Oh my goodness, I knew I shouldn't have rejoined this thread with my pearls of wisdom. Trouble is the other one on Prince Harry many of us were enjoying has taken the same turn.

I may have misunderstood but my reading of the reason to leave the RF was to get away from the kind of public appearances and behaviour expected of members of the RF.
To find their own kind of freedom, to get involved in projects of their choice, to talk freely about their lives.

I'm not sure about Meghan, but Harry did say he couldn't bear hearing any more camera clicks because it upset him. That is why he wanted to leave. Now he craves being in front of the camera.
As someone said on here, he changes his tune in what he says and does every week. There is no consistency.

I think that's the problem either do exactly as you are told and behave in a particular way ( the rules of which seem to alter on a whim) and some of the rules of behaviour are deeply unhealthy.

At the risk of further annoying the majority of posters ! I’d like to say for the record, I have never said I want to abolish the monarchy, I have never said I approve wholeheartedly of Meghan and/or harry. As it goes I think harry may well be making mistakes but what I object to are the ones which imply posters know exactly what the couple are thinking, planning and their motivation while all the while praising the rest of the windsors without reservation. Not to mention nasty remarks along the lines of Harrys mother bringing about her own demise,

Compare Anne's commitment to her role (even if you disapprove of the role and want to abolish the monarchy), her get on with it attitude, to Harry's saying he wants to opt out and then still expecting his father to bank roll him and obliquely criticising his grandparents. Anne does the job assigned to her. Harry moans.

What I meant was she’s 70 he’s in his 30’s for example. She lives a countryside life he doesn’t.

Perhaps not, but that doesn't justify what H & M are doing to their extended families. I think most people would be quite happy and not critical of them if they pursued the privacy they said they craved.

What is the fascination? Why do we have so many threads about this? And all so similar with sometimes identical posts?

Perhaps because so many other threads consist of games, games and games.
