Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry at the moment here in Brackley but cloudy , so will see what weather will be like later .
Today, my usual trip out to Bicester , I have also been busy selecting some future coach trips.
By what I gather the day trips are taking off with full coaches on some destinations .
Could be a sign as more people are not going elsewhere outside UK due to other countries restrictions that are still going.
My sister and husband would like to visit my niece in Canada ,but are unable to that countries restrictions.
Take Care,
Mick

It’s a bit late in the day to post I know, having just caught up after a shopping trip to our local centre where it was 50:50 to wearing masks or not. I just wanted to say what a lovely post from Oldudders, it brought tears to my eyes! I hope his back pain eases soon and he can reunite with*Ash*. Have a good day if you can everyone.

Grandmajean Thu 12-Aug-21 12:36:51

Grandmafrench maybe I shouldn't tell you this but I once turned around from a planned shopping trip because the road split with one lane saying "Warrington North" and the other "Warrington South" and I had no idea which I wanted !

Lululemon Thu 12-Aug-21 12:28:51

I'm a bit late in the day but here goes. It's sunny in Crewe and I am just about to start a shift with Samaritans.

Grannmarie Thu 12-Aug-21 12:08:06

Good morning, Michael and all! Well it was still morning when I started posting!?

I'm packing for a wee trip to Skye, hoping for better weather than we've had recently in North Lanarkshire.

So glad to read that Baby A is progressing well, Marydoll , and that Scentia's family are beginning to improve.

Enjoy your break this afternoon, GrannySomerset, it'll do you a power of good.

I hope things improve soon for Kitty's brother and Ash's DH

Thinking of those with illness or worries.
Sending love and prayers to all who need/wish them.???

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Suet on Sea, Lancashire coast, just scraping in by the skin of my teeth.
At the moment am planting the babies offered by my spider plant in little pots, which I give away to people. Some take some don’t and the mother plant has just died as I think I have been overwatering her…
My daughter leaves for the south today after being here since Sunday and has organised so many things for me, techy stuff etc, she’s a blessing. Son at a wedding in Germany.
Just spilt glue after an attempt to put foil in a necklace which has lost one stone, it’s for the stage and ‘usually’ works out well.
Try again later.
Yes Mick, go on as many trips as you can, think of our long winters. I have two lined up and can’t wait.
Thoughts to harrigran scentia olddudders (I have low back pain, it’s a b****r), to the sick and the well.

Auntieflo Thu 12-Aug-21 11:48:32

Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
Just sneaking in under the wire.
DS2 and family are arriving soon, bringing food,. Bless them.
I have put a cake in to bake, and we are having a coffee, before the storm that is GS no 7.
No, that's not right, as he was a pleasure to have here on the last visit.
What a lovely message from OldDudders. Please get well soon.
Hoping that GrandmaSomerset is having a better day today, and that all with aches, pains, or troubles, feel better soon.
Have a good day one and all.

Pittcity Thu 12-Aug-21 11:46:41

madeleine45 you can still watch TV via iPlayer, ITVhub etc on a smart TV, computer, tablet. We had to do that when he first moved in as the house had no aerial.

Marydoll Thu 12-Aug-21 11:26:43

Party, I'm on Tocilizamubab, which is being used to treat Covid ICU patients. That's why there is a global shortage. I inject weekly and instead of every eight weeks for deliveries, it will be now be four weekl I too thank God for the good old NHS.

olddudders Thu 12-Aug-21 10:54:44

I never cease to be amazed at the warmth on offer here. Lots of people, mainly ladies, who will never meet me, or DW*Ashcombe*, stepping up to offer thoughts and indeed prayers. My screen positively glows with your support, thankyou.

I have been the beneficiary of such support on a very different forum, one for model railways, when my late first wife was suddenly in the final stages of cancer. When she died, here I was alone in a foreign country, where she had had a much better command of the language and hence had always done most of the admin needed for strangers overseas. The outpouring from a great number of men I will never meet was astonishing and lifted me, as you GN people are doing now, thankyou!

It ought to be said that DW Ashcombe, then just a former schoolfriend with whom I had been in touch via Friends Reunited, also offered substantial personal support at the time. Is it any wonder that when the time was right, I married her?

Good Morning everyone from a glorious day in the South of France.

This morning we sneaked out before the sun was up and had a good walk near the river when it was only 23 degrees. Water was like glass and no one about except the odd sea bird, small duck and mosquitoes. How I hate them. How I hate the repellant and the smell and the extra work they create. If a small Pipistrelle bat can catch 1,000 or so per night, they clearly need to up their game a bit......far too many of the critters out and about and living the life!!

I decided that there is nothing like sitting on a little stool in front of the bidet, removing my trainers and just letting the cold, soapy water run over my feet. Bliss! See how easily pleased I am. Pottering around in sandals and on sandy surfaces every day makes one appreciate cold water on bare skin.

