muse yes dressing change earlier today, thank you, DD has been instructed to photo the wound each time to show next nurse. Greenhouse doing well, baby toms, flowers on chillis and peppers, baby cukes and possibly flowers coming on aubergines. Never grown aubergines before, so I don’t know!

Auntieflo Fri 09-Jul-21 12:24:35

Well, back from the blood test. all very well organised and appointment time, spot on. Home to a coffee and a quick squizz at my emails. One from the Dr's surgery asking if I would take part in a survey, as I have been marked as a possible candidate for Parkinsons! I have enough to contend with these days without worrying about anything else, thank you very much!
You are all such a busy lot, that I can't keepup, and need a pencil and jotter to make notes. Maybe in future.
But, well done Elizabeth1, you are indeed doing extremely well. Hope you enjoy the cauliflower cheese, one of my favourites.
The OT is coming this afternoon, after her no show on Tuesday, to see how I am getting on with all the equipment that was delivered on Monday. Most of it is fine, but some will be going back. ?
Marydoll, DH has also had a cough for 40 odd years, a left over from asthma days. It comes and goes, but seems to do him no harm. Just very annoying, especially these days.
I am off to give him a lift to town shortly, for his volunteering afternoon, so hope the OT doesn't decide to arrive early ?
Have a good day one and all.

Good Morning Mick and all Morningsters. Cloud Cornwall is beckoning me out very soon. Gentle gardening today. Picked my first tayberries yesterday and will spend quite a time tying up new growth for next years crop.

Had an amazing session at Pilates last night. The drive there (5mins) went well. I explained what I had done and she put in a few stretches to help. The others were told the stretches would help them too. Average age is about 60. The stretches involved using a band. As I have my own, I'm doing some twice at day at home now.

Scentia. I will look out for you. I do enjoy that programme.

Jax How's the greenhouse? Everything is slow here. I've still got flowers on the toms and peppers. Hope Imogen's dressing goes OK. Think you said it was today.

Kitty Chelsea chop is in action here today as well.

Alizarin Do you have a Liverpool accent? My daughter's office is on Albert Docks. She does miss it as she is still working from home. I always enjoyed meeting her for lunch there when I visited.

Gelisajams. 2 years! Enjoy your long lunch.

Lins1066 Oh to have been there for that match. How fantastic to have watched it live.

Grandmadinosaur ? I might try that. Wonder if it works for adults too.

Elizabeth1 Well done. Enjoy the cauliflower cheese. We had that last night.

Espee That was a scene I would love to see.

Grandmafrench Sorry if I missed it, but how often do you have to go through all that? Glad you've both been rubbers stamped again. Will look for Tie Dye. I erected an arch last year to take a very ancient rambler. That's just finishing and I'd love some colour for late summer/autumn

Nannagarra. Thank you for those kind words. I'm getting there slowly. Horseflies? We call them pussyfoots as you can't feel them until they have bitten. MrM has an allergy with some bites, namely mossies and horseflies. He's finally given in with his own make do dressings, and started regular visits to the surgery for treatment of a bite he had two years ago.?Apparently, for some, there is something in their bite that stops the wound from healing and MrM is one of the unlucky ones.

I started this post at 9:21 as you posted Nannagarra. Had a break for late breakfast and a wander down to the drainage to see the final stage happening today. I'm doing a very quick preview and??I will catch the post before 12:00

Safe day everyone.

Good morning from a lovely sunny South Yorkshire.
The internet connection has been playing up, so I’m late to the party today even though I’ve been up since 7.30.

Got some washing drying on the line and another load to follow shortly. It’s nice to be able to get it outdoors again - these last few days haven’t been dry enough.

I finally managed to get two of the three hedges trimmed yesterday so the garden looks much improved. DH will help me with the third one at the weekend (weather permitting), as it’s much denser and pricklier than the others and requires a team effort.

I haven’t read any of the posts yet, so will come back later for a catch up, but hope all is well.

Take care everyone.

