Well good moaning (afternoon actually) everyone from sunny (not) Chorley Lancashire! Ditto. Grey drizzle , that fine stuff that gets you wet! But stickily warm.... TV this p.m. having done me inside windows boy were they filthy?! Coolest dullest day for a while so ideal. Netflix/Disney her we come and wondering what will be for tea?

Good morning Mick and all from Cinderella, (trying to scrape in before the chimes of 12) from a wet northwest Lancashire coast.
DD arrived from the south last night and we had Caribbean chicken, slightly over cooked before ‘enduring’ the match. She brought me ginger jam, my favourite and roses from the Windsor Farm Shop, one of my favourite places when I stay with her.
She left the freezer door slightly ajar last night, so I have closed it and keeping fingers crossed…
Hope you all have a good day, there will be a lot of sore heads today.

Good morning*Mick, Annie and all.
Just squeaking in under the wire this morning.
We are waiting in for the engineers? to come and fit my stair lift.
All the parts were delivered earlier, and are clogging up the hallway and the kitchen.
Have done a load of washing and the second lot is whirring away, so I hope it will stay dry.
Have a good day one and all.

Good morning all from the Black country.
The suns come out so we will take a walk round the lake at the local RSPB nature reserve, then to the farm for coffee and pick up some duck food.
Enjoy your day and may you all find some ?

Good morning Mick and all morningsters.
Late rise this morning. Grey Cornish skies but sun is on its way. It’s appearing as I tap away on my phone.

No workmen here today. Phil didn’t want to drive as he was having a few bevvies whilst watching the match. MrM is busy outside. I hear the whacker going as I type.
Just done my stretches and calf is being obliging. Bruises are starting to vanish. Tomorrow I will get the mower out, put it in low gear, high cut, and neaten up some of the grass.
Just made appointments for eyes and teeth. Specsavers have a kit for removal of lenses so no more sore eyes. Email from Audiology at the hospital. They are only doing tests every 3 years now but will do video or telephone advice if any problems.
DS rang yesterday. ?. He starts his new job today and will be flying off to Germany soon , then Finland and Switzerland. Hope all goes well for him.
DD had another migraine yesterday. She’s getting them quite frequently. We will chat later when she has finished work.

Take care Blossoming. Have that rest.

Not read all posts so there may be more later.

Off to check my ???later. Picked first tayberries the other day.

?????⛅️?

Made it before midday! Good morning everyone from a fresh and dry Scottish Borders. Not the weather forecast I heard so a lovely start to the week. Have done a couple of hours of housework or rather moving things from room to room. Have sense of achievement. Listening to Woman's Hour. Hope being discussed. Interesting. References being made to the match last night. I think both sides should be very proud. The racist abuse on social media of the players
who took the penalties was appalling. I hope everyone has a good day.

GrannySomerset Mon 12-Jul-21 10:01:24

iPad has died so am struggling on phone which will enforce brevity. Grey skies to match national mood and nothing planned but will see what the day brings forth.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Maple has our South Yorkshire weather spot on. Soggy! I slept badly last night (no not due to the football result, though that was bad enough) so DH may need a whip and a chair today but I have a pile of ironing to do, so I’ll stay out of his way for a while at least. I should think about making a packing list for our holiday shortly, which I can’t seem to summon up any enthusiasm for at all. It’ll come, I’m sure.
Enjoy the day the best way you can folks.

Blossoming Mon 12-Jul-21 09:34:03

Good morning all from a rainy grey Preston. Not much planned for today, I had a fainting fit when I was on my way into the bathroom this morning and now my shoulder is playing up too. I guess I overdid the lifting, bending and stretching yesterday, so I will have a rest day. Will read through your posts while I drink my morning tea ?

Susan56 Mon 12-Jul-21 09:26:22

Good morning from Staffordshire. Our last early start for six weeks.

My day will be very much like yours Grandmabatty.I had a sleepless night and now looking after a three year old.He stayed up to watch the football so is quietly watching Octonauts at the moment.

So glad you had a cuddle with Dollie yesterday Mary?hope that things settle down and you see more of her over the summer.I love the picture too?

My aim for today is to stay awake! We have to take a gazebo to DD1’s on the way home.DD2 borrowed it for B’s Christening so we will return it to DD1 in readiness for H’s Christening in a few weeks. We will have fish and chips en route then home to bed?

Have a good day all??

