I keep a 'Where is it' book. Very useful until I forget to record something . I can't find my hair trimming gear, or my wig!

My mother called hers "the toot drawer". To rhyme with "foot".

I don't have one any more. I hate the concept of "miscellaneous" (although I like the word!) and have organised nearly everything now.

Haberdashery, stationery, kitchen gadgets, are all sorted into compartments and drawers and sometimes even labelled.

I am an untidy person so this demanded a bit of effort but now I'm retired I have those extra few seconds to put things back where they belong.

There are still a few projects to be tackled, such as a washing basket full of sheet music. But I'm getting there!

We were in hysterics when we first saw it, because he was describing several drawers one drawer in our house perfectly, and since then it has always been referred to as the 'man drawer' ?

My mum always called it the ‘rubbish drawer’ ?

When we were newly married I had a letter to post.
I automatically opened the sideboard drawer and had a nasty shock: where oh where were the books of postage stamps I just knew I would have found in my Mum's sideboard drawer?
I obviously needed to start a "drawer" of my own!

This reminded me of when I was young & living at home with my parents ( many years ago!) We didn’t have a drawer we had a cupboard under the stairs and everything not needed ( but might be one day) was put into it . My mother called it the glory hole . If visitors were coming her method of tidying was to throw things in there & if any of us mislaid anything the cry would go up ‘have you looked in the glory hole’!

Too many drawers full of random stuff in our house and as I couldn't decide which were worst I won't be showing you mine, sorry.

I emptied my junk drawer into an empty plastic Quality Street tub and tucked it away on a shelf in the kitchen. Now I have a drawer that I can usefully use again for things like kitchen knives, potato peelers and the tea strainer

I remember reading that the whole purpose of a potato masher is to jam up a kitchen drawer.

Those drawers are tidy compared to mine!

My DGS loves my ‘cracker ‘ draw, full of all that rubbish from Christmas crackers- miniature playing cards, spinning tops, those damn fortune telling fish......?

Our house appears totally uncluttered. Open a sideboard or any random space then stand back - an avalanche !
Should add kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms are neat as a pin - does anyone still say that ? Probably not.
Really cannot be arsed to bother until absolutely necessary which could be within the next 3 months or so. Or maybe not.

We don't have dumping drawers, we have a dumping house! Random orphaned 'stuff' is ferreted away in any vacant drawer, cupboard, shelf, flat surface, room, loft or shed. They'll probably stay there for months, years even, until something prompts us to find or use them, or throw them out. And my craft/sewing room takes that to a whole new level!! We've never been tidy people and we're not likely to change now.

We have an "I don't know" drawer where things that don't seem to have a proper home get put. It expands to embrace the "that'll come in useful" approach as well as the "too good to throw away" school of thought. The drawer is rammed, so the chances of locating anything in it, are slim, to say the least ?

We have an ‘anti Blu’ drawer. Blu is our dog who is a thief. So things that we really can’t let him have (though he will always swap for a treat somethings could be damaged), car keys, glasses, my purse, letters that need answering and drawings from our granddaughter go in there. We have a junk drawer as well, of course.

I loved the Lego tape rack the children made for their dad on Escape to the Chateau. As we don't live in a chateau I'm not sure where we would hang one here, but we always seem to be looking for tape.

My nightmare has to be fitted bedroom units. Ok what's wrong with that you might say until you open the doors ' in my units' where can be observed clothes on hangers on clothes already on said hangers. Will I ever get to wear them ?

I like to think of mine as 'organised chaos'!

I have my organised drawers my DH has his shed and a "Study", which I no longer dust or vac. I am on strike until it is tidy.

This forum has made me so happy that I am not the only person with one of these drawers at least I know where the ball of string that I need once in a blue moon is !
