Itchy scalp with tiny tiny lumps

Have you tried T gel? DH used to find it one of the few which didn’t irritate his scalp.
Might there also be a connection with your hair colour perhaps reacting to your meds?

Yes, Neurogena T Gel is excellent. I've used it over many years. But now I use Body Shop, Ginger Anti Dandruff Shampoo It is so gentle on my hair and scalp. I am so pleased with it. It's available online from the Body Shop. £9.00. If it seems expensive, it's not, in the long run. Lasts for ages. Hope your problem will soon be resolved.

I have itchy patches that come and go but drive me insane when they are bad I’ve tried every cream shampoo etc that you can buy nothing worked then my daughter who also has itchy patches recommended Eucerin scalp treatment balm and it works to calm the itching really well. I still get the dry patches but at least I can control the itches. I buy it from Amazon it’s about £9 but lasts quite a while.

I’d recommend that you stop using shampoo at all and switch to conditioner-only washing. It cleared up my itchy scalp very quickly.

Perhaps baby shampoo ?

Have you changed hair dye? I was allergic to a new brand I used at home, I was lazy and didn't do a patch test first. The itching and burning was intense.

Whilst waiting for your shampoo to arrive, taking an anti histamine will help.

I also like T Gel. Although an anti itch dandruff shampoo might help. Just make sure it isn't a 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner.

I thought I had nits, went into chemist. Pharmacist looked at my head and hair. Said no nits but shampoo has chemicals in that can irritate the scalp. He sold me baby shampoo, and it cured the issue

Good point User7777, avoiding shampoos containing sulphates is always of benefit.

Nizoral shampoo. I used it when my son developed eczema on his scalp. It worked wonders.

I find baby shampoo or Boots Expert Sensitive Shampoo, its meant to soothe a dry and itchy scalp, there's a conditioner too. It works for me and is not expensive.

Could it be the hair dye? I have the same problem which started when my hairdresser went mobile/ self employed, she says that the hair colour is the same brand, but I’m not so sure. If it continues I might have to back to the Salon as I was fine there. I’ll be interested in how you get on.

I haven`t tried it yet, but my daughter has suggested Tea Tree shampoo.

Hi. I’ve cracked this itchy scalp problem that has been going on for a year. I’ve tried every hair product under the sun but nothing completely cured the problem. Really itchy head with lumps in my scalp. Head felt gritty, swollen, sticky substance near my scalp and I can only describe as crusty. I had little black flakes coming from my scalp. Tried non sulphate shampoos that didn’t work. I steam cleaned my scalp with a Karcher steamer that helped. Then I realised nothing was completely curing the issue. I then took Evening Primrose Oil - OMG this issue melted away within a few hours. The lumps subsided, the grittiness is disappearing. What an amazing product. I’ve just ordered a year’s supply. Also take Vitamin D as most people have low levels & it’s very important. I had to post this to help people going through the same issue. Good luck. X

Tea tree shampoo worked with a scalp rash I had.

I’ve had this for years and tried so many different shampoos. Some seem to help for a while and then it comes back.Can also be caused by setting mousses etc. At the moment I’m using Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Serum and their shampoo. Also I read not to use very hot water when washing your hair. It is such an annoying condition. Even thinking of it can make my scalp itch!

He tried a range of shampoos and even had something on prescription from the doctor, which helped a little. He started using Nizoral shampoo two months ago and still has a clear scalp with no little lumps.
