Has anyone got a different perspective after watching last evenings interview?
I am be really interested to hear if any of you feel more or less pro the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

My son rang yesterday and I asked him if he was going to watch the Meghan and Harry interview. His reply "Who?"

I think there are a lot of people who aren't remotely interested in the RF these days.

I am hoping that now that M and H have thrown their family under a bus they will just get on with their lives out of the spotlight. I sincerely hope so.

So she is lying then Blinko?

I don't care if she was a child or a grandmother, or somewhere in between. The attitude that is being shown to her on here is exactly the attitude that I imagine she was exposed to while she was a working Royal. In other words, she should have put up and shut up. Well she didn't and its not for any of us to tell her that she should have.

Maybe you and I and others on here would have known better. Diana and I were exactly the same age and I watched her between her engagement and her wedding and I wondered if she knew what she was letting herself in for. Clearly she didn't, although it was pretty obvious to me and others of the same age.

So none of us get to say that she should have known better and so she must be lying. There but for the Grace of God, and all that.

So how come we lay people, commoners if you like, seem to have a fairly good idea what it must be like to live in that particular gilded cage, but someone who's actually planning to marry into the RF doesn't? I find that hard to credit.

Strangely enough, not everyone in the world is fixated on the British Royal family.

tickingbird Tue 09-Mar-21 16:29:27

Oh no she doesn’t lie does she?? Didn’t know who Harry was and didn’t bother to google him? ??

“It is not any of our places to pick apart claims of racism to make us feel more comfortable”

Alex Beresford

Precisely

Except when it’s plain wrong......as in Meghan claiming that Archie can’t be a Prince cos he’s mixed race, rather than because he isn’t the grandson of a reigning monarch.

She is attributing it to racism when it is constitutional.

^And how selfish to consider suicide knowing what it would do to Harry and their son.^

And there we have it.

People who are at the end of their tether and can't face going on are just being selfish.

Thing is, I don't think people believe she was at the end of her tether... People think she is being disingenuous.

Look at Happysexagenarian's post.

Unlike Diana when she and Charles first got together, this woman is not a child. I find it hard to credit that she had no idea what life with the RF would entail.

I am still puzzled how she flew to America for a baby shower when her passport had been taken from her.

PenE Tue 09-Mar-21 15:58:20

It seems they expected all of the privileges but to choose to cherry pick which bits of the job they would do. I can not see why they expected to continue receiving expensive protection when they had decided to leave. I am sure that even though they were not paid for the interview they have raked in money through it. It saddens me a rift between two brothers, who appeared close, can only have been made deeper by the comments that were made.

Anniebach Tue 09-Mar-21 15:56:14

Yes Meg, everyone has a basic right to privacy , including your
in laws

EllanVannin Tue 09-Mar-21 15:49:15

" Everyone has a basic right to privacy " said Meghan.

Really ? you could have fooled me, airing your gripes in front of 11 million in just this country !

Yammy Tue 09-Mar-21 15:49:01

No, My opinion has not changed about them. At first, she seemed genuine and I thought I had been wrong but something about the stories getting mixed up made me think. She said they were married 3 days earlier than the actual marriage, why all the show and taxpayers money if they wanted to do it privately.
Also no one is clear when the colour of the babies skin was mentioned and in most peoples marriage it is anyway, will he have grans curls or your mums ginger hair when they are naughty they are just like you and if they are good like their dad to their paternal grandparents.
Why didn't she have the sense to learn how to curtsey she must have at some time she's an actress.
One point has been brought up on here why had not really occurred to me had Harry chosen her knowing she could aid his split from the RF whom he now seems to be naming by inuendo and shaming because British taxpayers money is not been spent on them.
Maybe Oprah will go halves with them

If a claim of racism is wrong then it is valid to say so. Archie isn’t being denied a title because he has mixed blood.

tickingbird Tue 09-Mar-21 15:34:11

Did she know?

Dinahmo: I think that they have trashed the RF, more so than Andrew's behaviour. What, more than a sexual predator? If anyone believes that, they have a warped set of values.

CC: I think some heavy footed royal asked the question and she chose to take it the wrong way and twist it to racism. It didn’t need to be twisted. It IS racism!

Dinahmo: I genuinely don't think that the UK is excessively racist. When was the last time you had your house egged or rocks thrown through your window, as the only targeted house, and also as the only black family on a street?

Alegrias1: How is one "excessively" racist? Is it OK if we're just a little bit racist? Is it OK if we're just racist towards some people? Who decides? White people DON’T get to decide if something isn’t racist, that is for sure.

LondonMzFitz: shocking comment was from Harry saying his father doesn't take his calls. My God, what father does that? I always thought Charles a coward, why would you not take your sons calls when you know how much pain he must be in, when you have a grandson in another country. Exactly. Charles yet again showing his true colours. Never mind M&H destroying the RF, it will crumble under Charles the pillock.

Anniebach: Charles is criticised for not taking his son’s calls, no matter that Charles too is a son who must be very concerned for his mother and for his father who is still in hospital OBVIOUSLY the time Harry was referring to very much preceded the interview, before Philip's illness.

Alegrias1 Tue 09-Mar-21 15:23:41

It is never acceptable to say that someone considering suicide is being selfish, whether they are a single parent in a high rise with no idea what the future holds or whether they are a Duchess.

If people think otherwise, then that explains a lot of the carping and insensitive comments that are on this thread.

Anniebach Tue 09-Mar-21 15:21:30

More enlightened Algrias1 than those posting here , really ?

You were going to marry a black S.A who was arrested and murdered in Pretoria prison.

Your adored daughter took her life 3 years ago , a victim of
Bi polar ?

We have somethings in common

tickingbird Tue 09-Mar-21 15:13:08

Just to add that as for speculating about Archie’s hair colour, it’s black or very dark. There were some black and white pics of them on the beach a few days ago and Archie was toddling along. He has very dark hair.

merlotgran Tue 09-Mar-21 15:12:24

I thought Oprah thanking Meghan for the invitation to the wedding was a bit weird coming nearly three years after the event. It just reinforced the rumour that they barely knew each other at the time.

We have just about the simplest National Anthem in the world. Only one short verse is normally sung and a three year old can learn it in a few minutes so why did Meghan make such a big deal about nobody teaching her to sing it?

Deedaa Tue 09-Mar-21 15:10:54

Alegriasl You are talking about a very rich woman with a very rich husband. All the medical help in the world would have been a phone call away. Apparently much easier just to blame the palace.

I think the whole thing just proves that William was right all along and they got married far too quickly. If they had waited she could have found out more about what royal life meant and, if she didn't think it was for her, they could have decided to leave before the wedding and saved us all a lot of money.

NellG Tue 09-Mar-21 15:09:31

In the interests of balance Alegrias although I don't agree that suicide is selfish, she was five months pregnant at the time so it's easy to see why some people might think it is given she said she wasn't safe to be left alone at that point.

tickingbird Tue 09-Mar-21 15:08:39

Yes I’ve changed my opinion. I didn’t much care for M before and that was a gradual realisation but I have always liked Harry. Now I can’t abide both of them.

The segment I watched before drifting off to sleep showed an over entitled pair being vindictive and spiteful. M quite clearly wants status and Harry himself, stated ‘I’m a Royal prince’. It’s patently obvious they wanted to stay Royal but live in the US and just do the bits they want and still get round the clock security.

I believe the only reason the Queen wasn’t attacked is because they know that would be an attack too far. I hope they live to regret it.
