Meghan and Harry. Has anyone changed their opinion post Oprah?

I did not watch the interview, I had no desire to listen to their constant whining. I did, however, read some of the newspaper reports. Their lack of emotional intelligence and self awareness is unbelievable Harry moaning about Charles ceasing to subsidise them, leaving only his millions from his mother and the Queen Mother, is crass to say the least. There are people who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic, people who cannot afford to feed rheir children and have to rely on food banks, and he is whinging about having to sign deals worth millions with Netflix and Spotify.

And how selfish to consider suicide knowing what it would do to Harry and their son.

And there we have it.

People who are at the end of their tether and can't face going on are just being selfish.

I can't believe that a woman of her age could have been so naive about her future life with Harry as part of the British royal family. She wasn't a young girl from a sheltered background; she knew how Harry's mother had been treated. She was an adult, an actress, a businesswoman, a woman of the world. What did she expect, a handbook or tuition course on 'how to be a Royal'?? And how selfish to consider suicide knowing what it would do to Harry and their son.

To even do that interview with Oprah Winfrey was bad enough, but to reveal things that she knew would be hurtful to the royal family, in particular the Queen while her husband is ill, is despicable. Megan may be a woman but she still has a lot of growing up to do.

On the Royal wondering how dark the baby might be is there any difference from wondering what colour hair it might have . We have had the reverse of this in our family . DD-in=law is from the middle east and her mum took one look at their first son and said " he is does not look like one of us " . Were we upset no he looked like his dad .

This woman says she didn't realise what she was getting into before her marriage to a Prince, everyone knows about the Royal family and how they have to live their lives. Did she think she could just pop out for a latte with her mates for an afternoon? She certainly isn't that stupid cos she knew what trouble that interview would cause, she's a calculating young woman with a weak man who has now lost his whole family and heritage because of her. She alienated her own family and now she's made sure he won't have his now either. People in the real world have lost family members to a pandemic, what a time to sit there airing their dirty laundry, whining about how they feel so hard done by.
The film roles will fly in now for Megan after that clever piece of acting last night cos they are short of a bob or two and can't afford their own security. Aww didums.

Didn’t watch the interview, haven’t changed my mind about anything or anybody.

Except perhaps I’m a bit more enlightened about the Great British public as represented on Gransnet, many of whom seem unable to grasp the realities of racism and mental health issues in the 21st Century, and are intent on blaming people for not behaving EXACTLY as they want them to.

I’ve got no more to say because anything I do say will result in me being labelled a “Meghan supporter” or some equally childish name.

I think it's wise for any well known,wealthy parents to hide the identity of their child as they could be a target for kidnappers so think the photo is a sensible precaution.
The main surprise for me from the Interview is that Harry seemed to be saying if Charles hadn't stopped funding their lifestyle and Security Bills he wouldn't be doing the Interview.
Harry and Meghan are wealthy in their own right so should pay their own way if they want to live a private life.They should have had their "backyard" wedding and skipped the Windsor show and stayed away from all of the publicity in the first place.
Anne's children haven't got Royal Titles and I would think ,from comments by Harry about his brother and father,that not having one should be viewed as a positive.
They seem to be living a very pleasant ,relaxed life now ,good for them,the News today is that many UK families will be struggling to feed their children that is a fate unlikely to happen to Harry and Meghan.
I held a Party in my home when my friends came to watch the wedding on Tv .We were all delighted that Harry and Meghan were getting married and were happy for them both.Now it seems it was all a bit of a sham.

H&M can only hope that if they fail to measure up to perfect parent status that neither Archie or his sister decide to tell the entire world how 'daddy didn't take my calls' or how 'daddy has stopped financially supporting me' and 'I only have my inherited millions to live off'.

My admiration for them has increased for the way they are taking a stand against the British Press, particularly the tabloids. I'm glad Oprah appears to be on their side to balance the blanket negativity over here as the UK Editors close ranks.

It makes me feel depressed and ashamed to think how much our nation's minds allow themselves to be influenced by what is soaked up from the media. So I'm taking one tiny stand - I'll no longer buy the Daily Mail for its puzzle pages, and that's a big sacrifice for an addict! As far as my subscription to the Telegraph is concerned (Allison Pearson has gone right down in my estimation with her bitchy, sniggery idea of humour) .. that may well go too.

There were a lot of 'carrot tops' in my father's family with the accompanying freckles, sandy eyelashes and eyebrows and a tendency to go instead of brown in the sun! I imagine everyone in the Royal Family was thinking how wonderful it would be if the baby his mother's slightly darker colouring. But maybe I'll be accused of being 'Gingerist'!

I personally speculated as to whether the baby might have ginger hair!