I've been extending invitations for coffee, and lunches and teas this morning, to catch up with friends. They keep suggesting meals out - in August, in Restaurants that are rammed with tourists (and since I still maintain that the French don't own tape measures I'm not optimistic about any proper distancing
being in place). So.....no thank you. I must be the only one in the supermarket who waits at the checkout with my trolley behind me because it stops people literally breathing over my shoulder!!!!? A friend of mine is super-naughty and deals with this by doing a lot of coughing behind her mask. She reckons she can almost empty an area instantly! Holidays seem to remove people's common sense completely here!

Your poor DH, Ash - but at least he is actually doing something about the problem! Fingers crossed. Hoping hard that your DB, kitty will receive some positive treatment soon.
Blue feel better and more comfortable soon - sounds as if your cats would make perfect playmates for B9's naughty chaps! If Mr M is on call for all site drama, muse good plan to confine him to bed when it's possible. It's amazing how our chaps will sneak off to lord know's where, when they're left unsupervised.....(ooh, I sound just like Nora Batty!)

Stick to that plan, GrannyS, your bit of you time is so important. He's not going to play up, you'll see, so set off in high spirits and enjoy your bit of peace!

Grandmajean "Quick post as slept late" - as if!!!!! You've just got in from finding/picking up your DG, haven't you. Bet you're in lots of trouble. ?

Well, I'm riding shotgun for a long-distance dental visit today. Poor Mr French is the one in the chair! I shall take a magazine and relax in the opposite corner of the room and catch the calming thoughts that our gentle, Zen dentist sends my way.

Have a gentle day yourselves, dear GM'ers, and if you're having hard times take care of yourselves as well as others.
Hugs and waves and every good wish from the sunny South.
And stay safe.....
??‍♀️?

Good morning from a warm, breezy Durham. Felt under the weather for a few days and woken with a chesty cough to kill a horse - so that could explain why.
Carless again today - timing belt replaced, but car need new front brake discs and pads, probably damaged when I hit a pothole recently and wrecked 2 tyres. The garage has warned it won’t be cheap?!
Not the end of the World though in the great scheme of things. Take care all. X

Oldbutstilluseful Thu 12-Aug-21 10:17:23

For you, Ash, I hope your husband is out of pain very soon and that you will be reunited before too long.
Thoughts and best wishes to all on here who are suffering or have loved ones struggling

Party4 Thu 12-Aug-21 10:16:52

MARYDOLL I did wonder reading previous posts if we had similar medication. One of mine is injected every 14 days and consists of adalimumab(trade name has changed a few times)I also read a form was being used to treat Covid patients. Not wishing to sound selfish as in "I'm alright Jack" but had my 6 treatment delivery this week.Had to retire on ill health and was in threat of losing my sight.I am eternally grateful to the NHS.

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 12-Aug-21 09:55:09

Good morning to everyone and especially those with worries and/or ill health in the family. It's a bright and cool start here in the Scottish Borders. Waiting for Woman's Hour to come on. Rye bread in oven. Two washes done. Reading a book of diary excerpts written in the months directly after the ending of WWII. I hadn't realised that rations became stricter initially. So much I don't know. Take care.

Blossoming Thu 12-Aug-21 09:43:40

Good morning all from a currently sunny Lancashire. I hope your poor DH will be treated soon Ashcombe, such a worry for you. We are going out for a coastal walk today so will catch up with everyone’s posts later.

muse Thu 12-Aug-21 09:16:21

Good Morning Mick and Morningsters. Grey but dry mid Cornwall.
Quick scan through your posts but no notebook handy. I'll do a good catch up closer to lunch.

I'm covering MrM's duties this morning whilst trying to keep him in bed. Tea and paracetamols have been taken up to him. At 7:00pm yesterday, he found our water tank was not filling. So the fault had to be found which would be somewhere between the stream and the water tower. Small perished washer was to blame. Repair done, he was in bed at 1:30am this morning resting his bad leg.

Our news last night was full of record numbers of visitors to Cornwall this year. Covid cases are rising in quite a few places. I am getting very anxious again about get out and about. Hopes dashed of meals out. I shall do one trip I'd planned to a garden later this month but that's it. DD has moved her visit to us to late September.

My sympathies for those with restless nights. Most of my nights are intermittent bouts of sleep Marydoll and grandMattie. Lie ins have become essential for me to get through the day.
Picked my first bunch of gladioli the other day GrandMattie. They are very majestic flowers.
?Thoughts are with you Scentia
Ashcombe, sorry to hear DH having to go to A&E. Hope he is more comfortable this morning and hears soon about the scan.

It's now 9:00 and I have urgent build calls to make.

More later, hopefully. Take care everyone.

Mapleleaf Thu 12-Aug-21 09:10:37

Good morning,

It’s a beautiful start to the day here in South Yorkshire and is forecast to remain for today, but all change tomorrow all ready for the weekend!

I haven’t read all the posts yet but did see that olddudders had to go to hospital yesterday, so hope he’s feeling much better today, Ash - it must be such a worry for you.

To all with troubles, sadness or feeling unwell, I hope today brings you some comfort. ?

Must dash as I’m getting ready for my Pilates class and have some washing to peg out first.

