Congratulations to Boris and Carrie who got married today in Westminster Catholic Cathedral. Just that really. I love weddings, doesn't matter who the couple are, I always hope it works out happily.

I think when a thread appears in the email you read the OP and a few comments and boom you bang down your reply. Not really realising it has been going a few days.

I have just discovered the 'i'm on' and other joyous buttons at the bottom so have been freed to prowl round Gransnet at leisure!

I am not computer literate despite going to school when computing became a thing. I completed my degree on a typewriter when we were supposed to use a computer. I can't use printers or photocopiers either just a mind block.
Smart phones have been a revolution for me.

This is an answer to posts about people popping on and putting opinions after many pages of indepth discussion. I won't put my thoughts again on Boris's hypocritical Catholic Wedding!

I don't think we'll ever know how many people cheat in these polls. People will lie about it.

Also presumably that's the ones who were caught or admitted to it. Not sure how they can be the most accurate statistics.

Does thinking about it count?

Galaxy that's quite a bit lower than I would have expected.
I wonder what others think

Galaxy Wed 02-Jun-21 09:10:23

No I was wrong its 20 % of men compared to 13 % of women apparently.

Galaxy Wed 02-Jun-21 09:08:45

I think infidelity is pretty equal amongst the sexes but I may have got my stats wrong.

FannyCornforth Wed 02-Jun-21 09:04:18

It's s wonder anyone has a long, successful marriage, really, if you think about men and women's different biological imperatives

I think it brings the Catholic church into disrepute (as if it hasn't got enough problems already!). Two letters in the I from priests who are very unhappy about this as they have had to tell other couples that they cannot marry in the church because of previous divorce.

Of course, there are decent, principled people within all religions but the male-dominated power structures that seem to govern all religions are pretty corrupt and corrosive in my opinion.

Once again.....
priests have had to turn others down ( Catholic couples) because the they have gone through a divorce but were married originally in a Catholic church. Therefore they cannot get married in a Catholic church again.
The RC church does not recognise marriages made previously
Either in C of E churches, chapels, or Register Offices, and therefore divorced couples who were baptised into the RC faith can marry again in a Catholic church.
It has nothing to do with how much money you have or your job.

I think it's usually a bit later than that, if you look at someone like Rod Stewart for example (the two have so much in commongrin) he was in his sixties. It's basically when you cant be arsed anymore. It takes quite a lot of effort, in terms of the deceit.

I think that there is a type of man who is finally happy to settle down in their 50s.
It's just incredibly unfortunate for all of the women and children who were involved in the previous thirty years.

She wont be the first woman to have thought that about a man. It's a fairly common idea. I can change him.

I remember a joke about that. Women’s thoughts about marriage-

My Big Fat Catholic Wedding would make a good film.

Yes, I noticed that too Eloethan.

How hypocritical for all concerned to allow a twice divorced man to get married in a catholic church, when so many others have been refused.

I do think that after everything that Bodger has been through, he'll be so grateful for the deep comfort of the double bed, as opposed to the hurly burly of the chaise lounge.

(Where is that from? Does anyone know?smile)

The repetitions on this thread are proof that most on GN don’t bother reading previous comments.

I don’t understand people not reading any of the thread. Weird just reading the OPnand bashing down your two pennorth.

Perhaps posters want to get straight to the point and/or answer the original question without the often irrelevance ipod the rest of the thread.

Or they are busy and just want to reply.

Boris and Carrie have got married!
Perhaps he's met his match at last!
