The term "Stepford wife" entered common use in the English language after the publication of Levin's book and it is generally used as a derogatory term which refers to a submissive and docile wife who seems to conform blindly to the stereotype of an old-fashioned subservient role in relationship to her husband. In addition, it is a woman who is robotic, fitting into a societal role of a suburban mother who is robotic and on anti-depressants. She appears perfect, void of any negative emotions, and has a keen ability to fit in.
It's not a term for a mental health problem which narcism is. I'm surprised that those who post continually about how Meghan hasn't a mental health problem, or that she could have received help in the UK, are so keen on supporting an unqualified diagnosis of what is a real problem for some people. It doesn't help people with mental health problems when terms that have a very real meaning for some very ill people are bandied about so freely.

It's not much different in California maddyone slightly more subtle maybe but in some ways that makes it even more invidious, as if the pretence makes it more acceptable. I was there for a month, and the place was rancid with division. It seems to be a place that's only 'woke' for those who can afford to be.

Our daughter lives in Oz, married to an Australian. DH and I always comment on how similar to the USA it seems, apart from the side of the road they drive on.

Funny how they gave a totally different view in the US, though. It’s getting to be a UK v US thing. Most of the people they interviewed from the US who appeared on Australian tv supported her and condemned the RF. On the other hand most of the British went the other way. I still don’t get how anyone could publicly hurt their own family this way.

The Americans will support Meghan because she’s seen as one of their own. With regard to racism, I think they need to look a little closer to home. My experience of America suggests wide spread racism, reflected in the owning of property and the roles different races play in society. Without even using Mr Google I’m aware of the vast discrepancy of convictions and sentences handed down to black people in America against those given to white people. In the Deep South the extreme poverty that many black people experience is jaw dropping, I know because I’ve toured this area and seen and compared the living conditions of black people against white people. I can tell you the reality is truly astounding.

Describing a woman as a ‘Stepford wife’ is extremely unpleasant, but apparently perfectly acceptable. In my opinion such a description is in itself misogynistic. It is mocking a perfectly acceptable life choice.

It's no different a descriptor than the word misogynistic. It's just someone else's observation of a set of behaviours which forms their opinion.

Only something like 5% of Harry’s money came from the Civil List and 95% from the Duchy of Cornwall which also pays for William and Charles. It is run as a business and does make a profit.
I saw a comment yesterday from a palace insider saying that Charles did not cut Harry off - an ill thought plan to do the interview.

Until now I didn’t really understand the term, narcissistic, now I think I do.
The idea of Meghan gazing into a pool, seeing her own reflection as the centre of everything and this leading on to believing her version of everything being the only truth seems very apt to me.
She really does believe it is all about her.
If their lives really are one big fairy tale, they are the luckiest people on the planet.
They should thank their lucky stars and get on with it instead of peddling it constantly to us lesser mortals.

They seem to now have everything they said they wanted but why isn't it enough and why are they still unhappy? I think one of their major mistakes is forming friendships with people much wealthier than them, such as Oprah - worth $2.6 billion, David Foster - worth $150 million, Serena Williams - worth $200 million and George Clooney - worth $150 million. Unless their Netflix deal brings in mega dollars it will be very difficult to keep up with that lifestyle then there will be more ‘poor us’ interviews and books.
