That’s poignant muse. It’s how I view this cosy kitchen of soop’s too. It’s full of kind people. I guess we all appreciate a safe haven now and again.

Hi again, bit hectic earlier.
DS visited at 4 yesterday afternoon with relatively new GF who seemed pleasant enough, but I’ve heard negative things, I’ll reserve judgment. Swiftly followed by a hair cut, the birds will be grateful for the nesting material, by this time I was totally chilled, not in a good, couple of glasses way! I didn’t warm up until bed/electric blanket time; same here muse relentless frost, no sign of rain. Allotment watering started on Friday, I’ve only got onions, garlic, potatoes in, carrots and beetroot sown today. I also started greenhouse sowing, it was very warm in there, should have had my haircut in the greenhouse!
Have a pleasant evening all, we’re fed, so Call the Midwife followed by LoD beckon.

Hello from a sunny Cornwall. Missed yesterday. It would have been a moany post if I had dropped by. There are days when nothing goes to plan and Saturday turned out to be just that. Well it started on Friday evening. 2nd vaccination went very well yesterday despite my mood and pains. Doctor was full of questions regarding meds and any after effects from 1st pfizer. Very efficient. That's it now. Our little cards are fully stamped and tucked away in purse/wallet.

Inside now as the chilly air is back. Can't remember getting up to no frost for ages. No rain forecast for next week either.

annodomini My bean seeds went into pots a week ago (in a polytunnel). They won't be going outside till mid May.

Urmston The dinner sounded yum. Read about it this morning. Can't match it but it made me dig a bit of venison out of the freezer and it's slow cooking in 1/2 a can of Murphys now. (Only way MrM will eat it - he hate pink meat).

Freezer still has a lot of beetroot in from last year. A recipe search turned up beetroot chocolate brownies. Made a tray 20cmx30cm. All I need now is some cornish clotted cream or icecream. One or both will be on tomorrow's shopping list.

No call from dear son? but a very long one from darling daughter. Two months, she will be visiting.??‍♀️ ?

The poems have set me thinking. There are two lines from one of my favourite songs by Guy Garvey (Elbow) that stick in mind. I finish with these words tonight. They represent how I feel about soop's kitchen.

Thinking of you Panache?

Good to see you on line, Panache, but sad to hear of the deterioration in your DH's health. It is so hard on you to have to watch him suffering. We do think of you and wish you both some comfort in the coming weeks. It has been another lovely spring day in Cheshire. I spent the afternoon with a friend who is suffering the nasty side effects of chemotherapy. I don't know how she keeps her spirits up, but she does. It may have been warm this afternoon, but as the sun goes down, we are reminded that we can wake up to a white morning.

I'm sure Maw will see your request soop.

A gorgeous one is is too here in south Manchester. We had a delicious Sunday dinner (I know - self praise is no recommendation) this afternoon with my stepfather. He is good company and said he really looks forward each week to joining us. We all commented upon how the weeks doing this have turned into months. The Christmas tree on the balcony in December, the lamps and the warmth of heating in frosty February and look now - sunshine, warm behind glass and not far off May. We all agreed we are blessed indeed and we very much appreciate all we have as a family.

Hope the ‘French grandpa’ is having an enjoyable birthday and that we all have a peaceful night ahead. x

Good afternoon dear kitcheners from a beautifully sunny mid-Notts. A very happy birthday to GrandpaFrench - hope the day has been kind to you. Panache can I just say you are both in my thoughts . Soop, sadly relegation was on the cards for my team last night . But onwards and upwards for next season - once a Blade, always a Blade and we take the good with the bad. It has always been more than "just a game" to me but honestly right now, there's more important stuff going on in the world. I hope everyone has an enjoyable evening and sending a virtual hug to all who are in need of a little comfort

Panache ? you are having such a difficult time. My heart goes out to you both.

Just popping in to show you that you remain much in my thoughts,but some days I do not have time to breathe it seems.

The weather on the whole has been such a treat and I am missing out.
However of course, there is no where I would rather be at this moment in time.
Sadly my dear man has had to return to Hospital due to continued bleeding,he was due for a Blood Transfusion on Wednesday, so at this point in time we are not sure what may happen.
It simply is such a rocky road and no two days are the same.
His slightly better days are now few and far between,but what joy when he does manage a little smile.

Trusting you are all enjoying the spring like days.......and hibernating from the frosty nights!

A certain wayward pussy cat has not returned home since she last put in an appearance a couple of days ago. Nevertheless, I've serviced her apartment. Does she care? What do you dear peeps think?

I did say that I would relate a funny at the time episode during the interior "paint-in". I was in the utility room, on my hands and knees glossing the skirting boards. The lid to the paint tin rested on a few sheets of extra strong kitchen towel. Mr Soop was aware that I applying paint. However, he did not notice the lid on the kitchen towel. One step forward...on to the paint pot lid. He hopped across the floor but didn't manage to remove his sticky slipper before placing his foot down. I couldn't stop chortling. Unfair of me, I know. We had to open a fresh bottle of turps to clean up the resulting mess. All part of life's rich tapestry.

BladeAnnie What was the football result? I'm hoping that your team has managed to remain un-relegated.

Grandmafrench Mr Soop and I have shared many of the uncontrollable fits of laughter that you mention. One such was many years ago. We lived in a Cornish village. It was New Year's Eve. We had visited the three village inns and had a few happy new year toasts with pals.
As were were helping each other to walk across the wee bridge on our way home, we met a man that didn't know. He was walking his dog. Mr Soop called out to the dog..."Hello Jyp." The man shook his head and replied..."his name's Caeser". Mr soop then responded with..."Hello, Jeeser". We laughed so much we finished up sitting on the pavement and couldn't get to our feet. The dear man and his dog ignored us and thankfully, we never did meet again.

I also wish him a happy birthday- he must make the most of it, one is not 29 ever again. It is sunny but -1C here but fortunately my heating still appears to be working.

Wakened at 3 am by the AC living next door. What could they find to do in the garden I ask myself?

I must find a hairdresser today- parking is the main problem.