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 09-Jul-21 10:10:01

Oops my first post went without my permission!! Good to know your cough is 'under wraps' Marydoll
Yesterday we drove to Ripon to give the car a run and get some shopping1. It was market day and we could not find anywhere to park our metal box, so came home - today we will get the bus to Ripon!!
Yesterday had our DGD, she found the face paints I bought, so we were all made up like cats - she did a good job for a 5 year old, sorry, no photos - too incriminating!!
There are lots of lovely photos on today, cant mention them all, but you look very well Elizabeth
Have the best day you can folks.

Jaxjacky Fri 09-Jul-21 09:52:59

??? Elizabeth ?

Auntieflo Fri 09-Jul-21 09:40:15

A quick good morning before I am of to have (another) blood test.
Will read when I return.

Nannagarra Fri 09-Jul-21 09:34:15

X post with you Marydoll. Hope you have a good day.

Marydoll Fri 09-Jul-21 09:25:59

Oh and I meant to say, my GP heard it last week during our phone consultation, as did my consultant, neither are concerned. They know me well.
You are all very kind, thank you lovely people.

Blossoming Fri 09-Jul-21 09:22:36

Good morning all from a cloudy, warm and dry Lancashire. Not much planned for today other than bagging up the last of the charity shop donations and a walk around the marina. Marydoll I hope you find something not too strenuous to do today and the cough settles down a little.

Have a happy Friday everyone, while I was typing this the sun has come out, hope it’s an omen ?

Nannagarra Fri 09-Jul-21 09:21:26

Good morning from the Sefton coast where the sun is shining.
As it was past 2pm when I caught up on Thursday, I thought it better to postpone…
Like Mick I think the PM has taken a gamble; I’ll continue to wear a mask and maintain distance, preferring a more gradual easing of restrictions. In an attempt to avoid confrontation, I’ll also be avoiding indoor spaces which are busy.
I hope Imogen continues to improve Jaxjacky and I've enjoyed reading that you had a thoroughly enjoyable day together. After all you’ve had to deal with recently Susan56 I'm sure your 'therapy session' on the ride to IKEA was exactly what was needed. The specialist seen at your recent appointment Grandmafrench sounds very positive and encouraging; excellent news. What a wonderful scenario involving the camp and flirtatious waiter, grandMattie, which truly warms the cockles of the heart. Talk of bottle-nosed dolphins from brook2704 and of ospreys and wallabies from Esspee is wonderful. Get better soon, muse, and please take care when driving. Well done harrigranDGD. A gold star for that girl, and of course one for Elizabeth1. Happy golden wedding anniversary Gingster and happy belated birthday Blossoming.
Yesterday I was busy with DiL's birthday, a meet up with 6 friends al fresco and an 8 mile bike ride. Today I'm awaiting deliveries of 'Euro clothes' iykwim and have a hair appointment.
Happy 12th birthday wishes for your DGD NannyJan53. I also think you should seek medical advice,*Marydoll*. While having a cough keeps you safe from others, it is not good for you and might be better investigated. Greyduster, have you been bitten by a horse fly? They're nasty things.
Have the best day you can everyone. Stay safe and take care. x

Dogsmakemesmile Fri 09-Jul-21 09:17:55

Good morning from an overcast Scottish Borders. Marydoll do get your cough checked out. Elizabeth1 congratulations on your unaided weightbearing. Apologies I am not sure of your situation healthwise. I can now stand independently but have a very peculiar gait when I walk so use a crutch. May investigate a stick. Nothing planned. Dough rising. Have a good Friday everyone.

