Do you use your landline?

I use my landline regularly and pay a monthly price which includes all my calls.
The reception is better than my mobile

Very rarely use it. I have one friend who always calls that number but mostly it is sales calls which I just hang up on immediately.

No! There isn't even a phone plugged into it. I've only got it because I couldn't get Internet without having a Landline installed .

I never use my landline and have never shared the number, therefore my voicemail message goes something like this “if you hear my voice then you must have dialled the wrong number as I don’t use this phone, please check the number you think you have called”

I heard two ladies on the line once commenting how rude my message was....... I often wonder if they ever got through to the number they really wanted ?

All the time if I'm home. Those close, like family and friends, also use it. If they ring my mobile by the time I've found it it's too late and I have to ring back.

yes i use my landline its cheaper esp when most of my friends have the same provider as me.so it cost me nothing for the call

Never use my landline. I don’t even know the number ?
We moved house 18 months ago and have never learned it. I think I have it stored on my mobile somewhere .

Yes, we still use the landline as we have no mobile signal where we live and it still works during a power cut.

Yes I love my landline. I can make as many calls as I like on it for no extra money and it is MUCH easier to hear the calls than on my mobile. Also I can never remember where I have left my mobile and tend to panic if it goes off!

Yes, not everyone can afford mobile costs. My mum has a pay as you go mobile as she doesn’t want a contract. She does not want long conversations on a mobile, so she uses her landline to call me and I use mine to call her. We are both on the same company so the calls are free.

Shortlegs I guess you would have me down as a Luddite then as I do still use the landline for receiving and making calls.

The people who call me on it are not Luddites, they are simply people who are aware of my hearing impairment and know that I find the landline easier than my mobile for audio conversations. For some reason my hearing aids are more effective with a landline than my mobile.

I assure you that I am fully conversant with and an avid user of all modern technology.

I have a gorgeous vintage phone. Just decoration now. I live on a narrow boat...no connection.

I receive calls on my landline, mostly from my ‘elderly’ friends who won’t use my mobile number, but I never make calls on it.

My mobile is always kept in my handbag and so will often be in another room. I certainly don't hear it then, so landline is only sure way of phoning me. How do others cope with this problem?

We don’t get a radio or tv signal in our house so have to have a SKY dish and use wireless radio. The mobile signal is poor as well so we use the landline. We do get a lot of scammers but my husband but rabbits on at them in Welsh and the line goes dead for some reason! Our house is surrounded on 3 sides by a church, old brewery and a 13th century pub so very thick walls everywhere.

I rarely use the landline as I have to pay for calls while my mobile calls are included in my contract. My MiL calls my landline as she uses hers and if she calls my mobile it costs more. Unfortunately my landline phone in the living room is cordless and no-longer lolds charge well so we always get cut off unless I go into the kitchen and transfer to the corded one. I have told her this but she still does it, so I have to call her back on my mobile when the phone dies! Most of the calls on the landline are unwanted so sometimes I ignore it. Often when I've missed a call I ring back with my mobile usingthe number from 1471 and find that 'the number has been dialed incorrectly' clearly all scams!

I left my mobile at my daughters so the landline was useful to call her to hang on to it for me. Plus I have friends who don't like using mobiles and only have basic models so like the landline.

Mobile signal at home is very temperamental having to move from front to back and upstairs, even down to bottom of garden. If any visitors get a call they are amazed what you have you have to do. Also DH is hearing impaired, does have cochlear implant but even with that mobile phones are not good, and he has a very upmarket model to try to facilitate. Yes we use the landline, much much better for hearing dificulties especially in poor signal areas. My AC know if they want to have any contact with their father to use landline, email or text.

Don't have a landline. We just use mobiles.

I use my landline all the time. I don't have a mobile phone. I can't see to use one but I do have s tablet.

I don't use it much for calling but all the time for incoming calls, partly because I guard my mobile number with my life!

It also has the enormous advantage in that it intercepts calls made from numbers that are not in my contacts list and asks who is calling; It then phones me and lets me hear what the person says, after which I can choose to accept or reject the call. When I check the calls list, nearly every day there are calls from unknown numbers that I haven't been bothered with because presumably the caller has hung up when asked for information!

Our landline contract gives us broadband but not free calls. So we have it plugged in with the ansafone on. Anyone calling the landline can leave a message ( scammers ring off!) and we can return calls on our mobiles. Simples!

No it's unplugged but we have to have one because of the Virgin deal. Also it's silly money just to make a call.

Bit rude about being called a Luddite, most of us have both nowadays, so do embrace technology. Luddite caller do you have an electric car, do you have pv and/or solar panels?
