Praise of NHS

I have two hearing aids, both from the NHS, one 'normal' one and one BAHA one. I can't see why I should pay thousands when these two work very well.

We attended audiology in our GP practice and were told that NHS hearing aids would not help my mother at all. We purchased very expensive ones. They do work but also, I do wonder.

I have just read that dancer, Rose Ayling-Ellis has turned down deals from hearing aid manufacturers saying that she has NHS hearing aids all her life. Well done Rose, I too , am profoundly deaf and cannot praise my NHS Audiologist enough. So many friends and relatives have paid thousands of pounds and still can’t hear.
