Late again. Morning/afternoon everyone. Fabulous weather in Scottish Borders. Hope all going well for people. Tackling recycling, weeding a forest of dandelions, washing on and focusing on my exercises. Take care.

Good Morning Bank Holiday Monday
(54 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its a cloudy but dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Today will be spent with housework after breakfast, a small shop , and then maybe a coffee break .
And the afternoon watching a cycle race on TV from France.
Take Care,
Mick
Good Morning All x.
At last the sun has decided to show its face as I thought for one minute that we were back to normal with the weather and they'd got the forecast all wrong.
It's quite breezy though and not the weather for sailing
Marvellous for washing !
The strength of that sun yesterday foxed me even though there was a stiff breeze at the same time so I'm rather red-faced as I'd sat in the garden chatting. Then I felt overheated when I went to bed----silly me ! I'm not 20 anymore, I could have been burnt to a frazzle. The red has turned to brown so not as fiery now. Vitamin D overload
A Happy Birthday to MrSusan, enjoy the day.
Marydoll never fails to make me smile ( the taser treatment ) and whatever the suffering, doesn't lose that cheeky humour. It's what keeps you going Mary.
Hope Grandmajet is healing well and feeling a bit more human.
Sounds like a busy time for ginny, the feeding of the 5 thousand
I don't know what I'll be doing today so far, but not much cooking will be involved. Cold lamb and potato-cakes with the left-over mash from yesterday, a bit of a mixture really. I might even start that with a prawn cocktail to use up those large prawns in the freezer. Posh, or what ? Got to keep the strength up.
I think it's going to be a scorcher today but I'll keep out of the sun, or put my umbrella up if the neighbour's are out.
Poor D is working in this but one consolation is that she's by the sea where it'll be a lot cooler. Border control still has to continue but it means double time which is another month's mortgage paid.
Have a good day all of you with thoughts to those who aren't up to the mark. Stay safe and take care.xx
Good morning from south Devon. It's bright and sunny with a slight breeze. I've watered everything in the garden. After all that rain you wouldn't think it needed it, but it does now.
I'm not keen on bank holidays but will make a real effort not to feel sorry for myself. I'll sit in the garden and be cheerful.
A belated good morning, hope the sun is out for all of you by now. Having a lazy day today, haven't even put the washing on yet.
Yesterday DH helped get my summer wardrobe out of the loft and put our winter clothes up there. Good to see clothes I bought last summer that I had forgotten about.
We have been called to help out with DGS tomorrow, so will try and finish little Olive's cardigan today, but a bit of a way to go.
Thoughts with those who are struggling, and those missing.
It’s impossible to beat a bit of flirting/bartering with a stall holder, Marydoll! I imagine he would recognise you, know what was coming and enjoy it as much as you did.
Where are my manners? Happy birthday MrSusan56.
Flipping heck Alizarin; it’s difficult to keep up with your name changes especially with the gaps in time! I had noticed your were missing.
A quick return..Happy Birthday MrSusan ?? and a welcome back to Alizarin .
Thank you Stilllearning. Ha ha ha ha ha Urmstongran. My final identity I hope.
Nannagarra, I have been collecting them for years. Usually manage to get two for a total of between 50 and 60 Euros. It does involve a bit of flirting bartering with the same stallholder each year!
Morning Mick and all
I am taking a leaf out of Urmstongran’s #lazygran book, I am lolling on the bed with all the windows open, the sky is blue and the sun is shining. DH is watering hanging baskets and is about to empty and clean the hot tub, I am so pleased that’s his domain as it’s a big one!!! (all the GC have learnt to swim in it)
I shall potter inside and outside, might put a wash on or might not but whatever the sun is out, yippee ???
Happy birthday Mr Susan ?
Take care all our poorly and missing friends
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Your camping party, Susan56, sounds wonderful. Hope your SiL is well enough to be with you but if not that your DGS enjoys his first journey on a train.
Marydoll - the solution I suggest is to stop looking for X and go in search of Y. That way, I nearly always find X. ? Such luxury to have cashmere ponchos from Rome. Several too. I must have missed them on my travels...
?
Good Morning everyone.
How fantastic, a UK Bank Holiday with ? sunshine. Hope that helps with enjoyable get togethers and allows shoulders to drop and worries to recede.
So pleased one hip is Hip Hip Hooray for you, Alizarin. Best of luck with the 2nd one - you’ll be a new person soon….cartwheels and long walks (perhaps), but pain free. How wonderful.
? Happy ? Birthday, Miss Matilda’s Granddad and many Happy Returns!
Safe return to your little beach paradise, Gingster, nice to leave your Essex garden in good hands!
Busy morning relocating ? small confused hedgehog - starring a dustpan, a bucket, leather gauntlets, a camera and 2 kindly but concerned dogs; then re-arrangement of garden furniture, pot watering, lawn sprinkling and we’re now making coffee and planning on some Vit D top ups! Have just seen the endless abandonment of neighbours’ wonderful plump cherries in our garden. We could use them except the birds ensure that they take one bite out of each before moving on! Little perishers!
No BH here - ooooh, thankfully - we’ve had 4 this month. Beach walk when it’s cooler at end of the day and supper in the garden.
Take care and have fun where you can. Life’s still for living as long as you stay safe. x
??????????????♀️
‘Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day, tra la!’
? ?
Good morning everyone from a gloriously sunny south Manchester. We have no plans at all. Himself has just gone down to the larder with a small list, wearing shorts, a tee and deck shoes. I feel as though we’re back in Malaga!
Thank you for so many mentions about our day trip to Lytham beach yesterday. It was fab. I posted on soops yesterday evening. Actually when I think about it, I do tend to put my daily intentions on here and report my doings on soops later!