I was particularly puzzled by the comments concerning the timing of the declared intent to 'step back', when Oprah asked if they had 'blindsided the Queen'. Meghan said they had been discussing it for a long time, and they looked at each other and said almost in unison 'two years'. They had been married for eighteen months when they made this declaration and left the UK - so are they saying they were talking about breaking free before they were married? If so, why did they have a huge wedding and refit Frogmore Cottage? That didn't make any sense, and I wonder just how racist the comments about skin colour and the future baby were. Every family tends to discuss whether a child might have Dad's nose, Mum's eyes, and whose general colouring the child might have. Meghan has a white father and doesn't have a dark skin herself, and surely can't be regarded as a black woman, or person of colour. She is mixed race so I am at a loss to see why this would be an issue for anyone - Harry is very fair skinned which would dilute the genes even further.

I don't agree about "most of America" being on their side, 17 million who actually saw the programme out of 320 million doesn't constitute most as a percentage. I believe the majority of that country don't give a flying f* about Meghan and Harry as they are merely trying to keep their heads above water at one of the most difficult times the world has experienced since World War 2. Just why would the average person care about two people carping on about how hard life was when they were just getting by on his 20 million pound inheritance. Particularly if you happen to be amongst the vast majority, who can't pay your bills or put food on the table or afford to see a doctor. A few mouthy rich celebrities and commentators don't make up the majority, they just shout the loudest, and I can't help thinking of Rick Gervais' apt comments at the Golden Globes when he addressed such an audience made up of those types, "you have no idea how most people live"

I think Harry comes across as weak and the way he's thrown his family under the bus is pretty horrible. Even the best of families have difficulties in the way dynamics play out, I know I have at times in my life, but these are private matters. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors, there are usually two sides to family disagreement and arguments, but the way it was presented has made it pretty hard for the Palace to have any comeback without appearing vindictive.

He has left an enormous question in most minds as to who made the comments about Archie's prospective skin colour before he was born and inviting speculation and finger pointing and possibly unfair criticism to rain down on them. In any event is it fair to take any conversation out of context and put it out in the public domain. Incidentally, I thought that issue was discussed with Oprah prior to the interview so her jaw dropping "I'm sorry" response to it when it was raised comes across as pretty disingenuous under the circumstances. All part of the faux over dramatisation complete with musical interludes to heighten the pathos Along with the photo released in the aftermath of the programme, of the three of them in the garden. Why was that released now and not before with the other one, can't help thinking there was a bit of a "look at us in our happy ever after bliss so two fingers to you lot" All in all it came across as a pretty sycophantic exercise.

There is a difference as to how British and Americans look at things and nothing exemplifies that more than their television productions, I remember when I first went to the US wondering how they could find such wall to wall everyday shite at all palatable, but of that standard run of the mill, not their exceptional productions, is standard fare there.

It’s difficult to believe two people who lie

This interview raised the issues of racism and mental health. Even the usually trite, superficial Jeremy Vine show included some good coverage on those important issues.
A pregnant mother feeling suicidal - oh it’s only Meghan Markle so lots of posters here dismiss this is either not true, or typical self seeking from MM.
It shows the posters in a more negative light than the subject of the vile comments

I thought it was interesting that Oprah used the expression "your truth" rather than "the truth", reminiscent of Kellyanne Conway's "alternative facts". I wonder whether Oprah said that deliberately and if so for what reason?

I think even less of her now after watching that dreadful interview.

I’m not sure if this has been mentioned here before but did anyone hear her say she had lost her father?

I can imagine the poor chap shouting at his tv screen “No you haven’t lost me. I am still alive, waiting to see you and your husband and baby who, incidentally I have never met”

It was a theatrical performance through and through complete with her dabbing delicately at her eyes.

Why on earth didn’t OW challenge her on some points?
I thought she is supposed to be a hotshot interviewer.

What a dreadful situation she has put the Royal family in.
Do they speak up or keep a dignified silence?

I have a feeling the vast majority of people will side with the family rather than this petulant spoilt couple.

I didn’t have a particularly strong opinion before last night. But I now think she is a very dangerous, self seeking woman who blames everything that doesn’t work out the way she wants it to on racism. She is a coercive controller who has successfully isolated Harry from his entire family. If and when their marriage falls apart, he will have nowhere to turn. Oprah didn’t ask any onerous questions and I have no doubt, in spite of their assurances, that they agreed in advance what would be covered.
Meghan reminds me of people I have worked with in the past. She slyly appeared to be sweet and caring and mindful of not naming of any villains because it would cause them damage, whilst at the same time making sure everyone knew exactly who she was talking about!
In my opinion the Royal Family should make absolutely no statement...they should not dignify this treachery with a response
