One Mothers Day, when I was young and thoughtless, I overslept.
I was woken by the sound of a coffee cup placed on my bedside table, and a pithy “Happy Daughters Day”!
This is one of my favourite memories, and was typical of our relationship. We had our ups and downs of course, but I had a lot of laughs with my Mum. She was witty and sharp (brain, not tongue).
Incidentally, she always used to tell me not to buy Mothers Day flowers, as she didn’t want me to be ripped off, so I always bought her something else.