EkwaNimitee Fri 09-Jul-21 09:15:29

Good morning, Mick and everyone from a cool, grey Carlisle.
I went into the centre yesterday but only got the essentials done as I found I was more unwell with an oncoming infection than I thought I was. All brought on by minor gardening work. Sofa hunting will wait till another day. I gave in to the problem and tried to get a gardener in to dig out my new borders but do they ever get back to you? Not so far, as usual.
Yesterday evening was also frustrating, I couldn't find the usual TV channels on my new system, that is, ITV or BBC, only rubbish ones. I have 2 remotes but neither would do the business. One of todays tasks, RT*M ! I expect to lay my hands on things and have them work but sometimes you do just have to study the manuals first.
Other tasks are to catch up with boring admin whilst resisting the calls of my latest book and the garden. And there is the excitement of a Tesco delivery later this morning.
That's a lovely scene, Esspee, beautifully caught.
Take care, Marydoll, but I guess you're fed up with having to do that.
The best possible day to all.

Marydoll Fri 09-Jul-21 09:14:01

Don't worry folks. Thanks for the advice and concern, but I have had this cough for over forty years. It just varies in the severity (and noise level). My son has it too. Low Sats and this cough are normal for me, nothing sinister, it has been thoroughly checked out a zillion times over the years. The Cystic Fibrosis gene, my son and I both have, plays a big part in it, as does the high pollen count presently. It's just a damn nuisance, more than anything else.
Rest assured, I know exactly when to seek intervention.

GrannySomerset Fri 09-Jul-21 09:12:25

Awaiting a telephone call to say when the last of our sitting room furniture can be collected for reupholstering - any time today, apparently, which is less than helpful.

DH seems to have been battling demons last night and will have to completely strip and remake his bed. It was all a bit much before 7.00 am but am slowly regaining a sense of perspective though I am really no good with complete illogicality.

Washer on and good drying I think so not all bad. Let’s hope for a crisis free day and a happy one elsewhere. Admiration, Elizabeth, poster girl for the benefits of sticking with the physio, and glad Susan has recovered from yesterday’s upset. And wishing Marydoll a better day.

Lindy56 Fri 09-Jul-21 09:08:05

Morning all from a now sunny Torbay (sorry Ashcombe not up that early am a late riser? Could be showers later though. Usual Friday weekend shop locally. Have a good one everyone.

Doodle Fri 09-Jul-21 09:06:45

Marydoll (yes it is me, I am up early for a change) although, like Susan, I too think you probably know your own symptoms well, I do think the same as Corner and dragonfly a word with the GP might be a good idea. That oximeter reading is concerning. Please take good care of yourself and I hope you improve as the day goes on.

Jax glad you saw Imogen yesterday. Hope the burn is improving too.

Morning all, hope you have a good day.

B9exchange Fri 09-Jul-21 09:03:29

Greetings all from a dull and grey Aberdeen! We drove up yesterday, much better journey than to drive to Edinburgh. It is so cold we have had to put the heating on in our friends' flat, sensitive Southerners that we are. Before leaving our castle hotel yesterday we visited Holyrood Palace, what an astonishing building, even down to the bloodstains on the floor from David Rizzio's murder! Hoping to get to see Donattar Castle this afternoon.

Marydoll if your sats are really that low and stay down, you need checking out, please don't leave it. Hope the rest of you have a happy day, as stress free as possible.

Grandmafrench Fri 09-Jul-21 09:03:06

Oh Elizabeth what a triumph! ? xx

Dwmxwg Fri 09-Jul-21 09:02:26

Our last good morning from a sunny Peak District. We are packed and just about ready to leave. A stop off is planned at Stowe Park, which I noticed is very close to you Mick.

Yesterday’s planned walk on the Chatsworth Estate did happen but not quite to the map. The steps over tall stone walls were an impossible climb for poor Freddie so we retraced our steps and walked through the parkland to the house. Spent some money in the shop and had our picnic by the river.

Wishing all a happy Friday

BlueSapphire Fri 09-Jul-21 09:01:45

Good morning everyone from a bright Northampton where the ? is trying to break through the cloud.

Managed to get all my washing dry yesterday and then had a good evening health walk around our village. Then into the pub with friends for a meal, which I washed down with a lovely glass of Pinot Grigio.

Nothing planned for today except deal with the kitchen freezer which overnight has iced up so badly I cannot open the drawers. I think I mustn't have closed it properly yesterday.

