It sounds as if you have a considerable problem, Grandmabatty. I hope you soon find relief.

Happy wedding anniversary, Susan56. ???
It says much that you are looking after H today.
My DH thinks we had the present kitchen fitted a few years ago. Yeah, right! ???

Good morning, Mick and all from a sunnyish Carlisle.
I went into town to my new hairdresser yesterday, very handily situated just above the car park. I had a hassle getting off my estate first though. Raised manhole covers have bred in the last few weeks, now they have closed off several roads and are putting in raised drain covers! I finally found my way out while keeping my car's underneath intact. I'm hoping all the activity means they will be finally starting to do the roadway.
The hairdresser was fine, my cut turned out much in my usual style. The price wasn't though! Rather more than my small town price but it seems to be the norm for the city centre so I'll probably go back. The city centre was busy with people strolling around enjoying the sun and sitting around with coffees etc. Good to see.
Today's outing won't be pleasurable, it's to the dentist this afternoon. A broken tooth needs mending and she's going to do a thorough cleaning . I hate the latter, I've got sensitive teeth and tender gums so it will be very sore during and after.
New neighbours have moved in opposite and on either side this week. Everyone is so much younger than me! I would bet I'm the oldest person on the estate, I don't know how I'm going to get on with that.
Well, off to do some minor housework and admin and to try not to think about the dentist.
The best day possible to you all.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Happy Anniversary Susan56 ??

Have had a busy couple of days which have proved fruitful. Eventual helpful conversation with the Parkinson’s nurse and visit from a potential carer to give me an afternoon a week free of responsibility. DH liked her - cheerful, chatty and nice to look at though her smile was of course masked - so I am hopeful. The company will only dispense medicines from a dosset box, which is a pain since I allocate the day’s medication the night before into a box which shouts out loud and makes it hard to forget. Not sure how we get round this but I expect we can. DH is probably under-medicated, according to the P’s nurse, so the timings may change.

Expecting my first grocery delivery today and hoping I haven’t done anything stupid. Thought I ought to get into the habit of an occasional delivery in case it becomes more necessary. Will need to learn to be systematic about it or we could finish up with lots of wine and no loo paper.

Good morning everyone from a bright Northampton; hope it stays bright and dry for our health walk this evening, and visit to the pub afterwards for a drink and a meal.

Bathrooms to clean this morning, and the usual tidying up of other rooms. The towels are in the washing machine and will hang them out for a blow afterwards.

Yesterday afternoon was lovely; the first meeting of our book club since February last year. I had a very pleasant 45 minute walk up there, taking my time, and we were welcomed with Prosecco and delicious cake! We spent three hours chatting of which only a very short time was spent discussing books.... I came home with a borrowed hardback, plus I was offered a lift home. Two of us have arranged to start yoga classes again next Monday, so it was on to Amazon when I got home to order yoga blocks, as we need to take our own. They will arrive today.

Must get moving and get stuff done. Take care and stay safe everyone.

Grandmabatty Thu 01-Jul-21 08:30:02

Marydoll many thanks for the useful advice and the salutary warning. I'm prone to be stoic and carry on and I can see this will make matters worse.

Good morning from a bright, breezy Durham. Haven’t posted for a while as DD1 is moving house. They’ve completed in only 3 weeks, so it’s been all hands on deck!
Have continued to read GM posts - some upbeat, some not so - it’s such a snapshot of life.
Hope we all make the best of our day. X

Good morning from a bright Derbyshire.

Out to the Bird cafe this morning and a wander around Hathersage.
My niece and her husband coming round this evening.

Happy Anniversary Susan.

Susan56 Thu 01-Jul-21 08:21:44

Good morning from Shropshire.

Today is our wedding anniversary. We have a few days away planned but childcare today and tomorrow. We wouldn't normally have H today but our son in laws parents have been struggling looking after him so we have been asked to step in.

Glad your BP has settled Ash and have a lovely time at your DD’s.

corner I am the same with the MOT.When I first learnt to drive and had older cars the MOT always brought a big bill and I have never lost that feeling of dread.

