I read the Diana book when it was published, one thing I cannot forget is her claim of the first time Charles saw Harry,
‘Oh another boy and he has red hair’ Harry was 8 years old !

I dont understand what is wrong with this comment - it just seems a statement of fact - it was another boy and he did have red hair.

Why is that a negative or hurtful comment??

I wonder if any of you have actually listened to the podcast. I tried. It is very long and mostly boring and the family criticism lasts an incredibly short time.There are some interesting bits, like how the army offered him space to be ordinary, to have decisions made for him and how it offers these things to young men who sometimes can't really cope. How drink and drugs can seem to make you happy but don't longterm.
It's a pity some people have always to make the RF the centre of things even when they really aren't.

I may be wrong, in which case someone will soon correct me, but has the reason for Meghan's estrangement from her father and all her family bar her mother ever been disclosed?She seems able to keep her personal concerns very private, witness all the lawsuits.
Their wedding was mentioned recently, and I thought how cruel it was of her to exclude all her relations and isolate her mother.
Someone is encouraging Harry to parade all his grievances on a world-wide stage. Once released he can never recall them, making the possibility of a reconciliation increasingly difficult.

No, I am sorry, but criticism is not bullying, foul mouthed ranting abuse is bullying, but to say that you do not approve of someone's actions and why, in reasonable and dispassionate terms is not.

On the contrary, limiting somebody's freedom to make quiet and reasonable criticism in the way you suggest Anniebach is bullying, it is emotional abuse. 'Do not disagree with me, it will make me unhappy' (sob, sob,) There is a MiL on another thread doing just that and being criticised for it. (Oh horror)

Iam64 yes , criticism causes some not to post on a thread so it is bullying . Why post on this thread to criticise the choice of
topic , why not ignore ?

This is very true and it is why I tend to avoid certain topics these days. If somebody has strong opinion on something why shouldn’t they start a discussion even if it has been discussed before? There does seem to be a party line on certain subjects which is why I don’t post as often as I used to.

I don't usually add to these H and M threads, but I am so angry with H that I feel I might explode. Is he going to spend his entire life whinging about his childhood and putting the boot into his family? I'm disgusted with H and M.

Another boy? So what. My MIL said another girl, but she meant nothing unkind by it. It’s just like people saying, “You’ve got one of each!”
Now if she’d already had 2 boys and the third was a boy, it might be deemed critical.

Maybe he was thrilled, it was another boy and he did have red hair I can't see what's wrong with saying that. When my 2nd son was born my husband said, "another boy" and he was thrilled to bits.

The entire saga is sadly rather close to home for us. Now more than 8 years estranged from our youngest son, he hadn't realised he had 'issues' until he met his wife; we never did find out what they are though.

It doesn't take a much imagination for us to understand what his family are going through. Thank God our family upset wasn't played out on the world stage and we'll never know the extent to which our ES has trashed us.

Apparently Harry has called USA's First Amendment, bonkers. I can't find anything bonkers about it at all. Maybe I've missed something.

I am getting weary. Not of multiple posts on GN but of H&M themselves. We were assured they were leaving for a private life away from the cameras that always made Harry flinch.

Their idea of a quiet life is somewhat different to mine.

There’s an old saying “be careful what you wish for”. Harry says he wanted out which is perhaps why he took up with Meghan. Unfortunately she is not after the privacy he claims to crave but after the fame and fortune she craves. He got out but his resentment is still there. I don’t think his mother helped. There is the story of William handing tissues to his mother through the bathroom door where she was in floods of tears -what mother does that to her sons? Harry has deified Diana and demonised Charles when the truth is they both had feet of clay, like us all.

Didn't Diana say just before she died, she was going to make some huge revelation to the press? Maybe Harry wants to put the boot in on the RF on her behalf?

(I shouldn't be pondering all this. I'm off to check the guide book for today's outing on my holiday.) The thread has brought some interesting posts on the issues raised.

Yes it seems impossible for people to understand that people have different family lives.

You can’t change the past, you can only learn from it. I’m sure the monarchy are changing and learning all the time, and Harry’s sad experience is part of that. But his constantly going on about it won’t make it go away.

Your last paragraph is so true Calendargirl. Life is too short to bear grudges forever. I have sympathy with Harry for wanting a happy uncomplicated life for his own family, but to hurt his father, grandmother, brother in the process is unforgivable and shows a real lack of respect.
I saw my father for perhaps 10 days in my whole life. I made up stories to friends that he was working abroad (which he did) and couldn't get leave. At home my mum left his slippers out when visitors came round to pretend. She wanted him to give me away at my wedding which was surreal. I bit my tongue and for her sake endured it. I turned out very normal and regret nothing. I would never have thought to make a song and dance in public about my lot or be ashamed of my parents. So why does Harry want centre stage instead of discreet closure?
