Good morning Mick, morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

No childminding today as my DoutL is taking the children by train to visit her mum near Southampton for a week.
I think we are going to visit a National Trust property in Glasgow but as I haven’t booked a slot to tour the house it may just be the grounds and Café. DDog is going to day care as she usually does on Thursdays, wouldn’t want to up set her routine. grin

Lovely photos Ash.

Mine are from a couple of days ago when we visited Dumfries House, a property owned by Prince Charles. The grounds are just lovely, lots of woodlands a well as a walled garden. It’s only 40 minutes from us so we go several times a year although we’ve never managed to take a tour of the house since we always have the dog with us. Unusually there is no charge for parking and no entry fee for the grounds.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day with as few worries as possible.

I'm fascinated with clouds too Ashcombe. No photo unfortunately, but in Norway I saw a host of lenticular clouds over mountains, the ones people mistake for UFOs. Amazing.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bit cloudy but quite warm.
Sorry to hear you’re having a difficult time with the family Susan I hope it eases soon
A quieter day for me today as DGC are at home with their dad and we get a day off childcare. Yesterday we had another good but busy day keeping them occupied. On Tuesday we’d taken them to Fort George just near Inverness and they had a great time there and we even saw the bottle nosed dolphins swimming close to the shoreline in the Moray Firth. It was the first time the DGC had seen them despite various dolphin watching trips and they were so pleased. I tried for a photo but all I managed was lots of snaps of the sea!
I’m off for a coffee and a catch up with my friend later today at Dobbies garden centre so looking forward to some adult company
Chatsworth is beautiful dwm I remember visiting with my DD1 for a lovely afternoon tea there a few years ago for my birthday - I hope you enjoy your day
DH was on the edge of his seat last night watching the footy and I was watching peeping through my fingers - Good luck to England in the final - I hope they win ???????
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 12C. It feels quite muggy at the moment.
Mr MDoll has been up since the crack of dawn ( I'm sure he never went to bed ?) for the contractors who start early. Consequently, I'm up too!!

Today the first stage of the work will be completed and I have to say it has surpassed our expectations. There are not just any decking contractors, these are craftsmen contractors! Perfect mitre corners and the best part of all, it is precisely level with the conservatory floor, to a mm. I used to trip down the set of stairs every time I came out onto the old decking. Its like having an extension built onto to it.
We are just waiting for the steel and glass to be delivered and of course there is a worldwide shortage of building materials.

As expected, the cost keep rising. ( The children are seriously alarmed at the rate their inheritance is rapidly disappearing. ?)
We use the conservatory, as an additional sitting room, to where I escape, when on TV, there is golf, football, rugby, snooker, boxing, snail racing, watching paint dry etc, etc.
Unfortunately the television is kaput! It must have happened when DH was decorating! (Of course, nothing to do with him ?)
True to form, he will need to analyse all the features of potential TV purchases, before making, as they say on QVC, a considered purchase. It will probably be next summer before that actually happens, going by previous scenarios !!! This is despite the fact he is rarely in the conservatory, it I who should be deciding!!! ?

I have at last got my sewing machine working. It took all morning, as I couldn't get the casing off. I even resorted to watching You Tube videos, with DH and the two workmen at the back door, offering un helpful advice! Then DH noticed the foot was up, as soon as he put it down, ( he is an expert at putting his foot down, ?) the casing fell off. blush. There is no fool like this old fool! ?
However, it still wasn't working, the thread kept breaking and I was becoming extremely frustrated. Then I remembered a tip from one of the Goodmorningers, I think it may be Sar or Scentia, so I checked for a bent needle. Bingo!! Thank you so much. Being vertically challenged in both the arms and legs, I had a mountain of alterations to do!

Obviously I can't get washing out in this good weather, as my rotary dryer had to come down. After the men left yesterday, I had the bright idea of putting up the clothes airer outside, to avoid using the tumble dryer. It was warm with a good breeze. Bad move indeed! As I was looking out, congratulating myself, I saw a cerise pink bra ( needs to match my outfit, TMI?) hanging from a tree and various other items of underwear, decorating the greenery. I was going to post a picture, but thought it might be censored! ?

Susan, I'm saddened to hear of all your family worries. You need to look after yourself too. It has not been an easy time for you and your family.
Imogen has been in my thoughts and all the others too , who are struggling.

Another day in for me, I think. Not a very good night, my painful hand and foot are driving me nuts, but nothing can be done, at present. Its such a blooming nuisance, when I like to be busy.
I have to admit to being rathernippy with DH at the moment ( He is hard work,, as you all know ? ). To compensate for being a crabbit old besom, ( pain alters your behaviour), I intend to make his favourite rhubarb crumble today with rhubarb from the garden. I haven't been able to reach it, due to the wood lying everywhere. For the first time ever in years, it has sprouted.

I will come back later and read all the posts. Have a good day and stay safe everyone. Mick, please be extra careful on those buses, especially if you are not wearing a mask.

Good morning from a bright, dry south Cornwall. Well done England!!!!

I wish someone would flirt outrageously with me grandMattie! Ha ha. Susan, I hope you can sleep tonight.

Today I must extract myself from the buzzing town centre - it's addictive with the pier and little markets and happy holidaymakers - and walk along the seafront to stretch my hips more. I need some white wool to complete a puffin so my friend whose husband is my postman is giving it to him to put through my letterbox. What service!

Have the best day you can. Thoughts and prayers for those in anguish. I have an ongoing family situation which is very sad but I can't detail it here, so although I sound blithe I do know how it feels to live with sorrow.