Am awaiting a delivery of Sainsbury's clothing today - decided I needed some new lighter trousers for my holiday, so had a look yesterday at their website and ordered two pairs, plus yet another pair of jeans.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Nannytopsy Fri 09-Jul-21 08:58:59

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Cloudy in Suffolk at the moment but I can see some blue skies! I loved your DGS’s comment Grandmadinosaur. What a sweetie!
Today was an easy one - DH to nurse at 10, my hairdresser at 1.45. Now it’s DH out at 1.30, hairdresser 1.45, gutter repairman at 2.00 and a table being collected for repair sometime in the day!
I nearly finished the new flowerbed yesterday - about 6 more plants to go in this morning. Photo tomorrow!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

hollysteers Fri 09-Jul-21 08:58:46

Good morning Mick and followers from a sunny northwest Lancashire coast.
Out soon taking jumble, even though I have three bin bags full, the house is still like the V&A? We are lucky here with the shop, easy drop off and no fuss (fingers crossed) then to EWM to return trousers so big I look like a clown.
Amazing dream last night with a film star looking man who happened to murder a couple of men near me, but obviously justified and led me through a veritable paradise. Woke up to reality…
Wishing all with worries all the best.

Grandmafrench Fri 09-Jul-21 08:57:57

Good Morning everyone from another hot, blue day in Southern Franceland.

Our trip to the Préfecture in Montpellier went surprisingly well not too much of a problem on the roads and there was a wonderful cool breeze which helped with the necessary mask wearing. The city looked its wonderfully picturesque self and there was even music in some of the squares again. I had no time to spend window shopping, unfortunately. It was necessary to be on time. Saved a coffee stop to a café outside the gates of where we were going. After 10 minutes and no coffee (!) I went and spoke to the waiter telling him where we were due (in 5 minutes) and he produced coffee and a complimentary cookie like a rabbit out of a hat! 3 jolly armed Policemen questioned our arrival, inspected our bags and we were then escorted to a seat by a lady with a clipboard. Bit more sensible than pre-Covid/pre-Brexit, when the building resembled life on a Middle Eastern market day!

Couldn’t see the official at our desk because of steamy glasses, reflection off the plastic screen, couldn’t hear him due to thickness of screen, his mask, baby crying offstage left, and then got slightly giggly trying to read and sign an allegiance (to France under my photograph! ). That’s new.

Whilst waiting for very young English guy to submit his application ahead of us, noticed his name on a hanging tag on his bag. Later googled the (slightly unusual) name to see he was/is the Shropshire Open Water swimmer - Hector Pardoe - now training in Montpellier before the Tokyo Olympics.

It, the paperwork due to us being English, and the UK now being a third country, is a monumental pain. (Jax and Fennel) but I’d never want to live in any country not complying with the rules for residence. Here in France they are ‘paperwork’ mad. I’d hate to think that one day, the tax authorities, Police, social security etc., might spot that I was breaking the rules and give them the chance to interfere with my life plans. ☹️

Telephone calls can be really upsetting, Susan. Hope it’s all calmed down again. You can only, sometimes against impossible odds, do your best.

Lots of you lucky souls away or going away. A definite move towards normality. Sounds like a great trip, Lins, something to lift the spirits! Enjoy yourselves GMers, whatever you’re up to, every moment of it.

Going to pick up behind DH, who is trimming 3 big shrubs outside. He’ll then cut the grass and we’ll go to the dump. Sprinklers then on. Called in to a massive, well-stocked Garden Centre yesterday and bought another Clematis (Tie Dye) there are so many varieties now. Another hole to dig!

I’m attaching photos, of our destination yesterday, including a pot containing my favourite kind of Olive tree outside the Café. My iPad is about to expire and photos are sideways….so sorry.

Have a Fun Friday, peeps. Stay safe! X

Susan56 Fri 09-Jul-21 08:55:07

Elizabeth, lovely photo and wow!I have just shown my husband as I always have to nag him to keep up with his physio. You have done so well?