Good morning from a wet Morecambe Bay. Two e mails this morning tell me both our testing kit and our Sainsbury’s delivery will arrive this morning. I hope I haven’t forgotten anything! I’ve just had a text to say GD is definitely positive so we can’t go anywhere in public!
I was wakened in the early hours by the smell of smoke. It was obviously coming from outside as I closed the window I could see the smoke in the rain under the streetlamp. A bit irrationally I ran round the house checking everything was ok.
I shall make some new cushion covers this morning, then crack on with my crochet blanket and do a bit of cross stitch.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

EkwaNimitee Mon 12-Jul-21 08:57:33

Good morning, Mick and everyone from a, yet again, cool, grey and showery Carlisle.
There's an extraordinary silence upon the land this morning, even the builders are only just beginning to trickle in. On the pretext of trying to get to grips with my complicated tv set up, I watched the second half of the match last night. Even to this non-football fan, a penalty shoot out is hard to watch. I feel for those poor young men, especially those whose shots failed. What a cruel way to lose.
Today, it's housework and laundry and hopes of mowing the lawns this afternoon if the weather perks up. I got my buddleia planted yesterday and a little more lawn dug out. I'll still be looking for someone to finish that job though.
Wishing all the best possible day.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

GrannyGravy13 Mon 12-Jul-21 08:51:20

Morning Mick and all

Yep it’s grey here in S E Essex, torrential rain overnight. The GC are up and full of beans despite staying up to watch the match. So I need to get a wriggle on as they have requested scrambled eggs for breakfast.

Off to the gym later, then I have to tidy up after our visitors.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Good Morning everyone from an overcast Monday in the South ?? - or maybe it’s just our house? ?
Not a football fan normally (well, shut up then GrandmaFrench, I hear you say!) but I really want to say that the final surge of excitement and expectation and joy at an England final did eventually sweep us both up.

Recently got to know the players’ names, hear them speak, and very impressed that there seemed to be so much more wanting to win for their country - and their lovely Manager - than massive egos and stupidity. It looked as if their magical footwork and speed and real team effort was going to give them the win. Then Italy showed their skills and the play went up and down - hard to guess who would triumph. Nerve-wracking.

Suppose it’s too radical to query that after a hard match, a level score, extra time, injury time, that one shot against a goal-keeper was the best way of settling such an important game. What would be the problem in sharing the trophy, based on the match result? Why the need to come up with a winner, but in such a random way? It could just as easily have been any silly test…..not based on playing skills at all. I understand that this is how it’s done, but I can’t see how it does justice to the efforts of both teams at the end of a contest. They’re a team, surely, so it’s a team thing, not an illustration of how one person has to take the blame for one missed shot. Crazy, to me.

Anyway, 5 minutes before the end of extra time, enough fireworks went off at a display just along the coast (a normal holiday event here) to make us think great things had been foretold! Surprised you didn’t hear the noise in the UK. The fireworks ended, the match ended but the football gods were clearly not happy, because thunderclaps and torrential rain then followed. I raced around the garden in the thunder (with my currently well behaved ankle) and gathered all cushions, rugs, etc., and got them put away before the rain. Keep this up and I’ll maybe try out for the next England team. Mr Southgate looks like someone who’d be kind to Grannies! Watch this space……

Doing some painting today, ironing, making Clinic appointments and bathing dogs. (They are possibly hoping we’ve forgotten them! ). Then they and 2 cats have to have their tick and flea treatment. Doesn’t take long but has to be organised like a military operation…..with those cats, we get just one chance (a sort of feline penalty shoot out?)

Have a really good Monday, folks. Sorry you’ve felt unwell, dragon - maybe take it easy until you’re on top form again.

Keep safe all, stay positive and make each day count.
Hugs from me and France ??‍♀️???‍♀️???‍♀️?

Good morning all from a grey S Hants, it poured during the night, more due later.
All that anticipation, losing on penalties was a disappointing end.
Voluntary work this afternoon/evening and I must rebook my dental appointment.
Those either on, or going on holiday, have a marvellous time all of you, it’s cheering to read.
Have a good Monday x

Grandmadinosaur Mon 12-Jul-21 08:25:18

Good morning from a grey, drizzly East Yorkshire.
I feel like the weather after yesterday’s sporting events with neither the tennis or football going the way I hoped. Credit to the losers though. Both Berrettini and England put up a good fight. We went to ds for a bbq to see the football and on our way home have to pass an Italian cafe/restaurant and it was surprisingly quiet with just a handful of people there. I suspect though they will be open much later today with sore heads!
Today for me it’s a catch up with a few jobs, calls to cath up on , collect prescriptions and go to the butchers to stock up.
Wishing everyone a good day. Take care all.

