Has anyone got a different perspective after watching last evenings interview?
I am be really interested to hear if any of you feel more or less pro the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

No onward and upward you think its preferable for you, which is fine and lovely. Ig wasnt preferable for me and thats fine also. We cant expect peoples families to be the same as our own.

Oh dear, his father stopped his allowance ! How on earth will they manage to foot the bill for their 9 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms!! His inheritance from hi mother and great grandmother was only said to be worth about £27 million when he was able to access it

OnwardandUpward Sun 14-Mar-21 18:09:47

That's the doppleganger Kate though. I think she's a body double ! The real Kate was pictured wearing a long coat even though this one is in all the papers. I don't blame Kate for employing a body double though. She probably waited until everyone had finished videoing this "Kate" and was tweeting to all their friends and then walked round quietly. Sensible lady! grin

I think someone is quietly showing M & H how things should be done!

Anniebach Sun 14-Mar-21 17:43:58

maddyone yes , I believe his attacks in the interview were revenge for his father stopping the cash flow.

I accept I am not sympathetic but I find their lies are so cruel
and a lie is a lie, and revenge is wicked.

The treatment Diana said she was subjected to, Meg and Haz
are playing two cards , the Diana and the racist cards.

Haz has taken 24 years to decide he doesn’t like his fathers family with the exception of his grandmother who happens to be the Queen, perhaps he fears being cut out of her will.

They both lied in that interview .

He likes his father’s money though doesn’t he?

I have only ever seen my aunts and uncles and cousins at funerals for about 30 years. We need to be careful about thinking that everyone should have the same experiences as ourselves.

I was speaking from experience as my family were fractured and I did grow up without Aunt/Uncles and cousins being close. It wasn't nice!

In contrast I see people who are close to their cousins and it's for life. It must be lovely and is definitely preferable.

Thanks @Maddyone. They do need to modify the behaviour they will be modeling to their kids, or they may end up being estranged by their own kids one day when they do something their kids don't like.

I certainly agree with that OnwardandUpward, if the family life modelled by Harry and Meghan includes no other relatives except one, then Archie and his little sister will learn that it’s normal to exclude family from your life when they grow up and get married.

OnwardandUpward Sun 14-Mar-21 16:45:21

I still feel sympathy for everyone involved. I can’t find any reason to take sides. Estrangement is devastating for everyone involved.

They believe that the press, fed by ‘the palace’ , began to paint both of them but especially her, in a negative light. They decided to do this interview in fight back mode. It made uncomfortable viewing. It did remind me of the treatment Diana was subjected to. Of course, that is Harry’s major driver.

Estrangement IS devastating.

Unfortunately for M, she's already estranged from her own family and seems to have estranged H from his. They both need some serious therapy or they are going to end up estranged from their own kids.

H&M need to think about what kind of family they're constructing. It's not normal for kids to grow up estranged from their GP , Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

Interesting that you mentioned Ofcom Casdon. Mr. S. has literally just read out to me that there were 41,000 complaints made to Ofcom regarding Piers Morgan and 245,000 complaints about the dance performed by Diversity on BGT. Ofcom decided that that particular complaint wasn't worthy of investigation.

OnwardandUpward Sun 14-Mar-21 16:29:36

Perhaps it was an omission by Hazza, rather than outright lies that caused M to believe certain things that we know are not true.
I can see how it could happen. Man falls in love, wants to marry wife, but knows most women would run a mile if they knew certain things, so keeps quiet. Wife finds out after wedding and man plays dumb so she blames his family not him. (I've seen this happen before)

Mollygo Sun 14-Mar-21 16:09:08

M as the little mermaid? There’s a few fishy things about that.
She wasn’t part of the RF to start with, which the Little Mermaid was.
It would mean she doesn’t have a soul and if she really wants a soul, she will have to fly round the world and do good deeds for 300 years to earn it.
That won’t sit well with the idea of cutting down on greenhouse gases.

lemongrove Sun 14-Mar-21 16:02:22

Ourkid1 I think many people agree with your views of her
Including me.?

OnwardandUpward Sun 14-Mar-21 15:52:59

Yes, too many holes.

Harry would not be the first man to lie to his wife to make things sound more attractive than they are, either.

I completely missed the part about M likening herself to the Little Mermaid! grin Oh dear, when does the ridiculousness stop!

OurKid1 Sun 14-Mar-21 15:08:27

My opinion has become even more entrenched. There were just so many holes in what they (well, mostly Meghan) said.

That 'wedding' before the one which was apparently for the public was probably at most an exchange of vows. The A of C would be highly unlikely to conduct what would be a sham marriage a few days later.

The lack of knowledge about Archie being a prince or not - Harry would be only too well aware of that. The lack of protection - while they were in Canada and the situation was temporary, they were given protection. Now they're not, have taken themselves off and so don't get protection - that is nothing to do with Archie not being a prince. One day he will, when his grandfather is king - I bet they turn it down though.

The racist newspaper headlines behind them - many were from the US (the National Enquirer) the ones from the UK were mostly edited to look racist or taken out of context like the one which allegedly spoke of Meghan's 'seed' tainting the RF. That one was the opposite of racist and was in fact commenting on the "abhorrent" comments made by the partner of the leader a racist group - somewhere to the right of Genghis Khan.

Meghan going to HR to ask for help for her mental state - why would she do that? As she said she was told Human Resources are for employees. The RF have their own doctors and Harry would have known that, having had help himself.

I'm sure there are other holes, but that's enough to sink the great ship Sussex, I'd have thought.

Plus her likening herself to The Little Mermaid - oh, for goodness sake!!!! Words fail me utterly on that one.

mokryna Sun 14-Mar-21 14:45:06

I was talking about this interview to my daughter and asked her what her friends thought about it. We live in France and one of her friends compared M, when she was in a hen coup telling O that they were married in their little garden, to Marie-Antoinette playing farm maid in the hamlet and her saying let them eat cake.

Madgran77 Sun 14-Mar-21 12:18:31

I read it too! smile

Casdon Sat 13-Mar-21 22:38:37

Thanks NellG, I’m glad it’s not just me that like a fact!

NellG Sat 13-Mar-21 22:21:16

I did read it Casdon, I am a fan of facts as well as opinion smile

Casdon Sat 13-Mar-21 22:03:22

The Offcom report I linked really is worth a read, because it looks at all forms of communication , not just newspapers, and references how people access information. The demographic on Gransnet is unsurprisingly not representative.

NellG Sat 13-Mar-21 22:02:48

SW It's about the perceived superior veracity of certain papers, as if reading them imbues some greater quality of opinion. I made the statement about Murdoch to counter the tedious, yet inevitable 'how can you know that' - the hint being that I am pretty familiar with 'the papers' and not because my chips come wrapped in them or because I tuck a certain one under my arm with the name showing to tell people how I vote/think/lean. Perhaps I should have said, my 'qualification' to say what I did, rather than my right. My apologies for confusing you.
