Congratulations to Boris and Carrie who got married today in Westminster Catholic Cathedral. Just that really. I love weddings, doesn't matter who the couple are, I always hope it works out happily.

What a fiasco.

Now there is an empty space for the next mistress.

Carrie is a Catholic and Wilfred was christened there.

Boris was raised a Catholic but he married his previous 2 wives in non Catholic ceremonies and therefore, in Catholic eyes, he hasn’t been married before so this is his first wedding.

33 year old woman marries serial adulterer more than 20 years older than her. What could possibly go wrong? I wonder how he will finance this divorce -he'll have the child to support as well.

Whole thing sounds very fishy. Westminster cathedral seems way over the top. I would have thought a quiet civil wedding would have been more appropriate. Can't help thinking Carrie's got a lot of romantic ideas that he's never going to live up to.

I'm disgusted that this serial adulterer could marry in any church, but in the Catholic Cathedral, well,it's just shameful. angry

Baggs Sat 29-May-21 21:42:15

He isn't.

EllanVannin Sat 29-May-21 21:38:43

I wasn't aware that he was a Catholic either.

EllanVannin Sat 29-May-21 21:37:42

I wasn't aware that his previous marriage was annulled ?

Luckygirl Sat 29-May-21 21:27:59

False news!?? - effective for deflecting the minds of the public from other things?

lemongrove Sat 29-May-21 21:26:55

I thought they were marrying next year...there is nothing on the news ( from anywhere) about it.

Callistemon Sat 29-May-21 21:14:25

So, if previous marriages are annulled, does that make children of those marriages illegitimate?

Not that it matters morally but it could legally.

Anniebach Sat 29-May-21 21:12:46

I thought divorced Catholics had to have their marriage annulled before remarrying in Church

Callistemon Sat 29-May-21 21:04:30

Kali2

are they both Catholic?

Perhaps not.
So she could be married but not him??

Curiouser and curiouser!

Kali2 Sat 29-May-21 21:02:01

are they both Catholic?

JaneJudge Sat 29-May-21 20:57:28

There are rules in all churches I understand but I thought Catholic were much more Orthodox regarding rules around remarriage and he well...

Callistemon Sat 29-May-21 20:56:00

Or a third time ...

Callistemon Sat 29-May-21 20:54:59

X post, JaneJudge

Callistemon Sat 29-May-21 20:54:24

Boris and Carrie chose to tie the knot in London’s main Roman Catholic cathedral

Is this true because I understood Catholics could not marry for a second time in church?

I know that the C of E allows this.

Atqui Sat 29-May-21 20:54:00

It wasn’t on the afternoon news. Strange!

JaneJudge Sat 29-May-21 20:53:42

Are people who have committed adultery outside of marriage many times in many marriages allowed to get married in Catholic Cathedrals shock

Urmstongran Sat 29-May-21 20:49:13

Congratulations!

fairfraise Sat 29-May-21 20:47:54

Great news. Wishing them every happiness.

Callistemon Sat 29-May-21 20:42:36
