Well I actually missed it, but have just been shown the vid of Alex Beresford giving his take on Meghan & Harry, I must say I don’t think it’s done Piers any favours upping and walking off like that

Avia PM has form in criticising MM both on GMB, newspaper columns and Twitter - he has been doing this for a goodly while now in a way that some think of as bordering on the obsessive. If this were a one-off he might be given the benefit of the doubt but it really isn’t - it’s a pattern of behaviour. If you read up on him you will also see he has form in hounding people such as his role in phone hacking and publishing the photo of a person in the public eye laving/entering a rehab facility. I think some people ( I’m not suggesting you) should be wary of ‘my enemy’s enemy is my friend’

I think the overarching question relating to this “news” presenter is the way that the media treat women. In this case we are talking about the Duchess of Sussex, but it could be Diana, Sarah, Camilla, and numerous others I am sure you could mention.

A letter was issued in 2019 by a wide cross party group of women MPs deploring the racism being shown in certain sections of the media towards the Duchess stating that the “colonial undertones” so evident in much of the reporting was totally unacceptable.

Women of colour in particular are faced with being accused of lying or exaggerating their lived experiences of prejudice by largely middle aged white males, who knowledge of a woman’s of colour life is zero.

This needs to be addressed, and I think that parliament needs to look at the issue with some urgency, as well as institutions like of Ofcom.
Yesterday a statement issued by the SoE claiming that the media was never racist in its reporting (something even the most right winger must have found embarrassingly untrue) has be rebutted by over 160 editors of numerous papers including the FT and Guardian.

There will be a lot of people who agree with Piers Morgan’s opinion and are keeping quiet because it’s PC to do so. I have no idea what the truth is, H and M can say whatever they want because they know the RF will not respond and perpetuate the controversy.
One thing for certain they are playing the media for all the coverage they can and clearly see them as a meal ticket for the future. Using your family in this way is pretty low wether it is true or not, I particularly criticize Harry for allowing it to happen. It all about Meghan, she is going to have to keep up her victim profile long term or the cash will dry up very quickly.
Of course she could go back to acting to earn a living and Harry could re-educate, start a new career and earn money to support his family.

I didn't watch the whole of the Harry and Meghan interview but the part I did see she didn't say she was told Archie wouldn't be a "Prince" but that he wouldn't have a title. I am prepared to be corrected by those who saw the whole programme.

Piers Morgan has been obsessed with Meghan ever since he once went for a drink with her and touted her as his new best friend, he did the same with Trump initially boasting about how close they were and then turning on him (although in that case perhaps understandable!)

There are a few presenters and Piers Morgan is one of them who ask their guests a question then interrupt their reply and talk over them. He is very opinionated in his views but others are every bit as entitled to their opinions as well. He cut his own throat yesterday morning.

I have never particularly liked Piers Morgan. He’s too loud and brash for me but I do often agree with what he says, including his views on Meghan.

The tv programme allegedly had complaints about what he said but how many viewers completely agreed with him ?
Possibly a greater number than those who disagreed.

I fear we are very close to a time where presenters will all be very bland, and of course politically correct.

I am afraid if Piers Morgan said anything about Meghan, I would double check those facts. His behaviour towards her has been creepy and obsessional, I would imagine Alex like many is utterly wary of such odd behaviour.

Piers Morgan ‘giving the true facts” - which facts were they AviaParva?
Channel 4 and radio 4 news played some of the discussion. Morgan said he didn’t believe MM’s report of her mental health problems, indicated he didn’t believe a word she said.
He’s a bully, is he modelling himself now on those American shock jock presenters. Those who shout outrageous nonsense and get paid for it.

Thank you for asking that question and not assuming the worst! I appreciate that . I only watched the very brief part where Piers Morgan was trying to explain that rules in existence for a long time only allow for grandchildren of the monarch and grandchildren of the first child of the Prince of Wales to be entitled to the Prince/Princess title, and that Archie was therefore not yet entitled to that title& that Harry and Meghan would have known this. The Alex guy couldn’t grasp that simple fact , and that appeared to be very frustrating to Piers Morgan, as indeed it was to me! Hence I switched off and went for a walk.
Anyone who knows me knows that in my personal life and in my career I have always worked to prevent or counter any form of discrimination and injustice , but that also extends to never making judgements until both parties have been heard, which is why I found the unilateral judgment of the interview contents so unfair.

He’s probably got a new job already.
I quite liked him & often agreed with him.
It’s Naga I can’t stand. So smug with a real condescending attitude.

Makes one wonder if the rumours about his being approached by that new news station with Andrew Neil are true? If so, he already had something to consider so, when rattled this morning, he walked. Ready to join something else?

I hope not. I am looking forward to an alternative programme as I can't stand Piers Morgan, Nagga Munchetty or Charlie.

Piers Morgan has a poor reputation as a presenter although I believe he is a forensic interviewer. The point about his behaviour this morning is that he knew/knows MM, therefore I would believe his assessment of her 'mental health' issues.
Another scalp for MM's belt?

Extraordinary. Piers Morgan assesses somebody’s mental health. Really ?
Oh well another opportunity for a stab at she who can do no right,

vegansrock Wed 10-Mar-21 05:05:34

He won’t be short of job offers (unfortunately )

MissAdventure Tue 09-Mar-21 23:25:22

I shall miss old Piers, ranting away in the mornings.
He'll be a hard act to follow.

It’s also true that Ofcom are investigating yesterday’s programme after receiving many complaints. The truth could be that it was all staged or he has in effect been sacked. I don’t suppose we’ll ever know but wouldn’t be surprised to see him on AN’s new venture. He certainly is an example of Teflon Man

maddyone Tue 09-Mar-21 23:10:58

I never watch him so don’t have an opinion. A lot of people seem to dislike him though.

I haven’t seen PM before nor watched him as a presenter. on GMB. I haven’t seen this programme before either. What a rude and bullying character. He continually shouted over the top of others and stormed out in a huff. I was glad he left as a reasonable discussion followed. Well done Alex Beresford for refusing to be brow beaten. I’d like to see more of Alex Beresford so perhaps he could replace PM? At least then the discussion would be more civil even in disagreement.

Seems to me that PM and Jeremy Clarkson are cut from the same cloth. Totally obnoxious!

I don’t think it’s accurate that he knew /knows MM other than an online ‘friendship’ before she met PH. I do also wonder if ‘knowing’ someone means you can assess their mental health.