Nannagarra I too have planted the seeds in DH’s head about a new kitchen but like mattie’s husband it takes a while for him to decide. We are possibly talking years here??

Hope Mary had a good day yesterday and would be good to see Urms with her first of the month post.

Have a good day all??

Elizabeth1 Thu 01-Jul-21 08:15:44

Good morning all from a gloriously sunny day on the east coast of Fife.I was near blinded when himself drew these blackout curtains, guess it’s time to get up. Yesterday I made the most delicious tagliatelle and no fainting episodes either like I had the last time. Unfortunately I had run out of white wine (wonder where it all went to winkand it was a tad dry but that didn’t detract from the taste I scoffed down every last morsel, must warm the plate in future.

Now to eat more of the pasta ribbons today they’ve got a very short shelve life before turning black.

I too was watching the tennis yesterday it’s such a shame there’s so many sliding on the pitch or whatever it’s called. I even managed to join a zoom from my bedside which I find to be of great support and long may it continue.

I’m off out tomorrow to meet up with a few friends for morning coffee it should be fun, these mid morning coffee breaks are starting to pile on the pounds must refrain from going for cream in future wonder if that’ll help.? grin

Marydoll Thu 01-Jul-21 08:15:34

Grandmabatty, I'm sorry to hear about your wrist.

Suffering from tensonovitis in my right hand was one of the reasons I had to give up my job, it is excrutiating. I couldn't use it for nearly six months, because I didn't want to bother anyone and it got increasingly worse.
I wear immobilising splints (still do on occasions) and use 10% Ibruprofen gel, which is only available on prescription. My treatment included physio, steroid injections, hot and cold packs and eventually an op. If you are allowed, take Ibruprofen tablets, unfortunately I'm not allowed them. It takes a combination of treatments to get relief.

By all means, please go to your pharmacy for advice, but also phone your GP for help. From the sound of things, you need early intervention.

I hope you get some relief soon. Mine felt like constant, raging toothache in the end. I was a fool, trying to be stoic!

Grandmabatty Thu 01-Jul-21 08:10:58

Grannygravy I certainly will. Thank you.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 01-Jul-21 08:09:13

Morning Mick and all

The sun has appeared here in S E Essex - yippee

Unfortunately I will not see much of it as I am off to the hairdressers this morning, woven high/lowlights and a cut. I shall take my book and hopefully finish it. Then it will be a garden tidy after all the rain.

Ash pleased to here you have a solution to your BP, Muse hope your knee improves, Grandmabatty ask to speak to the pharmacist before you buy a splint, I have found ours to be invaluable since lockdowns.

Thinking of all our missing friends especially Urmstongran , Gillybob , EV

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Alygran Thu 01-Jul-21 08:08:08

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s a lovely morning here.
DD2 arrives today for the weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing her and having some company. Ironing to do and her bed to make up first.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.

Marydoll Thu 01-Jul-21 08:03:33

Good morning all from a very sunny Glasgow. I feel like a half shut knife after another disturbed night. The hacking cough is back again, it is so debilitating. I spent part of the night downstairs, trying not to wake DH.
Much to my delight, (and embarrassment, who would admit to that? blush ) I have discovered a new Chinese medical drama, to pass those long hours. At this rate, I will fluent in Mandarin.

Ash, I'm so glad you managed to speak to a GP yesterday and good luck with your MRI. My way of coping with these procedures is to count back in a foreign language. During the last one, the radiographer thought I was unconscious, I was concentrating so hard. I know, I'm rather mad! ?

Yesterday's five hour lunch was a delight, I drank a whole bottle of Nosecco, wonderful stuff as I remained totally sober. I can't speak for the others.?
We shed a few tears for the sixth member of our gang, who sadly died a few years ago. She was the most beautiful and elegant woman, I have ever met, who made us laugh so much with her unconscious humour. Her husband was a senior airline captain, who used to joke that he wasn't safe around me, wearing his uniform. I do love a man in uniform! The more stripes, the better! I am indeed a husky! wink

I will love you and leave you all, I need to go to Sainsbury's, while its quiet, for more strawberry tart pastry cases and a wee wander!

A special mention and prayers for Grannyactivist's wee granddaughter in NZ, who is in ICU.

