sad that so many posters think they know whether someone has MH problems, that they know how how the RF functions and how easy it would have been to act as they ( the posters) think they would have acted in a similar situation. I honestly don’t think it’s possible to appreciate just how different this family is and how our everyday family experiences ( which anyway differ from each others) have no bearing on our being able to remotely understand the dynamics at play during that period in this family.

I do feel sorry for her, if that is the case, as when you are on the brink you depend on those closest to you to look out for your best interests.
As someone who has suffered MH issues himself, I would have thought H would have had no problem overcoming any stigma to get his wife the help she says she needed. Perhaps he wasn't thinking straight.

No, the state of her mental health makes no difference to my world or makes me feel better .

She may have done harm to people who are very depressed/
suicidal. In my opinion she has damaged the years of work trying to halt the -pull yourself together’ attitude.

How can anyone can say they “know” what someone else is thinking or feeling on the basis of watching an interview or reading a gossip column ? All you armchair psychologists who know exactly how someone who is suicidal can act, why don’t you look in the mirror.,

It has worried me that Meghan couldn’t get help for her deteriorating mental health. I choose to donate to MIND whenever I can. On my paperwork Prince Harry is a patron (although probably isn’t now). If someone like Meghan can’t get help, what chance for the rest of the people who access the service? Also I remember the “Fab 4” and “heads together” campaign, why couldn’t he help his wife?

No it’s really not - the point is that none of us on here are qualified remotely to pass judgement on MM’s mental state.

I once came very close to overdosing. There was no way I could have gone to a "do" after backing down because I was still in a terrible way.

I'm not saying M wasn't suicidal, just that we are all different. Actress skills are not something I possess, so I don't know how "the show goes on" without them. It does seem to be a feature of showbiz to still go on stage even if your head is almost hanging off....

I'm not sticking up for her. I'm trying to avoid a ban. She could have felt suicidal, but if she was then Harry should have pulled out of the event for health reasons, got her help and asked another royal to stand in, perhaps Princess Beatrice or Eugenie could have stepped in. No one is indispensable, after all.

It’s futile to criticise the RF on here I do realise, but I thought Marina Hyde’s take on things in the Guardian was interesting - .....concerns about bloodline mean so much more coming from any royal house founded on intermarriage. Even so, it feels a little late for the royals to be taking an interest in genetics. A child being a quarter African American is somewhat less of a talking point than one side of that child’s family having repeatedly bred with its cousins for half of the 19th and 20th centuries.

What a truly unpleasant comment from Marina Hyde in The Guardian.

Well, she isn't backing off - according to the news tonight she complained directly to ITV re Piers Morgan, has had a friend speak openly about the bullying issue and claim there was gross misconduct which was why the employee left. I don't think she wants this to go quiet anytime soon. It seems the Queen's statement only served to fan the flames perhaps?

I maybe didn’t explain myself well - I was trying to make the point that looking at photos/ videos of someone you don’t even know in RL does not mean that you can analyse what’s going on in their heads. Even if you know them in RL and see them physically, it still doesn't mean you know what’s going on. Psychiatry is not a science in the final analysis - I’ve sat and listened to the arguments of psychiatrist in ‘fitness to plead’ cases - one has argued that the person is on the fringe of suicide ( we were told we would have blood on our hands if the case went ahead) and the other argued that it was safe to hear the case.

Are we to understand that the Sussex children will be estranged from their cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and wider family. That would be so sad.

I had no intention of watching the show, not interested and tried really hard to avoid seeing, hearing, watching what would inevitably follow. Unfortunately its been impossible to avoid. So, my opinion is that who isn't angry about something, who hasnt picked up a few hurts along the way? Do we shout it from the rooftops? No we, cry on our pillow, we crumble and stumble, we might even scream and shout behind closed doors. Then we deal with it, get over it and get on with it.
And there is always two sides to every story.
I do think Harry has married his mother. A very beautiful, glamorous, fun loving, attention seeking icon. She also had tons of class, Meghan has none.
I can't see Meghan going out in the streets among the homeless incognito, or holding hands of those dying with HIV, or visiting unexploded landmine sites.
And the Queen's response to the M&H show - how dignified, as always. God bless her
