I am still using my Charles and Diana Royal Wedding tea towels. Still going strong after 40 years.

my potato peeler pinched from Mum's kitchen when I married over 50 years ago. Don't know how old it is but I always remember using it as a child. Still use it several times a week.

Tupperware rolling pin, butter dish, salt and pepper shaker etc from early 1970's

I have an electric whisk which was a freebie with my microwave in early 1980's in frequent use.

My parents married in 1940 and I still have some hand towels which are still in use in eg the kitchen and loo because a couple are fraying around the edges.

My mother bought two expensive duvets when they came into vogue and I still have them, one is in use in a spare bedroom.

My grandmother's hair brush, I suspect a 21st birthday present in 1917 .

Old things still in regular use ? Me

Every time I read the thread title I think the same!

A portable pale blue Singer sewing machine, from 1968. Simple but works perfectly. Was told by a technician that these older machines are Rolls Royces of the category as they contain no plastic bits and pieces. All solid steel!

A Pyrex roasting dish given as a wedding present in 1972

Corningware from 1974. I used a crockpot from 1974, but got rid of it four years ago when I downsized to a condo.

Tupperware flour storage canisters, bought at the first Tupperware party I went to as a newly wed 50+ years ago.

A stainless steel carving dish which was a wedding present 50+ years ago.

A Coronation spoon used for sugar, given to all children at my primary school (DH says he cannot give up sugar in tea and coffee).

Another Kenwood here - an electric hand mixer used every day and still going strong. Received as a present in 1971.

I too have a Kenwood electric hand mixer still going strong.
I think I bought it around 1967.

Set of Salter weighing scales with weights. Still love using it. My mother in law’s Mason cash mixing bowl, and an old food processor from 1987 given to me new from my sister in law..

I still have two Oldstrom saucepans which I treated myself to in the late ninety sixties. One cost £6 and the other £8. You can still buy them but soo expensive. They still look really good.

1957 car still going strong and a carving set (wedding gift ) 53 years ago. There’s more I’m sure, we don’t throw much away.

I have loads of things from my grandmother and beyond, including a cast-iron soup pot, various kitchen utensils, embroidered table cloths, gardening tools, dressmaking artefacts, singer sewing machine 1902, jewellery, cutlery, crockery, glassware, vases, oak home-made tray with handles, jugs, books, lace pillowcases and many more bits and pieces.

HettyBetty I'd forgotten about the Tupperware items! I still have a few, including a jug for the fridge door & a couple of tools for using with eggs. (One to remove boiled eggs from the saucepan & the other to separate a white from a yolk. They were both prizes at a Tupperware party!)

My beautiful dessert spoons which an aunt bought me on my first marriage. Very old. I envy the pastry maker and cream mason bowl though.

A Prestige hand held rotary whisk with a teak handle and a melamine tray, both wedding presents in the late 70’s and both still used regularly.
I also have a lovely knitted tea cosy that my Grandma knitted for me over 40 years ago! I’d hate to part with any of them.

My ironing board belonged to my grandmother who died before I was born. It was made by my grandfather and is solid oak. Weighs a ton but far better than a flimsy aluminium one. The padded top has been replaced several times.

My favourite trowel dates from the late 1950s.

I water my houseplants with a Tupperware jug from the early 1960s.

Actually most things in our house are quite old smile

Myself & him indoors - 60s kids - still chugging along, and our children all born in the 90s are working just fine, no maintenance needed! ??

Davida1968 Sat 23-Jul-22 09:24:26

I too have a bread-board. It's older than I am, so it's well over 70. Likewise the bread bin; the old-fashioned white & blue enameled type. Both used by my parents before I was born, and used by me all my life.

A bookcase made around the 1840s that came from mum’s maternal line plus a chiffonier now owned by DD2. 5 G plan chairs from the 1950s. I’m not sure what happened to the sixth one but I’ve recovered them 3 times and they’re still going strong. They belonged to mum and dad, with sideboard and table but those went a long time ago. DD1 in NZ has two balloon back chairs and my father’s favourite parker knoll armchair, also reupholstered.
