Back with you soon. smile

Ahem! I received a pm from Grandmafrench wishing me well with the phone call. Would you believe that for a brief moment I though...what phone call? Thank you for all your good wishes. You are kind.

The phone call came about ten minutes ago. I am coming off Letrozole and going to be taking Exemestane for the next three years. Do any Kitcheners have knowledge of this medication? I Googled side-effects. A bad idea! I trust the consultant's advice. She will phone in six months to talk about any problems (or not) that may ensue.

Dear corner and dragonfly special thoughts and virtual hugs.

N&G Message for our Sam - please get well real soon.

Grannmarie Thu 09-Sept-21 12:01:53

Fingers crossed ?for your phone call, Soop.

Hope you feel better soon, Grandmabatty.

Thinking of those with operations/procedures, hoping all goes well.

Thinking especially of those with sorrow, sending love and prayers to those who need/ wish them.???

A hard day for lots indeed. I had dinner with friends last night and it was such a nice catch up. The meals were, at best, satisfactory and over priced. However we have organised another catch up in a month somewhere else. I then didn't sleep well as my nose was either blocked or running ?. The weather is wet and muggy so I'm being very lazy today. I might even go back to bed.

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 09-Sept-21 10:32:47

Best wishes to everyone for who it is a difficult day. Heavy rain here which is great for the garden. It was parched and looked a bit desperate. Curry made for tea . No yeast so feeling somewhat thwarted in baking department

Yiayia4 Thu 09-Sept-21 09:11:37

Thinking of you today Soop hope your telephone consultation goes well.?

Lins1066 Thu 09-Sept-21 00:16:25

Just dropping in to wish * corner, soop and dragonfly * all the best for their various procedures. I always read everyone's news but haven't posted lately.
Lovely to see * Carillion * on here a few days ago, I remember you well and seem to remember a delicious French style Tomato Tart recipe you shared with us a couple of years ago.
Our son loved bats * soop *, as a boy he joined a Bat Watch at the local Nature Reserve. Well done for saving the bat.

Hellogirl1 Wed 08-Sept-21 22:58:19

Good for you for saving the bat Soop. I love standing out at the front of our house on summer evenings, watching them swoop around, and marvelling that they never seem to crash.

Urmstongran Wed 08-Sept-21 21:08:56

You’ve had a grand few days brook but you’ll be sad tomorrow at those school gates.

Urmstongran Wed 08-Sept-21 21:06:06

‘Evening All’.

A sad day from the GM thread. I kept thinking about the tragedy today.

It was hot earlier today, I had two friends for lunch that made me laugh Jax - my first thought was ‘were they chewy?’.

Well my news ... we have decided to extend our stay here by 8 days. We then will total 89 days this visit and cannot come back out until next year. We discussed it today on the beach (as you do!) and decided that with all the Covid malarkey required for travelling right now, we didn’t really fancy doing it all again in November just for an 8 day stay! So woohoo!
? ⛱??

cornergran Wed 08-Sept-21 21:01:36

Thank you for the positive wishes everyone. Much appreciated. Today’s excitement was a call from a friend to wish me well who then proceeded to tell me how what sounded to be half her town had a knee procedure that ended badly. I did see the funny side but you know I do wonder about folk sometimes.

Hope for positive outcomes for soop and dragonfly. It’s all happening with us Kitchen folk.

I’ll check in when I can. Take care everyone.

TillyTrotter Wed 08-Sept-21 20:12:12

Sending kindly wishes to you soop and a gentle hug as you await that call. ?

Jaxjacky Wed 08-Sept-21 19:59:00

dragonfly46, I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow too, with cornergran and soop what trials, we had no idea in years gone by did we. soop you’re now Batwoman, Blossoming you are the Robin equivalent, ok? x
An unsettling day across parts of GN today Yia I agree, I too miss muse and Grandmafrench posting, I’m sure they have their reasons.
It was hot earlier today, I had two friends for lunch, a glorious three hours spent munching and chatting in the garden, we have a bit of rain now, hoping for more overnight. The garden is being mulched tomorrow while I visit the library and vape shop, MrJ is now nearly 5 weeks vaping, rather than smoking, I’m quietly pleased.
Anyway, football to watch. Have a gentle evening all you wonderful lot x

Blossoming Wed 08-Sept-21 19:00:40

Good luck for tomorrow’s phone call Soop. I have a Kintyre bat story too! We once rented a cottage on the shore of Loch Fyne and got up one morning to find a slightly damp bat sat in the kitchen sink looking mournfully at us. Mr. B picked him up with kitchen towel and left him on the draining board for a short while, then we placed him on the branch of a tree just outside. He sat there warming up for a while, then shook his wings out and flew off.

