Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good friends and jolly good company.

Welcome. Take a seat and enjoy our opening day celebration.

kittylester Tue 30-Mar-21 20:02:04

Hello, I have pmed you but I also want to say that I am sorry to hear about Mia. You must be devastated. It does sound as though Mia went peacefully.

Ann, I'm sure your husband approved of you G&Ts. I'm glad your memories were happy ones.

annsixty Tue 30-Mar-21 19:47:13

I have just had , not one but two, G&T’s to celebrate/ mark, my H’s birthday today.
He loved a G&T and we would have been having a steak and a couple or three glasses of red.
Very happy memories, no sadness at all, I thank God on a regular basis that he didn’t have to live through this last year.

Jaxjacky Tue 30-Mar-21 19:25:50

Oh no, there was so much joyous news, then Mia.
How very, very distressing Hellogirl1 I don’t have any words for you, just a huge hug.
I am officially pooped, I’ve had a busy day and I can’t recall the last proper ‘busy’. I dropped off the collected wax melts to DD, she looked ghastly, has a filthy cold (is Covid test twice weekly for school) her rosacea, from me, has flared up too. As she said ‘ I have two children, a job and a house to run and I’m run down’. She text later to apologise for being sharp, I’ve told her to book the most luscious hair cut/colour/treatment she can and we’ll pay. Anyone that thinks teaching staff don’t earn their pay needs to look harder, our children pierce our hearts don’t they. Speaking of which, I’m pleased your son is in contact muse, contact is positive.
Well people, the slackers dinner, quiche, new potatoes and peas is on, second glass of white poured, I’ll love you and leave you.

Grandmabatty Tue 30-Mar-21 19:25:48

Hellogirl that's sad news. ?

Charleygirl5 Tue 30-Mar-21 19:18:27

I think it is lovely she has asked soop to paint a picture of Hattie- she was a beautiful girl and so good, enjoying her retirement with Maw. Hattie was her 4th greyhound I believe.

I also stay in the kitchen having had my head bitten off about something I knew a lot about in a professional capacity yesterday. C'est la vie.

JustMe Tue 30-Mar-21 19:13:33

I so agree on 'Unforgotten' ! Very moving. I love Sunny.

Beautiful weather here and we have a new strimmer and did all our edges. It really works! Now don't have to get backache bending down to do it.

Iam64 Tue 30-Mar-21 19:09:25

Astounding sunshine and warmth in north Manchester. I’ve been digging and splitting perennials, had tea and cake with two close friends in a garden. Blissful day. I’m celebrating by having a glass of cold white wine, even though it’s a school day.

Charleygirl, I miss most of the scandals. I need to spend more time here in the hub and less on politics. I’ve never seen any post from you that had me clutching my pearls. Mind you, I remain bewildered and rather cross that Maw was banished for ever. I enjoyed her posts and her kindness to others was unsurpassed. Odd isn’t it
Anyway, onwards and upwards. I’ve almost recovered from the ending of Unforgotten

Charleygirl5 Tue 30-Mar-21 18:56:16

Jaxjacky I was banned for 2 weeks and I am on my last warning, not being in the spirit of things being so rude and sarcastic. The last warning is for life which is longer than a murderer or whoever in jail. GNHQ know how to look after the punters who live on their own in a pandemic! Do I care? Not a lot! My apologies for ruining the spirit of soop's kitchen!
TOYA

Like the lamps Soop, and the photo of Torben.
Will be back later, just letting you know that my grandson went right down the bank this afternoon, not far from the water`s edge, and found Mia. She didn`t look to be injured, just looked as if she`d curled up and gone to sleep. Can`t stop crying.

muse Tue 30-Mar-21 18:43:56

Good one GrandmaFrench Sciaticked yourself to a standstill. No, I've been a good girl. Just some potting up in a warm polytunnel today. Escaped into it after lunch as it was 13° in Cornwall today. Where did that sun go? Lovely this morning, (Late) breakfast outside then it clouded over. Had to wear my fleece for a walk with Mya. Brrrrrr.

Lots of texts from daughter today. She's on holiday all week. Text from son last night. A long way off feeling his normal self. Continuing to wake up with bad headaches. He's ringing at the weekend.

Sad news from GN soop. Good news about your lamps.

Cheers Urm. I need a hot chocolate blush

Baggs. Another salted caramel and dark chocolate hot x bun addict here. Sainsbury's ones. Have moved onto their cheese scones now. I'll never get into my summer togs.

dustyangel Tue 30-Mar-21 18:19:16

My mystery is solved, it was from my grandson and his partner. They are indeed lovely people. ?

Urmstongran Tue 30-Mar-21 18:03:51

‘Evening All ‘

Well at 6pm it’s a gloriously sunny one here in south Manchester. And the clocks going forward have made such a difference! Himself has gone over to watch our boy wonder at his first football practice - our son in law rang to see if grandad would like to join them? He was out of the apartment like Billy Whizz! ?‍♂️?⚽️

I’ve decided to pour myself a cheeky glass of red to celebrate. ? and hope tonight is peaceful for us all. x

kittylester Tue 30-Mar-21 17:34:39

soop, I have light envy. They are right up my street.

Lots of lovely new babies on the way. I shouldn't complain either brook but would never say no to more little ones.

Sar, please come back and let us know how your husband is.

Anyway, can't stop as we are having gourmet burgers from the travelling burgerologist later so need to get organised.

