Good Morning Friday
(68 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
I am up early , but its dry and bright outside here in Brackley .
My reason for being early , i need to catch a bus at 0645 in order to connect with another at Bicester to make an appointment at the JR in Oxford outpatients , its link with cardiac so expecting the treadmill .
As to returning after appointment will again depend on bus timings as I want to watch the Giro cycle race drama unfold in its last 3 days .
Take Care,
Mick
Any groups in St Albans Hertfordshire meet up for chat coffee have found men’s shed bit there in Hatfield and only open tue Thursday and have to try and get there, as have mobility issues
Hi Marydoll sorry to hear you’ve had a rough week. All that gallivanting last week no doubt! Take it easy ! Yes we are all interested. Hope you are putting your feet up! X
Nannagarra I was indeed assessing candidates for a depute head position. Although I don't make it easy for them, I feel very sorry for them! I was the teacher from hell this time. ?
Good afternoon from cloudy and a tad cool Sefton. I have been waiting to receive an arranged phone call from the bank. Still waiting...and planning some very stern words. Expect to see the headline ‘ Woman in Sefton slays several XXXX employees ’. They don’t cover themselves with glory, do they?
In the meantime I plan to repot and plant out.
Are you assessing more candidates, Grandmabatty, ‘working as a drama queen’ today’?
My thoughts are with Mick, Marydoll, Cherry, Susan56 for her SiL and, of course, grandmajet.
Have the best day you can everyone. x
Good Morning All x.
What happened to the sun ? Yesterday was perfect and I got all the washing dry. However, towards teatime a brisk wind whipped up and clouds came from nowhere so I though that's that, the end of summer for us
. Maybe tomorrow ?
A long phone-call from D yesterday---over 3 hours ! Which meant that I didn't get my afternoon chat outside in the sun, but never mind there'll be other times.
Then early evening another long phone-call this time from my stepD, over 3 hours again
By the time I went to bed I was drained and hoarse ! Still, it was all good. Plenty of plans in the making.
I hope the day goes well for you Mick, it can be worrying but I'm sure you'll get sorted.
Good to hear from you Marydoll albeit short and sweet but at least it shows you're still in the land of the living.
I think that tree could be a beech Ashcombe, it's beautiful. I so love trees, the more the merrier.
Hope your SiL gets to resolve the mystery of his collapse Susan, sometimes low blood sugar can do this so let's hope it's nothing more serious.
Thoughts to Grandmajet, Cherry Auntieflo* and anyone low in spirits at the moment in the hope that things pick up.
Usual fish chips and peas today. My word I enjoyed my prawn salad yesterday, the prawns were large and juicy, delicious. I could have polished off the whole packet, but saved a handful to have on a sandwich later. I'll be getting them again----Asda's king prawns. ( frozen )
It's just gone coffee time so I'll get cracking and wish you all a pleasant day with thoughts to our " other grans ".xx
Take care and keep safe.
GrannySomerset I have the same dilemma as you,We are having the family over on Monday and I have no idea how much food and drink to buy.I have made a list as a guide.I have already over bought birthday cake as bought a vegan one suitable for Henry and DGD chose another one. With hindsight I should have just made one or bought a vegan cupcake for H instead of a whole cake?
Thank you grandmafrench yes there are some strange place names around here ... as I’m not from Scotland originally but moved here about 18years ago, I sometimes raise a laugh with my poor pronunciation! I’d love to visit France sometime in the future- wouldn’t it be lovely if we all could pick someone and swap over locations!
Pleased your DH found your crystal Gingster what a relief!
Grey skies today after yesterday’s glorious sunshine but the forecast is hopeful. Gardener’s grandson came and cut the grass yesterday, a very welcome visit, and I did some weeding and digging out a thug grass which has taken a liking to our garden and entwines itself round the roots of various precious perennials.
Psyching myself up for a big shop since we have visitors (!) who will all need feeding. Since I have only fed the two of us for the past six months I am in a panic at the prospect of how much of what I need. A list will help though not sure I am capable of the require decision making. Oh dear!
So glad your DH found your crystal gingster?
Good morning everyone, bit late as I have been beavering away on my thread about the sharing of your personal GP records, which will take place on 1st July, and you only have until 23rd June to opt out. Probably shouldn't have mentioned another thread, (smacked wrist) but it is important people know!
DGD is feeling a bit better today and has sniffled her way into school. I'm going to meet a couple of ex work colleagues for lunch, a wonderfully normal thing to do, but won't help the weight after the break in Gloucester!
Glad to see DH found your crystal Gingster they have their uses don't they
Lovely views Ash and so glad you had a great trip.
Caring thoughts to all those with a bit of a mountain to face today.
Good morning everyone. I’ve had a difficult week with my eye watering a lot and consequently the skin round it has become very sensitive and sore. I’ve tried to find something that I could put on to soothe the skin but not damage my eye should I accidentally rub it, a very frustrating process, I’ve ended up putting a temporary cover over one eye just to rest it.
Despite that it’s lovely to be able to see everyone’s outside photographs. I think there’s nothing better than an English summer day. (Alright, I might be slightly prejudiced here! I’m willing to include Scotland and Wales too
) Have a good weekend everyone. ?
A late good morning from Northampton where it feels warm already and the sun is trying. I slept till 8.30 this morning, but just lay in bed listening to the Radio till gone nine. Just put a load of washing in, and have another load ready to go.
As the weather is now set dry for a few days, I sprayed the weeds on the driveway and patio yesterday. Must get out and trim the shared hedge sometime soon. Will put my old holey gardening jeans on and rid the back garden of the host of weeds I noticed yesterday.