Take care everyone.

madeleine45 Thu 12-Aug-21 09:00:52

good morning to you all from a sunny but slightly chilly north yorks. Definitely a feel of autumn about with dew on the grass. I do love autumn but feel we havent had much of a summer so was trying to ignore it before. Well nice to talk of something good, yesterday I went for my first swim since the covid situation started. Swimming is definitely the best exercise I can do with my back and it was great to be in the water. They have a hoist to get me in and out, which was working hurray. It was lovely to see old faces and people I havent seen for a long time. Only did 10 lengths and carefully, to get going after all this time. Am paying for it physically a bit today but no matter. Mentally brilliant and positive, and so have actually sorted some electricity things out I have put off and been out and watered the garden as it is set to be warm this morning. Lots of weeds and things need doing there but cant manage to bend down or do much at the moment, maybe later in the day or tomorrow. At least it is a start. As a teacher this always feels like the start to the year even though I have long retired but it does help me to get into the "do it "mode. So today I am celebrating the swim by going for a pub lunch with my friend Rita. So that will motivate me to get cracking on doing the jobs. We have no tv at the moment as the Bilsdale aerial went on fire and dont know when it will be mended. Not that it matters too much, as long as I can have radio 3 music and radio 4, but typical after all the long sport stuff I had hoped for a decent play or two to watch and the proms. Ah well wont end on a down beat. I do hope you all have a decent day and it is good to read everyones news.

Jaxjacky Thu 12-Aug-21 08:59:18

Why does it do that??

Jaxjacky Thu 12-Aug-21 08:58:55

Good morning from a cloudy S Hants, slept late for me. gM lots of tomatoes lost around here with the dreaded blight.
Ash hope oldudders recovers soon, you are the thwarted lovers.
8 weeks is a long time kitty, fingers crossed his op is soon.
Scentia your family appear to be reasonably ok, good news.
I had my voluntary coordinating day yesterday, busy, then cricket in the evening, most enjoyable. I’ll post a picture and hope it doesn’t come out sideways again, v annoying.
Have a pleasant day all.

GrannySomerset Thu 12-Aug-21 08:54:22

Feeling a little fragile after a disturbed night but carer due this afternoon so a brief respite is in view. DH not keen as he can’t understand why it is necessary and may be a bit uncooperative but I am paying a lot for my three hours of freedom so will ignore this.

Sympathy to olddudders and the Scentia family and all those worried or sad. Hope for the best day possible for all of us.

Grammaretto Thu 12-Aug-21 08:44:28

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where the sun is up!
I am going to choose a new stair carpet today. We have so few proper shops left in our little town but there is still one which deals in household things such as furnishings. They have a sale on too and I want to support them partly for ulterior motives as the garden out the back of the shop is used as an allotment by my friends and if the shop has to close access will be lost. With IKEA just 20 minutes drive away, it's probably a losing battle.

Oh dear Ash can you not just dash over to be with him? There's no longer quarantining. My df is off to France this w/end for 10 days to visit her friend who lives there alone.
She has to have a certificate of vaccination but that's available from the NHS website and the French want you to have their
passeport vaccinal for restaurants and tourist attractions.

That is so disappointing Marydoll to have to miss the wedding but lovely news that the baby is recovering.

Good news from you Scentia it sounds as if they are on the mend.

Thoughts are with all those with worries and pain. Kitty for your brother.flowers

Alizarin Thu 12-Aug-21 08:43:51

Good morning from a cloudy, damp south Cornwall. The Red Arrows were cancelled yesterday due to low cloud.

Had a text from my daughter who apparently was in MacDonald's at 4.30 a.m. She's come off some medication and can't sleep. Sounds like she was having fun though. She does make me laugh. She's blind and even as a baby and toddler loved the night. Her husband is away for a few days so she booked into a city centre hotel for the adventure.

Have the best day you can everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 12-Aug-21 08:42:40

Morning Mick and all

Another warm day is forecast for S E Essex.

Still busy in Gravy Grange our quarantining eldest and wife had their first PCR test results back and they are negative, which is a relief.

Sorry to hear of oldDudders A & E trip Ashcombe , kittylester hoping your DB is ok.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

BlueSapphire Thu 12-Aug-21 08:36:05

Good morning from a very bright and sunny ? Northampton; the bedding is in the washing machine and should dry nicely.

Awaiting a Sainsbury's delivery in about an hour, then it will be clean sheets on the bed, and this afternoon cut the back grass.

Had a good day yesterday; dosed myself up with ibuprofen and hardly noticed my aches and pains from my tumble on Tuesday. Did not sleep well though, as it's difficult to find a pain-free position. Had a nice afternoon with my friend at our activity club and we then went round looking at kitchen showrooms. Made me think about getting mine done!

Got back home and noticed a neighbour out trimming her shrubs, so went over for a chat, and was still there nearly an hour later! A much needed gossip!

Fell asleep in front of the tv last night and woke up to find that the cats had had a high old time with my knitting wool! They hadn't attacked the actual knitting, though, but must have chased the ball of wool several times around the room! It was all over the carpet, draped over chairs and twirled around a lamp! Took me ages to rewind it and sort out all the tangles.

Wishes to all not feeling 100% today; may you soon feel better.

Hope your other half feels better soon, Ash.