TOYA

soop Tue 30-Mar-21 17:27:39

Sar53 I'm hoping that your husband's appointment went well. Mr Soop has a regular visits to the consultant in Campbeltown. He has extensive sun damage and the lesions have to be "zapped".
It is uplifting to have long chats with family. Especially the younger generation.

dustyangel
You are well deserving of The Happy News. Lovely people, attract lovely people. smile
I am still recovering from the fact that I have two beautiful lamps, both ideal for our home and free.

Time to log off. I've done next to nowt today. On a happy note, I wish you all a peaceful evening. TOYA smile moon

Grandmabatty Tue 30-Mar-21 17:27:32

Sar I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your dh has good news from the doctor. Soop thank you for your concern. He's had lots of tests already and more to come. Those are lovely lamps! I have lamp envy. BladeAnnie that is lovely news indeed. Brooke lovely photos and such a nice place to walk. Baggs I'm happy to accept any leftover hot cross buns.
Today has been such a lovely one. 17° at one point. Grandson and I went to the park and he had a wonderful time. I managed to get him down for a nap and then after lunch we played in the garden with bubbles and his water toys. And that's me done babysitting til next Tuesday. I'm making chicken curry for dinner and I might have a gin and tonic. Til tomorrow kitcheners.

Yiayia4 Tue 30-Mar-21 17:21:22

Nice lamps Soop what a find.
Love to hear about the flamingos Grandmafrench. We went to the Camargue s few years ago what a treat it was to see the flamingos prance and the white horses gallop.
It’s been hectic here all day,tea and coffee on tap for the workman putting up the new fence, it’s looking good and should be finished tomorrow.
Have a good evening everyone.

dustyangel Tue 30-Mar-21 16:55:28

I love the lamps soop, we have similar tastes as our tables are almost identical. I do like light coloured woods.
I lad a lovely surprise this afternoon. DH came back from the post box with a copy of The Happy News, a quarterly news that some lovely person had given to us. As I only know lovely people I shall have to do some detective work.

Sar53 Tue 30-Mar-21 16:37:03

Good afternoon everyone, I do hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine, if you have any. I'm not sure if the north is as warm as the South.
I'm sitting here waiting for DH to return from his appointment with the Dermatologist. A little anxious after what has happened to DD2. I had a very long facetime with said daughter and my youngest granddaughter, 3 year old Charlotte, this morning. We talked for well over an hour and it was lovely. I haven't seen them since August last year and I'm counting down the days til we can see each other again.
Love the lamps Soop, I can tell how pleased you are with them.
Best wishes and TOYA to one and all xx

soop Tue 30-Mar-21 16:24:33

brook The beautiful banks of Loch Ness. We cannot wait to return when it's okay to do so.

soop Tue 30-Mar-21 16:22:53

Nannytopsy I recall Torben having great fun gathering litter and rushing way with it to the bin. Never too young to learn a valuable lesson. hmm

Hello again, Daisyboots.

I apologise if I've omitted to respond to any posts. It's been a hectic day thus far.

Baggs We've ordered hot cross buns from the local bakery. After Easter, I shall be cutting out some of the carbs. Not yet though. grin

brook2704 Tue 30-Mar-21 16:18:47

Beautiful lights soop and how kind of the lady
What lovely news BA a new baby boy to look forward to later in the year, so exciting you lucky lady! I’m lucky too with four beautiful DGC so I’m definitely not complaining ...
About hot cross buns, well I’ve been eating a few too many of them recently .. I think I’m getting a bit addicted to the salted caramel chocolate chip ones from Tesco. I wish I didn’t like them so much ?
Today we’ve been walking in Abriachan, just up on the banks of Loch Ness. It was a bit blustery but stayed dry and we got some lovely views. Lunch with a view at a bothy overlooking the loch - I was happy!
I’ll have some of your heat please nannytopsy send it up here if you can!

soop Tue 30-Mar-21 16:17:03

Grandmabatty I am sorry to hear that your son-in-law is unwell. You must be very concerned for him. Thankfully he's now on the list for further investigations. Please keep us updated.

Thank you, Grandmafrench for your fulsome and amusing post. You should be a writer.

BladeAnnie A wee boy is preparing to join your clan. How lovely. Our next great grandchild id due in July. The sex is not known. Or, if it is, there's no telling.

I am chuffed for all those of you who have both sunshine and the means of venturing further afield. It is warm here. The sun is shining. The sea is calm. AND did I tell you that I have two super lamps? wink

Feelingmyage I am chuckling at the notion of there being a Six Dinner Sid. Did you save me a plateful of shortbread? So kind. smile

Grannygravy Thank goodness for blankies. Zzzzz on.

soop Tue 30-Mar-21 16:00:38

Bellasnonna Thank you for reassuring me. I also go through the alphabet. Usually works when I have forgotten someone's name. I don't like forgetting that which I should be very familiar with.

Jax I am happy for your good fortune. Wondering how to spend the money will be a huge part of the fun you will have. Good for you.

soop Tue 30-Mar-21 15:55:11

Right! Down to business. The day has flown by and I am just about ready to read the countless messages from you lovely lot.

soop Tue 30-Mar-21 15:53:04

Ta dah! I be back with a spring in my step. Maw has asked me to paint a portrait of Hattie. I shall do so with love.

Now, before I play catch-up yet again, please may I share a "super surprise find " with you all.

I was browsing through the local FB sales and saw a pair of perfect new lamps for our home...for FREE. We motored into our nearest village, picked them up and they are now in our home. I am thrilled almost, but not quite, skinny.
The dear lady would not accept any payment. Not even enough to buy herself a ginormous Easter egg. I shall post not too good photos for you to see. Woweeee!
