Yes, got sent a letter from the Government, no less, all two pages of it. Details of how I can dispute the offer I am being given. The offer is - wait for it - 25p a week. Now I have a problem what shall I do with it? Invest or save.

lovetopaint if you were pregnant you would be worth far more than 25p, advertising fees, paid interviews, celebrity status.
The world would indeed be your lobster.

Good thinking. What have I missed? Guinness Book of records! All that cash to splash.

Hi Lovetopaint
Thank you for making us all smile this morning, it must feel like winning the lottery!
Have a great 80th birthday tomorrow.

Blimey it cost them more than that in postage.
Don`t spend it all at once and have a lovely 80th lovetopaint037.

Good thinking 25Avalon.

Mum has received her 25p for 11 years now. So if she had saved it, she would now have the princely sum of £143! grin

Esspee

I would write to my MP telling them about your grateful appreciation of their government's largesse.

Better send an email otherwise you will have spent it all and more on the stamp!

I thought your exciting news might well be that you are pregnant!

Well Liz that would be something! Think! Family Allowance!! So sorry you were disappointed by a mere 25p but the old body that I am trying to carry around isn’t up to it these days. But boy! That would be an announcement at the family get together. Let alone the look on their grandad’s face! We can all dream Liz and it doesn’t even cost 25p.

Lovetopaint037 Wed 07-Jul-21 17:19:45

Lime and coconut cake as per Delia Smith. That’s. an idea and still money left over. wow! As for the 2011 list of ten things to buy, well the world is my Oyster especially if I can get to the Czech Republic although don’t care for beer but bound to have some wine! And all the time that money is rolling in. Whoopee I nearly feel 79 again. Happy days.

I read this and though ooooh there's loads of things Lovetopaint can treat herself too. Then I saw the article is dated 2011. Inflation probably means these treasures are way out of reach now. Sorry Loadsapaint for building your hopes up.

Amazing isn’t Don’t know how many years this has been going on hasbeengoing on but I remember my dad getting it and he died in1996 aged 94 , bit like the £10 Christmas bonus, dad used to buy a bottle of good brandy with that!!

JaneJudge Wed 07-Jul-21 16:27:54

Freddo's are 25p

Aldom Wed 07-Jul-21 16:26:32

Well done Oopsadaisy1 and love to paint can save the 7p's in the jar! Hope she likes limes. My favourite, so when my time comes I'll know what to buy etc. smile

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 07-Jul-21 14:36:28

Keep the faith people, all is not lost

Sainsburys have 1 x fresh Lime for 18p so you get change!!

Now, what to do with the 7p………..

Lovetopaint037 Wed 07-Jul-21 14:28:48

Thank you all for your good wishes and excellent advice. Rather fancy a jar to save up in. When it is full I can go mad and buy something truly magnificent. Only problem is that I might not survive that long so perhaps I should mention it in my will!!! Thank you for making me laugh. That is better than the 25p.

Infinity2 Wed 07-Jul-21 13:02:14

It has to be bitcoin ?

ExDancer Wed 07-Jul-21 12:29:43

Save it up in a jar, just think - in 11 or 12 weeks you'll be able to treat yourself to a Black coffee (as long as you don't go somewhere 'posh')
What excitement!
I hope you have a lovely birthday. flowers

I have seen a pattern I want to stitch, if I had that extra I could
buy the threads in 54 weeks