I had a good health walk again yesterday evening, and then we repaired to the pub where I had wine and fish and chips. It was the first time in a pub for me since February last year! The wine was like nectar, and the food ambrosia; it was so good to be back!
Hoping today is kind to all.
And Grandmafrench. ?. Thankyou! Xx
Thanks Urms and Stillearning xx
Good Morning everyone. I knew you wouldn’t have lost it, gingster. I have a bag like that, it tests us by swallowing items, sending us me into a frenzy and then regurgitating said item later when all hope is lost! I’m so pleased your planned fun day today hasn’t been spoilt and how lovely was your day yesterday -complete with perfect weather.
Such worries for you, susan. How can someone collapse, be taken to A&E, be discharged still in pain and without an explanation……and that be ok? Hope your DD won’t allow her DH to be fobbed off by their surgery. Someone needs to offer a diagnosis, reassurance/a plan and some pain relief, surely. Fingers all crossed that all those worries disappear pdq. x
Don’t you go to some really lovely places, brook and they often have such amusing names. (To me !) I often think you have a spare set of legs - powered by the same batteries that are advertised by a ? bunny. I have serious distance walking envy!
Hope the ankle and the knee improve very soon, dwmx and hollysteers. Enjoy your Highland trip, Grammaretto - I bet your MiL will savour every single moment after the ill health she suffered.
Everyone ‘up to no good and planning some fun’ over the holiday weekend, have yourselves a wonderful time. Just think - after so very long - how much you all need and deserve it! I’ll keep fingers crossed that the supplies of sunshine I sent do hold out. If not, just say and I can send more.
I’m pot watering with a super new hose attachment today - one that can drench everything in mist without risk of flattening the newer plants. Potting on some very strong seedlings and keeping fingers crossed that some gorgeous Clematis I ordered 3 weeks ago will arrive soon. Why is there such a shortage of everything? Silly question, when I read that 3 million people took up gardening for the first time in the UK. During Lockdown. I can’t order from the UK (sadly) but I’m still having to wait - as are local nurseries! I shall get on with painting a lovely wrought iron screen which we are re-purposing and DH will fasten to the house wall for Clematis scrambling. Love finding a use for old things - that’s the screen, of course, not my lovely man ……..?
Hope poorly pals feel better soon. Thinking of too many to recall accurately, but hope your recovery is progressing, grandmajet, and you feel more positive today, auntieflo. Definitely wishing you some undisturbed rest and the ability to really enjoy your fab new kitchen (and wet room?) Cherry.
Wishing you sunshine enough to enjoy feet up in your garden Mary - maybe a weekend glimpse of Dollie will bring some smiles. Good day wished for all, plenty of laughs, plenty of sleep at the end of it, hope for tomorrow and happiness in bucketfuls!
From a hot and blue ??, lots of hugs. Stay Safe!
?♀️????
Is there still a mouse plague over there Nanna8? I saw videos of the critters in Melbourne which gave me goosebumps.
Good Morning everyone, grey cool and damp here in Co Armagh
I have joined the ranks of recipients of strange PM s !
I hope Marydoll is feeling a bit more like herself soon xxx
Good morning from the Scottish Borders. Grey here but hints of blue sky. Nothing planned bar small amounts of decluttering and a purge of my wardrobe. Wearing one of my Seasalt purchases which gives me a lift. Will try to finish Claire Fuller's Unsettled Ground. It is beautifully written. Off to do my exercises. Hoping the best of days possible to all.
Childcare day today 4yr old has only been here an hour room floor is covered with cars ,will fetch his sister from school at one they have been finishing at lunchtime since they went back, hard for some parents who work .Take care everyone ?
Great*Gingstet*, I can relate to your joyous relief! Happy for you?
It has been sunny and cold here in locked down Melbourne. Went for a walk in the local wildflower reserve and not a soul in sight. We are limited to 5 km ,just over 3 miles, outside our houses, masks on at all times. Hugging the fire drinking some merlot.
Good morning all from cloudy but dry Harrogate
Had a Lousy night last night, usually is when I’m prescribed prednisilone ?The price I pay for breathing!!
Looks like, at last I shall have to get my summer clothes down. There’s a rumour they might be needed!!!
What a shock Susan I hope your SIL recovers quickly.
Your pics are lovely Ashcombe could the tree be a sycamore? Just looking at the shape.
Thank you for popping in Marydoll hope you will feel better soon
I have my dgs tonight so posting could be impossible tomorrow. Decided I will take him on the bus tomorrow (a novelty) for him
Hope Oxford is good news Mick
Look after yourselves ?
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning, Mick and All from a damp grey Carlisle. Fortunately I managed to mow the back lawn yesterday. The grass was ankle deep in places.
Another one with a poorish nights sleep, vivid dreams, a headache and cricks in my neck as well as the usual need to put eye drops in at regular intervals! Therefore I was up a tad earlier than usual, just as well because my Tesco delivery is due shortly. It will be followed at some point by the BHF coming to collect some of my surplus stuff so there should be a bit more space in my over full garage. Sadly, they didn't want my rugs as they sell new ones. I've been in their furniture store and I think my secondhand ones are nicer! I shall have to do some freegling/freecycling.
Apart from that, no plans for the weekend except for some shrubs I need to get planted.
You do live in a lovely part of the world, Ashcombe, it's uplifting to be able to look at beautiful trees like that.
Good wishes for better days to all in poor health/spirits. It's concerning when people stop posting..we can't know how you are.
Happy bank holiday to all...