Wishing you all the best of days.

Good morning from the Black country, dull yet again but have the washing on so hoping it gets a bit brighter. Bank and a local shop and maybe a bit of gardening.
Enjoy your Thursday and may you all find some ?

Grandmabatty Thu 01-Jul-21 07:57:31

Good morning all. Polmont is grey at the moment but I have every faith it will burn off to reveal a lovely day. Ashcombe I'm glad your bp is sorted. Enjoy your trip to family. Dwm it sounds like you have your hands full. Pittcity hurrah! A finished garden. Enjoy it.
Yesterday I had given up hope of garden man arriving but he eventually turned up at eleven. He did a marvelous job of the hedge and tidied up after himself. He hasn't finished and will need to come back but I'm sure he will. I've asked him to paint the deck too.
After two weeks of fairly intense pain in my hand, I visited Dr Google. I think I have tendonitis so a visit to the chemist is on the cards for a wrist splint. There's little point in trying to access my doctor for this as appointments are like hen's teeth.
Today I am going to lunch with my Wednesday WhatsApp chums. What's even better is I can walk to the pub as it's only five minutes away. It'll be lovely. I will invite them back to my garden afterwards if they like. Whatever your day holds, I hope it is good.

Grandmajean Thu 01-Jul-21 07:51:17

Good morning all ! Dull here in Cheshire but quite warm.
Glad you are feeling better Ash Hope day goes well.
You are one busy lady Dwm
Trip to Waitrose today to supplement fortnightly Morrison's order. Virtual choir later.
Earlier posting today as like to do the shopping trip just after schools start when things are quiet. Pizza ingredients needed as have promised to make pizza for two youngest GC who come for tea on a Friday.

Nannagarra Thu 01-Jul-21 07:49:31

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is cloudy and mild.
Good news that your BP is near normal, Ashcombe. Enjoy your time in Crewe.
Lunch out yesterday was followed by a visit to IKEA. As usual there was much to inspire and we came home with some goodies - virtually all associated with food preparation. I’m working on DH coming round to the idea of a new kitchen.
This afternoon it’s my turn to be the garden host. Last week the chat turned to a famous brand of tea cakes which we’ll be ‘testing’ (as you do) today. Market research, don’t you know?
Sending a smile and a flamingo your way.
?????

baubles Thu 01-Jul-21 07:48:39

Good morning Mick, morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire.

Our usual childminding afternoon in the capital but as the gymnastics class has paused for the summer we’ve booked tickets for the Museum of Scotland instead. DH’s hay fever is bad just now so he will be more comfortable indoors and the four year old loves this museum. We can have our picnic there as they have a designated room with tables and benches.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day with as few troubles as possible.

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 01-Jul-21 07:41:34

Good morning all from cloudy Harrogate
What a busy day you have dwm. How it goes well. What a relief ashcombe to sort your BP.
Dd1 coming this morning to go for a walk with DH and dog. Have a Sainsburies delivery today. Then DH
has an optician appointment. This pm I shall have DGd after school for a short time, probably she’ll be having tea with us

Have a great day folks!

NannyJan53 Thu 01-Jul-21 07:41:06

Good morning from a dull Black Country, where it is predicted to be sunny later.

Meeting with a friend at a cafe on the Staffordshire railway walk. Last time we met was in March, when we walked from her house to Himley Hall grounds, and had a take away coffee. Seems so long ago, but for one reason and another life got in the way of meeting up.

Wishing you well for your scan today Ashcombe. It just goes to show how a different doctor can offer a fresh perspective.

Enjoy your day everyone.

kittylester Thu 01-Jul-21 07:39:25

Good morning from a dull North Leicestershire.

Exciting day at Lester Towers today - ironing and Sainsbury's delivery.

Gingster Thu 01-Jul-21 07:37:18

Good morning all and it’s bright here in Essex. It’s been so dreary the last few days.

Today it’s bowls club and then taking little pooch for her bi-annual check up at the vet. She hates going and shivers and shakes.

Ash enjoy your time with your DD.
Alizirin lots to do on your allotment. Take it slowly.

Take care all ?
