Changing meal times

We were trying to book lunch in a hotel recently but most of the tables were booked up from 12.30 onwards for afternoon tea. Surely 3.30 to about 5.00 is the normal time for this meal?

Likewise I have héard people talk about going for brunch at 1 or 2 in the day. Surely that's lunch?

For me, afternoon tea is anytime between 2-4, ideally between 2.30-3.30. I think of brunch as a late breakfast/early lunch, generally between 10-11 start.

I think Brunch can be served from 11am to 3pm - yeah, I think it's weird too.
