Dumb Questions radio presenters ask!

I hate it when they say: "And how do you FEEL?" when speaking to someone after some catastrophe has afflicted them. Can't bear it - so crass.

When I worked in local radio, reporters/interviewers were under a standing instruction NOT to ask that question simply because it is so crass and insensitive.
The rules may have changed now - but it is a long time since I heard anyone from any broadcast outlet ask the question.

I agree it is such an insensitive and stupid question.

I remember watching a programme years ago about children who had been shipped off to Australia after being told their parents were dead. The (Australian) interviewer was speaking to a man who had found out his mother had only died a couple of years previously and he started crying. The interviewer put his hand on his shoulder and turned the camera away - that impressed me. Most UK interviewers would have had the camera zoom in onto their faces to capture every tear.

When younger I remember being puzzled to hear radio presenters ask what I thought were stupid questions - i.e. ones I’d have thought they surely must know the answer to.

Then it dawned on me that the reason they ask, is that some listeners will not know the answers, so it can’t be assumed that all of them do.

They did indeed Redhead a credit to both their teams and the game of rugby.

I thought that interviewer was an agitator too both Captains held their own very well.

I’m a rugby fan and was astounded at how the interviewer at the end of the match was trying her hardest to get the captains of both the England and Wales teams to ‘have a go’ at each other relating to contentious tries by the Welsh team. Neither rose to the bait .... gentlemen to the last!

That annoys me beyond anything Luckygirl especially when they are speaking to a bereaved person.

Unbelievably thick would be my description of them.

Television reporters when they arrive at the scene of a "breaking news story" and they say details are still sketchy!
Do they think that they can turn up at the scene and know everyting?

I remember listening to BBC radio Merseyside reporting on a dead body being found. Up an alleyway the body had knife wounds all over it. The reporter asked someone they were interviewing if there are any suspicious circumstances?

Yep- I've given up watching tv news for that very reason.