Goodnight lovely Kitcheners, TOYA.

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 08-Sept-21 18:09:14

Soop - you are amazing.

Yiayia4 Wed 08-Sept-21 17:41:26

Good luck for tomorrow Cornergran and DragonFly.
Missing posts from Cornwall and France.?

brook2704 Wed 08-Sept-21 17:40:54

Another beautiful sunny day here in Cambridge, my last day before I fly home to Inverness tomorrow. Youngest DGS starts school in the morning so I’ll see both DGSs into school and then start my journey home.
Thinking of Corner, dragonfly and soop tomorrow with various medical matters and hope all goes well

soop Wed 08-Sept-21 17:16:14

Dogsmakemesmile, So sorry to hear that you have also had a sad day. A gentle arm around your shoulder. smile

NanaandGrampy Wed 08-Sept-21 17:14:55

Afternoon all, from the big sky county which is proper toasty right now :-)

Soop you are batty - I shall say no more :-)

Belated Happy Anniversary Urms it sounds like you had a wonderful day.

Good luck with your op Corner ! Hope all goes well.

Young Sam is having no luck in 2021 , after his huge frankenstein neck op we swore never again but the dopey dog has trodden on something embedded so far in his front pad an op to get it out and biopsy it is our only option. You can imagine how thrilled we all are :-(

He is currently snoozing on the sofa next to me with no idea what his future holds...oh to be a dog eh?

soop Wed 08-Sept-21 17:14:32

Grandmabatty It has been a very warm and sunny day on the west coast of Scotland.
Enjoy your evening treat with friends.
The ladies who have adopted Benjy say that he is settling in very nicely. The stable is roomy and dry with plenty of hidey holes. Other bats appear to like the area, especially at dusk.

dragonfly It upsets me to hear that you have had a "strange and sad day".
Please do update us tomorrow.
I have that phone call to wait in for tomorrow afternoon. The one that I expected on Tuesday with the cancer consultant.

All my best wishes to our lovely band of Kitcheners. I shall awy to do useful stuff aboot the hoos. Can't think why. wink smile moon

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 08-Sept-21 17:06:17

I came on much earlier having read very sad news on another thread and did not feel able to write anything on here.
It's a beautiful day here. Spent the last two days looking after my grandchild. She is joy epitomised.
Thank you kitcheners for being there. This is such a soothing thread.

dragonfly46 Wed 08-Sept-21 16:45:05

What a kind and thoughtful person you are soop. That bat is lucky to have met you!

Strange and sad day today. I will come back tomorrow after my echo. I hope they give me the results.

Good luck tomorrow Corner.

Grandmabatty Wed 08-Sept-21 16:10:03

Soop I love bats. I have seen an occasional one in my new garden. At my last house there was a family of bats each year and they were thrilling to watch. I hope Benjy recovers.

Grandmabatty Wed 08-Sept-21 16:08:15

I am meeting friends for dinner tonight and I'm really looking forward to it. The weather in central Scotland is glorious today. It is the last fling of summer, I expect but I'm making the most by doing nothing this afternoon. I visited mum this morning and my dearest friend for coffee. I have picked up a cold from the boy wonder so I'm taking things easy. Have a lovely evening all.

soop Wed 08-Sept-21 16:01:23

We were about to start our daily walk mid morning and happened across what we thought was a bird in the middle of the pavement. It was in fact a stranded bat. I picked it up and gently wrapped it in kitchen towel that I use when using my arm crutch. We met two ladies who rescue and re-home all creatures great and small - (including battery hens due for slaughter). They took "Benjy bat" back to their cottage. They gave him a safe home in an unused stable. We then learned that they had already housed another bat, also discovered stranded by another villager. It was in very good shape and had a beautiful glossy coat.