Mapleleaf Mon 12-Jul-21 08:20:54

Good morning from a grey, wet South Yorkshire. It doesn't look very promising for the rest of the day, either. Still it looks more promising towards the end of the week.

We got the front hedge cut yesterday, so it looks much improved, though with all this wet weather coupled with warmish temperatures, it will no doubt put on another growth spurt, rather like the grass. This particular hedge is a Heinz 57 varieties hedge with various different types in it, including Hawthorne, ivy and wild rose, so it is quite vigorous and thick. Looks lovely once it's trimmed though, but we almost need armour plating on when tackling it as some of the thorns on it are lethal. ?

Ironing to do today, then who knows?

Lins1066 Mon 12-Jul-21 08:18:16

Good morning all, a wet start here on the S Welsh coast.
Ironing and other chores on the agenda today.
I read 'Olive Kitteridge' with our Book Club Gingster and enjoyed it. It has been serialized on TV too.
Hope all those lucky enough to be on holiday have a lovely time.
Wishing all of us a day day.

harrigran Mon 12-Jul-21 08:16:57

Good morning from an overcast NE.
Poor night as I had tummy ache, I guess I will be tired today.
DD brought shopping, everything from my list so I am stocked up.
DS and family are on holiday, more cultural than yomping this time, among the dreaming spires.
I must do some washing today and I will get it ironed this afternoon, an exciting day for me,
Saw one small clip of the football when I took DH a cup of tea, it was the Italian player grabbing the back of an English player's shirt and pulling him over. I hope he was reprimanded for his behaviour, not nice.
Have a good day.

B9exchange Mon 12-Jul-21 08:15:46

Morning all, still in Aberdeen but leaving today for Dornoch, and to look around Golspie where my uncle was a Church if Scotland minister for 16 years. Hoping to find the apple tree with his name on.

I am not a football fanatic, but I was so proud of the England team last night, they have all played their hearts out, and behaved so well on and off the pitch.

Hope everyone's Monday brings a little joy, good luck with the dentist Ash, the first appointment we can get is next March!

‘Morning All from a clammy overcast Glasgow.
According to the Met office we have sun/clouds at the moment so I’ll just have to pretend they are correct.
I wish I had air conditioning at least in the bedroom. For the first 14 years of married life we were in the tropics and the central air conditioning was set at 21C. That may explain why my body cannot cope with high temperatures, especially at night. I haven’t slept particularly well for the past week due to the heat.
Incidentally our electricity bills for cooling our house were much the same as heating our home in Glasgow.
Today we have nothing planned. Pre Covid we rarely had a day free, there was always something going on. I think I’ll do some batch cooking of meals that improve with age such as chilli, curry, or chorizo vegetable stew. We always try to use the slow cooker when possible as we have free electricity during daylight hours. Whatever I cook you can be sure it will involve mange tout which we have an abundance of ATM.
Have a good day everyone.

I had a friend in Rothesay (might still be there), last visited her about 20 years ago, but My address book went missing so lost touch. Found it a few years later in one of DH’s piles!!
Rothesay was a favourite destination for school trips, we often went on The Waverley - never giving it thought of how historic this ship would become!

Good morning from a happy household here on the east coast of Fife. We’ve all had a lovely lie in and I’m fortunate enough to still be in bed.

I’ve no idea what the weathers like out there but I do know we slept with the fan on again it must’ve been another warm night.today’s a rest day after all our gallivanting these past few days. I went to see my dear sil in her care home yesterday sadly she wasn’t interested in any of my photos not like last time she just sat in her comfy chair humming to herself. This dementia disease is awful. It’s getting worse by the look of things too. Sent an email to the care home thanking them for their care to her I was listening to the staff interacting so gently with others too. I’m pleased to say my flow test was negative otherwise I wouldn’t have got in.

Keep safe everyone have a happy week we’re getting there slow but sure smile

Nannagarra Mon 12-Jul-21 08:03:49

Good morning from the Sefton coast where the weather has saved me the job of watering the garden.
Catching up and washing bedding are on my agenda today.
Sending a wave and a smile to everyone.
