Hi Rufus, you do labour a point! Fully expected City to hammer us, ironically we didn’t play that badly, but our defence needs rapid improvement. Your allotment, sorry ‘royal’ allotment, way above my station and I’m not too good at forelock tugging ?. We’ve had an extremely windy night, still gusty now, a sharp shower or two later, but much excitement, new greenhouse expected this afternoon. That’ll be this weekends project, I’ll be supervisor/coffee maker, my husband has little interest in growing stuff, but likes a spot of DIY.
Take care ?

You a Saints fan then Rufus ? I take it you are talking about AFL ?
Nanna8 No and No! smile Can't abide the game1.
Like you we came here 50 years ago, but probably unlike you we've never been to an AFL game or the previous VFL.
Sorry, yes! I was introduced to the game once in 1971 shortly after arriving when we watched VIC play W.Australia before State of Origin applied.
VIC, of course had all top VFL players and won something like 275 to 5 and everyone thought it was a good game! Stone me!
Our two lads , who are now Senior Cits hmm, have been Tigers and Magpies respectively, ever since.

By "Saints" I meant the nickname of Southampton Football (Soccer) Club , Jaxjacky's team who have just been thrashed 5-2 at Etihad Stadium. by my team, Man City!
So it might be prudent to keep off that topic for a while; or else it could be the end of a beautiful friendship if it hasn't happened already. hmm
Nice talking to you, as they say

You a Saints fan then Rufus ? I take it you are talking about AFL ? I have been a fan since 1975 . Waiting, waiting for that Premiership title. We are a mixed marriage here, husband goes for the horrible Hawks and as for the grandchildren, dare I say it, Collingwood. Obviously not brought up proper.

Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go! Oscar Wilde

Royal news from “Down Under” I’m pleased to report a poll conducted by a TV News station today confirmed a majority supports retention of our Monarchy status, despite all that’s been going on.
Sorry Megs! I haven’t watched “The Interview” and don’t intend to waste time on what is a big commercial adv.
I’m a dyed-in-the- wool Royalist, a card-carrying member of the Royal Duchy of Lancaster and once the tenant of a Royal allotment situated with others at the perimeter of Windsor Great Park and just beyond our back fence when we lived in a row of 25 Victorian terraced houses.
I can just imagine Jaxjacky going green with envy with her “commoner” allotment, and it’s not St. Patricks Day till next month. grin
Having been established under a WW1 Act they could only be used initially for vegies, not flowers and spuds had to be King Edwards only. No hang-ups about Brussels sprouts then!
Cometo think of it though, Vera’s widowed Aunty living next door used half her allotment for flowers which she’d stick in a bucket “For Sale” on her front doorstep.
I don’t recall her being carted off to the Round Tower at the Castle for treason or whatever!
Sorry about all that; I got carried away and we didn’t even get to our meetings with the Royals at their Polo matches at Smith’ Lawn!
Happy memories! smile

Lovely weather here today; 25C, blue sky all day and similar forecast for Thurs. and Friday.

Jaxjacky; Thanks for that “arm-raising” explanation, although I can understand Kevin de B.being able to put the ball precisely on someone’s head, but other lesser mortals also do it so perhaps it also means something else!? hmm

I’ve got over City’s loss and comforted that it was United what did it;!
At least it was kept in the family, so to speak!
Hope it doesn’t happen again!
Best wishes that the Saints could be on a roll!