Sorry to hear you’re still feeling rotten Marydoll. It must be very wearying for you and an anxious time for your family until you feel better. Hello the lady who was Viridian and MellowYellow ? how lovely to have you back here again. If I scroll up for you new name I’ll lose my post!
Anyway all, I’m planning to enjoy this treat of a hot sunny day (Himself had sun protection cream by Garnier on his list for my face as we only had sun spray in and that’s not for faces - hence my sunburnt forehead from yesterday - horses and stable doors, I know). Happy BH Monday everyone. x
It’s probably the same person who is responsible for my bathroom toilet rolls disappearing Savvy ?
A happy birthday to MrSusan ??. I like the sound of a camping party.
Hope everyone has a good bank holiday .I am going to friend's for a natter and lunch ,we never go far on bank holiday when I was working I used to offer to work ,we prefer quieter days sounds like we are anti social we arnt just dislike crowds especially now .
Good morning all, from chilly but bright North East.
Planning on spending the day catching up, and hopefully getting to the bottom of, the pile of washing. I swear someone's sneaking it in when I'm not looking, lol.
Another morning from S Lanarkshire A lovely day yesterday, a good long walk in the sunshine and then a really nice evening having dinner with my so kind next door neighbours.
This afternoon I’m going to visit a dear friend who has been very poorly but actually sounded ‘like herself ‘ as it were, yesterday on the phone. Seizing the moment, our other friend and I are taking a picnic lunch and hoping for a happy hour or two in her garden. Praying that she is at last on the mend.
Welcome back Alizarin, I have wondered how you were doing, pleased to hear about your successful hip operation and good luck for the next one.
Thinking of Grandmajet and other missing posters and wishing everyone a pleasant day??
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning GraMingos from Sefton where glorious weather is forecast so we’ll have zillions of visitors for a second day. In our early twenties we used to be in their number, park within view of our house and dream of being residents. After a day at the coast we’d return to the car, laden with ‘stuff’ and red as lobsters; now we saunter out carrying merely a house key when most have gone home!
After a busy Sunday, today will be quiet - a necessary lull before we celebrate two birthdays during the week.
Thank you for the info about vit D IU, Marydoll. Local chemists have variously recommended 800IU and 500IU.
Hope everyone has a sunny, flamingo-filled day especially Marydoll, Cherry, Auntieflo, Susan56 and grandmajet.
?????
Good morning all from a sunny and warm S Welsh coast. Some laundry to do, the ironing can wait, a short walk and then sitting in the garden, day sorted.
Happy Birthday to Susan's DH, the garden activities sound fun ? Enjoy your day ginny.
Hope Cherry and Auntieflo are alright.
Have a pleasant day and enjoy the sunshine.
Good morning all . Dull in Cheshire this morning but very mild. Hope sun gets out later. BBQ yesterday at DS so a lot of playing in the garden with DGS and DGD. A lovely evening.
Lots of plans on GN this morning for the Bank Holiday. Wishing you a good day and respite from worries ( not always possible , I know ) Need to read posts earlier so I can see everyone's before I post ! Lots of people planning some gardening. Wish I liked it but really don't. I think of gardening as "outside housework" but I love to see the results !
Good morning everyone, it’s still grey looking out this morning and supposed to stay cloudy all day and maybe a thunderstorm later. I should be grateful because it’s much easier on my eye but I’m not.
Mind you I am glad that the UK mostly has good bank holiday weather. I’ve received some lovely sunny photographs and videos from family, it’s good to see them starting to get outside and enjoy themselves.
It’s not a holiday here today, physio later this morning and maybe some shopping later. We have a couple of bank holidays later in the month.
Marydoll, I accidentally turned my tens machine the wrong once myself. You have my sympathy. I hope it helps with your pain.
Good morning from Shropshire.
It is DH’s birthday today.DGD asked to come and stay over last night so she could greet the birthday boy on his birthday. She is still asleep!
We have a camping party planned in the garden. One tent is up, we have a den making kit and food will be cooked outside on the camping stove? Not my idea of fun but DH and son in law if he is well enough to come will be in their element and of course the children will love it⛺️??
DD will drive over if son in law is well enough but if not she will come by train with three year old DGS.It will be his first trip on a train?
Am hoping Cherry is ok and taking time to rest and recuperate.
Mary, I have used a tens machine in the past but blooming heck that sounds awful?
Thinking of all our absent posters and all with illness and worries?
Have a good day all??
Good morning all and it’s sunny here, too. ?.
We had a pleasant couple of hours in DS1’s garden yesterday. His in-laws were there and we haven’t seen them for two years, so it was nice to catch up with them.
We are tidying up the house and garden today as we will be going up to our cottage by the sea tomorrow for about 3 weeks. Our lovely kindly neighbour will look after our pots and hanging baskets. DS will pop round to mow the lawn and DD said she will water the tomato plants , so all should be well. ?
Enjoy the beautiful weather ???
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. An uninspiring start to the weather today, but it will brighten no doubt. We shepherded DS to the woodland venue for his walking stick course yesterday only to be told he had the wrong day. Then another chap turned up who also “had the wrong day”. A check of paperwork revealed that the organisers had the put the wrong course date on all the paperwork, so they had to hurriedly find a tutor to come in and take the course for the two of them. DS enjoyed it enormously. DH and I went on to watch GS play his socks off on the football field, and then spent a quiet afternoon sitting in the sunny garden. We are having a short walk today and then there is an annoying hedge to be cut - annoying because it’s at the back of our boundary wall and we shouldn’t have to cut it but if we don’t, no-one else will and it will block the pavement.
To those who are struggling, a virtual hug. To all, have a good day.