Ashcombe Thu 08-Jul-21 07:18:54

Yes, Jaxjacky, some cruise ships have sailed away, only to be replaced by others

Thank you, Dwmxwg, for your kind comment. Both DH (*olddudders*) and I are fascinated by clouds. For me this began on a visit to New Zealand, known as the Land of the Long White Cloud! Enjoy your last day and I’m glad you have sunshine. ☀️

Jaxjacky Thu 08-Jul-21 07:13:05

Good morning all from a cloudy S Hants.
Susan that sounds wearing and unnecessary, take care. Enjoy your role play Ashcombe still got the ships in the bay I see.
Well, what a game last night, it was an enjoyable/tortuous watch!
No morning plans, this afternoon Imogen is here as DD wants to go into work for a few hours, steps towards normality.
Have a good day with ?? and ?? for all.

Dwmxwg Thu 08-Jul-21 07:06:34

Good morning from a sunny Peak District (our last day).

Susan sorry to hear family have caused you a sleepless night, hope you can manage to catch up on some rest.

Ash beautiful photos, as always. You have a gift at catching the scene.

BlueSapphire I am with you on early planning for holidays/what to pack.

I was a wreck watching the match last night and ended up coming to bed before the end. DH and the tv noise let me know the score and I did go back down to watch the celebrations. Lots of messages/videos pinging on the family WhatsApp group. Son’s OH messaged to ask would I look after the girls on Sunday evening so she can go out to watch the final with DS. I have agreed and can choose to peep at the game or not.

Yesterday the weather was kind to us, a local walk along the river Derwent. Rained for the last 10 minutes but by the time we arrived back at the cottage the sun came out and I was able to sit in the garden for couple of hours.

Today we have a walk on the Chatsworth Estate and dinner booked in a dog friendly pub in the next village. I plan to get most of the packing done today and hopefully won’t feel too rushed in the morning.

Wishing all a good day

Good morning Mick and all who follow from a cloudy Black country, can see a few breaks so here's hoping.
Haven't read through yet will wait till DH has gone out, have got an empty today he is looking at fishing venues with some other committee members.
Will do some housework and a small local shop.
Out with friends this evening we are going for an Indian meal at a recommended restaurant.
Enjoy your day and may you all find some ?.

Ashcombe Thu 08-Jul-21 06:37:33

Good morning from an overcast Torbay.

I agree, Mick. I think the lifting of restrictions should be more gradual, with masks continuing to be the rule in shops, surgeries, public buildings and on public transport for the foreseeable. This was the opinion of the nurse who performed my ECG yesterday.

Afterwards, I walked over the Downs where it wasn’t as cold as my photos might suggest. Our local council and volunteers have worked hard to create the colourful flowerbeds.

Today, I’m travelling over to Brixham Museum again for a few hours of being a live exhibit! I plan to alternate between fishwife, smuggler and poet.

Susan56: I’m so sorry you are having to deal with difficult relatives at such a worrying time. You need your sleep with all that’s happening and I hope things are calmer today.

Wishing you all a good day, with relief from pain or sadness. ?

Good morning from a bright E Kent.
An unexpected free Spanish class this morning. It would seem our teacher would like to keep us on our toes, even during the vacations.
My old friend had forgotten I was taking her out and turned up with no teeth or hearing aid... we went to a (very expensive and pretentious) local garden centre cafe where the very camp waiter flirted outrageously with her and made her day!
Hoping to get some plants from the market later to tart up the back garden.
Have a good day everyone, full of flamingoes, smiles, sunshine andno stress.

BlueSapphire Thu 08-Jul-21 06:35:37

Good morning everyone from a grey and overcast Northampton, although sunshine is forecast later.

Had a pleasant lunch in the park with a friend yesterday, then a good health walk around the forest; at times it felt as though we were hacking our way through the jungle as parts of the path were very overgrown. Then to the garden centre for a drink, only to find that the cafe has now started closing at 3pm, so we were unlucky. We shall now have to bring our walk time forward, or have a shorter walk!

Looking forward to an evening walk later on, followed by a meal at the pub. A few jobs to be done first, hoovering upstairs, the Sainsbury's delivery and a couple of loads of washing. I know it's a week to go now before our holiday, but I am already thinking about what clothes to take.

Let's hope we can all find a bit of sunshine ? today.

Susan56 Thu 08-Jul-21 06:23:57

Good morning Mick and all to follow from sunny Shropshire.

A sleepless night after a toxic family member not accepting boundaries we have made, luckily by phone as we live too far from everyone. Then DH’s niece phoned at gone midnight ranting that FIL is still in hospital and she doesn’t agree with the discharge care plan.

Anyway, a big line drawn under yesterday!

Today possibly a trip to Ikea if DD is feeling well.If not we will look after Hurricane Henry while she rests.

Hoping things are better for GrannySomerset and all others caring for loved ones.

Mary hope you rested yesterday and your foot is not as painful today and Grandmafrench am glad your appointment went well.

Thinking of our missing good morning friends and all unwell or worried.

Have the best day you can all??

Beechnut Thu 08-Jul-21 06:19:59

Good Morning all from Severnside where it is also cloudy.

I must do my ironing today after putting it off for days. I also have a few errands to run and a parcel delivery. I’ve got some card making to do for a birthday at the end of the month that needs to be posted overseas.

I have some suckers coming up from a shrub and have to find out and think what I’m going to do about them.

Take care everyone ?

Michael12 Thu 08-Jul-21 06:08:15

Good Morning Everyone,
Its cloudy but dry here in Brackley this morning, it will be a usual day for me after staying in yesterday .
I will have my usual hour in Bicester using the bus , do a small shop and cafe stop , it seems to have gone down as to people out and about . There are high admission as to covid , with Oxford being one key area for those admissions .
But will proceed with care , but think the PM has taken a gamble or he does not care about Joe Public .
Take Care,
Mick
