I was so saddened by the interview with harry and megan , why would two people who have got exactly what they wanted are happy to create such pain for others

Madgran77 Tue 18-May-21 18:11:36

And this is still considered a fine comment,? in the last couple of hours not one person has admitted that it is out of order.

I have just seen the comment and agree it is unnecessary and inappropriate!

The RF and Princess Diana are Harry's only way to earn money. He will flog every memory until people stop paying for it.

Apparently he agreed with William a few years ago that they wouldn't discuss their mother in public again and that it had all been said, but Harry has clearly reneged on this. It's disgraceful.

Jabberwok Tue 18-May-21 18:25:25

Well, I suppose if you have to earn megga bucks to live your private life, and you've no skills and a famous family the only alternative is to trash that family and milk it for all you can while the going is good, as it won't last for ever and then what?!! You're right it is beyond disgraceful.

SueDonim Tue 18-May-21 18:55:11

I admit, I’m finding Harry’s claim of the ‘feeding frenzy’ by the US paparazzi in LA and that the First Amendment is bonkers rather at odds with his claims that he can do more in their new home, such as take the baby out on the back of his bike and his ‘shoulders dropping’ and feeling a little more free.

It can’t be both, surely?

Galaxy Tue 18-May-21 19:10:50

But it's not something secret is it everyone has seen that clip. It's a bit like saying I shouldn't show a clip of Thatcher leaving downing street.

Anniebach Tue 18-May-21 19:31:33

Were you Thatchers daughter / son ?

Jabberwok Tue 18-May-21 19:33:54

Don't think Mrs T would have endorsed footage of herself for financial gain.

Anniebach Tue 18-May-21 19:42:39

Harry has chosen the clip for a tv series,

Galaxy Tue 18-May-21 19:47:51

But it's not intrusive. I could act out that clip. The world has seen it and re seen it. Sorry but the royal family have become a soap opera and this is just the next part of the soap opera playing itself out. I am sorry for the people involved but then I dont support people being put in that position anyway. I dont support the idea of royal family for many reasons but I am beginning to think that the wellbeing of the people within this soap opera is one of those reasons.

Anniebach Tue 18-May-21 19:51:30

It isn’t intrusive, Harry chose it

Jabberwok Tue 18-May-21 20:07:23

Of course he did Annie, it should sell well on the sympathy front, nice to see his mother had her financial uses after all these years.

Anniebach Tue 18-May-21 20:15:19

Thinking of how many were mentally damaged / affected by
military conflict in recent years why not show a clip of himself
in Afghanistan, he did say the fear he suffered by cameras as a child was the same as he endured in Afghanistan.

I tend to agree with you

I agree too. The comments that have been made above about enjoying the funny and sarcastic posts, I do believe the members of the RF are viewed by some as symbols for what they believe an RF should be, not real people at all. Its like the Truman Show, right enough.

Anniebach Tue 18-May-21 20:33:07

Republicans would agree

Thank you. Most others think it’s ok apparently to imply Diana brought about her own demise/deserved it.

Lucca Tue 18-May-21 22:58:49

I agree with Boz Diana used the media for her own ends, but
some will not accept the truth about this.

Quite possibly ...you clearly know all about it, I don’t. But does that justify the “that ended well for her “ comment?

Jabberwok Wed 19-May-21 10:36:45

No one has implied that Diana deserved to die, she obviously didn't, but she was at times her own worst enemy and on that occasion her actions, along with her boyfriends, unfortunately certainly courted disaster.

Like a cross between a Greek tragedy and a dark fairytale...

Let that be a lesson to you, girls!

GMB had a war veteran on today. 101 years old, Len Gibson. Survivor of a Japanese POW camp for 3.5 years, had malaria multiple times and surgery without anaesthetic. Has spent the years since the war teaching and doing fund raising. He seemed a wonderful man. His grandson said he always remembers his grandfather telling him that two prisoners can look out of a window through the metal bars and one sees mud and the other sees the stars.

Poor Harry sees the mud. Can he be helped to look up and see the stars? I hope so but the trouble is he seems to be making a living in the mud.

Anniebach Wed 19-May-21 11:16:10

Facts.
Diana gave the Panorama interview

Diana wrote a book

Diana notified the press when she wanted to for private occasions such as taking her sons to the theme park.

Being photographed in a hospital op theatre dressed in full garb plus earrings!

When on holiday with Dodi let the press know she was going to
visit the old home of the Windsors in France

Sat at end of a diving board whilst being photographed

Left the luxury apartment in the Ritz that night to go to Dodi’s
apartment, against the advice of the security and in full knowledge the papps were waiting outside the Ritz.

She did not deserve to die, but she chose to ‘dance with the devil’ and tragically it led to her death.

I fear Harry is playing the same game

I hope this isn’t going to become another thread where a poster is hounded because of an ill judged comment.

Let it go

Your mud / stars analogy is reminded of the Wilde quote; something like

"We are all of us born in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars"

Only it's the exact opposite for poor old Harry.

FannyCornforth Wed 19-May-21 11:24:44

Is reminiscent of, rather confused

theworriedwell Wed 19-May-21 11:26:46

I see what you mean Fanny. When he said it I just thought of Harry and how sad it is in his position to always see the worst in things. The veteran, Len, said he has lived in hell and this is heaven. On a bad day I intend to remind myself of that.
