My get-up-and-go has gone ?

Wanted:
Missing, get-up-and-go
If anybody has it can they please send me some?
Is it the dull, damp morning? Too much food over Christmas?
“End of a cr*p year” syndrome?
Whatever, I am finding it hard to stay vertical, can feel no motivation whatsoever for the (few) tasks I had hoped to achieve before the end of the year, and just want to curl up and hibernate.
Move over Rosie

Found you Blossoming? Thank you again.
Gorgeous flowers for me Tilly. I'll put them with your lovely card.
Thank you for your messages too GG13 , Aveline and Grandmadinosaur*.?

Looking forward to saying virtual cheers to everyone tonight.?

Good luck in finding some 'get-up-and-go' for 2022.

I too feel tired and lacking in motivation. I am also eating too much and not exercising enough. I feel a bit low in my mood too. I shouldn't feel like this - seen 2 of our children over Xmas and spoken to the 3 abroad. The weather diesnt help and the news bulletins are all miserable. I need a kickstart to get going again!

we`ve been institutionalized by never ending covid negativity and lockdown, it has ground us down to a cannot be bothered state

I am just so tired. I was full of energy over Christmas visiting all my family but now I just want to curl up and hibernate till spring.

Pammie1 Thu 30-Dec-21 16:51:45

Same here - my enthusiasm for the season is waning. Time for another nap.

Aveline Thu 30-Dec-21 16:49:16

I forced myself to go for a walk (to appease my Fitbit) and although it was only 2pm the light was so dim I kept wanting to turn up the brightness like I do on my Kindle or phone. Glad to come home and slump into intertia.

You are right GillT the damp dreary weather is not helping. I know if don’t manage to see a patch of blue sky and abit of sun - at least every few days- then I get miserable and mopey.

Yesterday I was able to get into woodland to watch a sunset, that reset my mojo.

GillT57 Thu 30-Dec-21 16:33:04

I think the damp, dreary weather isn't helping. Also, this time of year we used to spend time talking about, planning, often actually booking holidays, looking forward to a bit of sun as we often went away in February. This year, there is nothing of that, just the long drag into spring.

nadateturbe Thu 30-Dec-21 16:27:40

Mine has gone too. The dark days don't help. I am going through the motions each day, waiting for some enthusiasm to return.

LadyGaGa Thu 30-Dec-21 16:18:49

Ditto. All gone. If I get dressed and showered before lunch it’s a Christmas miracle. Getting very anti social too. It’s lovely to see family but they always seem to hang about a bit too long and want feeding too much ? There was a time when I would feel miffed if I didn’t go out for New Year. But looking forward to Jules Holland and a nice kip! Pass the chocolates……

Me too this morning. Lazing in my pit with absolutely no wish to pull the curtains or roll back the covers because basically I'm bored. So without much attention began scrolling through various GN posts when it struck me - How Dare I Wallow. When there are so many brought down with illness, depression, relationship and family problems, estrangement and financial worries. How many would love to have a day of boredom and peace, in a quiet, well ordered trouble free life in good health and mobility. Modest but comfy home, nothing to complain about. So off with the covers and a 2 hour walk, keeping all of you with troubles much in my thoughts and wishing for you all resolutions to your worries. Now to draw up a list of things to do tomorrow and set the alarm smile

What a relief to see this thread yes you've guessed it, my get up and go has gone too which is why I'm typing this instead of what I really should be doing, but just can't be bothered.

I've decided that I'm just going to accept it's gone for now and not even bother to look for it until Monday at the very earliest.

grandtanteJE65 Thu 30-Dec-21 14:14:27

Why don't you all take a couple of days off?

Celebrate the New Year by seeing how little you need to do to stay alive!

Get up late, make some food, eat it, dress take dog for walk (if applicable) or if not clean the cat's tray, then go back to bed or curl up somewhere else nice and warm with a book.

DH got up this morning, made coffee which we drank, scrolled through the news on his computer giving me a running commentary (much appreciated as I can't read it unless standing slap bang in front of screen) and by the time I had washed up and was ready to go shopping, he had curled up on the sofa under his mohair tarten plaid, sound asleep. Slept all the time I was out, plus 1 hour. Got up, took a shower and is now asleep again.

Enjoy hibernating and a Happy New Year when it comes!

I’ve decided to go to bed for an hour with some hot lemon and a book. I’ll behave as though I’ve got a cold and can look after myself, rather than clean the utility ?

I have actually bestirred myself to strip the turkey (stock is on the hob) and put some washing on, but now I’m going to collapse on the sofa with my Kindle. Can’t even be bothered to knit at the mo

Read that.
Tired now! grin

MayBee70 Thu 30-Dec-21 13:01:41

I’m glad it’s not just me. It doesn’t help having a couch potato of a dog, either….

VioletSky Thu 30-Dec-21 12:55:24

My get up and go has also got up and gone.

I'm not enjoying these days where I wake up and discover I've done myself a back injury in my sleep.

This is not logical, I didn't even dream so I can't have been sleepwalking or sleep lifting heavy objects?

Heket Thu 30-Dec-21 12:49:30

I’m thoroughly enjoying the absence of my get up and go.

I’m being eco friendly not running machines until January 3rd - and supporting local independent takeaways!

Caring for two feline overlords and binge watching, bliss!!

Shall have to walk up to the postbox later, though, to post my PCR test - dh is positive, ditto many we saw over Christmas. I think I’ve probably got it too despite negative LFTs - feel more tired than usual, cold symptoms and felt really cold and fluey the other day.
Enjoy your hibernation, everybody - I hope you’ve got plenty of Christmas chocs left to sweeten it!

BlueSky Thu 30-Dec-21 12:37:35

BlueBalou yes hopefully we’ll perk up in the spring! smile

Grandmagrim Thu 30-Dec-21 12:33:25

I just want to hibernate and not wake up again until April or May 2023

Soroptimum Thu 30-Dec-21 12:30:22

My get up and go has got up and gone too. Waiting for the new year (why?) to stop drinking as much, stop eating as much and generally move about more. Photo of my son’s dog Chico ☺️

TillyTrotter Thu 30-Dec-21 11:27:27

Happy Birthday muse ? ?

BlueBalou Thu 30-Dec-21 11:17:15

My get up and get got up and went sometime ago!
I do walk the dog and get the housework done but I have no enthusiasm for doing anything beyond that. I don’t like the winter anyway so probably a touch of SAD going on here. Add a very stressful miserable year to that and I don’t think it’s surprising so many of us feel that way.
Be kind to yourselves, spring will come and hopefully our spirits will rise.

Chewbacca Thu 30-Dec-21 11:00:17

I'm due to be meeting a friend for lunch, in a town 10 miles away, in 2 hours. Not even showered and dressed yet. blush
