I thought it may be interesting and informative if members told us about hotels or B&B’s in the UK that they have stayed at, or want to stay ( maybe a friend has recommended).Either good for a week or a short break.Such a big membership on GN must give us a lot of ideas.Maybe mention a few nearby things to do/visit as well.smile

I agree Nannytops The White Horse at Brancaster one on its own.
We always loved the Miller Howe on Ullswater but unfortunately, it has changed hands and part of a chain now. Not been for a while but the Blue Lion at East Witton North Yorks was always so relaxing good food and well looked after.

We loved The Old Town Hall Bed and Breakfast at Redmire Yorkshire. It is 5 star with lovely hosts that welcome you with home made cake and tea . A fridge in your room with fresh milk and juice. And lots of little extras . We ate in the local pub in the evening.

Hope that you have a lovely stay there, and I forgot to say (!)
It’s at Ambleside, Lake Windermere, but you found it anyway.

The White Horse at Brancaster Norfolk.
Pub with very comfortable rooms, wonderful food and views over salt marsh. Good for birding at Cley and Titchwell plus Sandringham.

After your recommendation, I looked at Riverside and booked a 3 night break in September. I told Richard you had recommended it on Gransnet, he was intrigued who you were. I told him we all have pseudonyms/nicknames so difficult to say. If you want me let him know who you are please tell me.smile

The Old Manse B & B in Chatton, Northumberland. We picked it because it was in the area we wanted, without knowing anything about it. Despite arriving early we were warmly welcomed by the owner who was in the middle of making the sausages for breakfast. The bedroom and the views from it were lovely. At breakfast, everything was either home made or locally produced. We didn't know before we went that it won Northumberland B&B old award of the year but could definitely see why.

We stayed at a B&B called 21 in Hereford 2019. The breakfast was wonderful. In the hall there was a fridge and microwave available for the use of the guests. The beds were comfy, loads of space for car parking and it was a 10 minute walk to the city

I’m always happy at a Premier Inn! Reasonable and good breakfasts. I know what to expect.

I agree, can't go wrong with Premier Inn. Guaranteed good nights sleep or your money back..........and it's true. Staff exceptionally good at Premier Inn Kings Langley.......useful for Warner Bros studio and Albert Dock Liverpool.......converted bonded warehouse with many retained features.

Paperbackwriter I know what you mean about Tim but we were thinking of ourselves! We wanted cheap and cheerful and never gave him a thought.

Frogwell B&B in Strete in South Devon. Without question the best B&B I’ve ever had the pleasure of frequenting. Everything is perfect. ❤️

Glen Garry Castle Hotel, Invergarry. I have stayed in it lots of times and it is such a beautiful setting on the banks of Loch Oich. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, the food is fantastic. There is no bar but you can order any drink and it is brought to you in one of the sitting rooms. Inverness is a short journey or there is Fort Augustus and the Caledonian canal lock system. Loads to do and see. The hotel can organise fishing and shooting and your catch or birds are put on the menu.

We stayed at No. 11 Sea View Terrace, St. Ives last year just before lockdown. It was really lovely and I see that it advertises as a luxury b&b. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food is superb. They also have self catering flats as well. This was only booked on the off chance so didn't know what to expect but we were delighted with our stay.

My husband watches four in a bed! We often stay in an hotel which was slated on this programme. It’s Brockley Hall Hotel at Saltburn -by-the-Sea. We stay there whilst visiting relatives, it’s a good place to stay.

Puzzler61 Sat 22-May-21 13:00:44

Forgot to say there are just 6 bedrooms for guests and averages £110 per night Bed with breakfast.

Treveighan Farmhouse B&B , St Teath nr. Bodmin, Cornwall for quiet nights, countryside and garden views and set in a marvellous position to visit places like Port Isaac - 7 miles (where TV’s Doc Martin series is filmed), Padstow harbour - 16 miles and the Eden Project - 19 miles.
Donna & Will are thoughtful resident Hosts, the rooms are very comfortable and it’s a friendly place to stay with great tasty breakfasts.

I agree with Premier Inn, especially the one at Slough. So near to Legoland at Windsor and also handy for visiting London

Drakes in Brighton. Right in the seafront. Great little bar, lovely staff and roll top baths and separate shower room. Big windows in the first floor overlooking the sea. Restaurant in the basement now independently owned but trying it out in July.

We were sceptical when someone told us that Wetherspoons hotels were great. We've stayed in a few now. The one in Chesterfield in particular is lovely. We stayed on a Sunday night £39 for the room. King sized bed, very large bathroom. You can pop downstairs to the pub for your Wetherspoons breakfast. There was a park opposite and just happened to be a food and music festival going on. We had a great time.

Nice to hear that Wetherspoons get something right, though hell will have to be feeling very chilly before I put any cash into that awful Tim Martin's tills..

The Wetherspoons Portland Hotel Chesterfield has another vote from me. Lovely room and really friendly pub.

Also another Wetherspoons hotel - The Shrewsbury. Right next to the river Severn. Lovely area with a nice little town.

Llandudno Lynton House B&B. Been here few times. Everything you could want and nice friendly owners.
Big 6ft bed. Great breakfast.

Meudon Court in Devon, magnificent gardens and direct access to beach.

I would recommend the Hydro Hotel in Eastbourne. It’s in a good situation for walking and near some lovely English Heritage and National Trust sites such as Battle Abbey. It’s a comfortable traditional hotel with excellent food and reasonable rates.
I’ve also been to the Castle Hotel in Dartmouth which is near the harbour which offers many boat trips. There are 2 excellent NT properties nearby.

We enjoy visiting Bodelwyddan Castle in North Wales. It's part of the Warner Leisure group, and we always enjoy visiting.

Food is fantastic, rooms excellent, lots of daytime and evening activities, and staff are friendly and helpful.
