Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s grey and dull but not raining yet.
Off for some shopping and a walk in my nearest town this morning then settle down with a book and my knitting later. No plans for NYE celebrations.
Wishing everyone a happy new year.

Good Morning Friday 31st December 2021 (New Years Eve)
(91 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Up early its dark with maybe rain soon , today small local shop , I have plans to go to Bicester and have a breakfast bap as per usual Saturday ,and eat later .
There is a party in the building tonight , but it will be quiet .
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning from a damp and soggy Black Country.
Mum had wax removed from her ear at Spec Savers yesterday, so her hearing aid now sits correctly and no longer squeals. The NHS now longer do this, so she had to pay £50 and wait 3 weeks for this appointment.
No real plans today. We usually go out for NYE but for the 2nd year running we will stay at home and cook a special meal. Hopefully go for a walk this afternoon if it stays dry as predicted.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2022
Morning Mick, morning All. You’ve guessed it, grey skies over our corner of Somerset with drizzle
Quiet day here yesterday and ahead today.
Thinking of you all, especially those with worries or health issues along with a wish for a happy, peaceful and healthy new year.
Good morning all from East Yorkshire where there it is dry and there are streaks of blue in the sky.
A lovely day yesterday celebrating GS birthday. In the evening I watched the film Judy on TV. I remember a friend going to see it at the cinema and she was disappointed in it but I enjoyed it. Such a tragic life but it really came across how much she loved her children.
Nothing planned for today we are getting lazier and more lethargic as the week goes by. I have an order to collect from M&S but it isn’t urgent.
Again nothing planned for tonight I feel as if I’ve done with the years of partying on NYE. All I hope for all of us is a better
year.
Happy New Year to you all.
Good morning from another dreary, drab and dismal day in Essex by the sea.
DH has gone to his boat, I shall potter and prepare some vegetables to make soup for dinner.
Tomorrow I am going to DD2's house for a few days. Youngest granddaughter is 4 on Tuesday and is having her party on Sunday. She is so excited.
I booked tickets for us to go and see Lord of the Dance at our local theatre for next June, something to look forward to.
I wish everyone the very best for 2022, lets hope that this next year is far better than the previous two.
Gransnet has been a lifeline for so many of us in these uncertain times. Love, laughter, friendship and commiserations. Thank you everyone xxx
A damp good morning from S Hants with the default grey skies, unnaturally mild.
No big plans today, a walk later to our local for an early drink and midnight we’ll share with Jools.
A Happy and Healthy New Year to you all.
Good morning all,
It’s dry for the moment, but there are ominous black clouds looming in the distance. I think we’re in for yet another grey day.
Here’s hoping that 2022 brings better things. Enjoy this last day of December 2021, whatever your plans.
Good Morning from a damp NE Hants. Nothing much planned to-day apart from a quick shop for top ups of washing up liquid and laundry liquid from our Eco General store and as always when I go there I fins another little treasure to use, that should please Greta T.
OH needs to collect a prescription up from the Chemist after his long telephone consultation yesterday with the GP. I have mixed feelings about these non-face to face appointments but so far, this system has worked really well for us. Number 1 daughter has tonsillitis which has most of the omicron symptoms but her GP again did a telephone consultation and prescribed her anti biotics and assured her it will clear up in a week or so. Hope so as she is having her bathroom re-modelled next week and will have no running water for a couple of days. Then she stars a new job second week of Jan. all a bit concerning but she sails through it all with a great determination. Gotta love her
Good morning Mick and all from a dull and damp northwest coast. DD and DS left now and off to buy some essential provisions. Glad to have a bit of ordinary life back. House front still being painted. Feel tired after the Christmas clamour but shoulder not too painful. TV aerial plating up, something else to add to the list.
Also popping round to a friend with birthday card and gift, was able to palm off a tin of shortbread nobody likes on the painter who does.
All the best for 22.
Good morning Mick and everyone from a wet and dismal Oxfordshire, just a normal day here today, but MissOops, nephew and dog will be here tomorrow for the day after viewing their (hopefully) new rental, they hate to leave the house they are in but at least this new one is nicer, then after tomorrow we will be going over to help them start to pack, even if the house tomorrow isn’t suitable they still have to be out in 6 weeks.
So Marydoll I hope that 2022 brings you better health and that all other GNers have a Happy and Healthy 2022.
Good morning from a very wet Leicestershire.
I saw someone knocked off his bike just near us yesterday which upset me.
We were invited to see friends this evening but have decided to stay home. We will stay up though to be with the dog when the fireworks start.
Let’s hope 2022 is a better year.
Pleased to hear Dollie is able to visit you today Marydoll. Non stop chatter no doubt as she brings you up to date with all her news. ?
I do like the sentiment on your card Pittcity, sums it up really after the turmoil of the last two years. ?
Good morning all from a so far dry and warm South Yorkshire. Grandkids stayed overnight and have only just got up! Not sure what's happening... It used to be a 7am start but I'm enjoying it while it lasts. No plans for new year but wishing you all a much better 2022 ?
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning. Lots of rain overnight but it has stopped at the moment . Sounds quite breezy outside.
We have two friends coming this evening for dinner. Not too much work as they are bringing starters and pudding. I have prepared a beef bourguignonne and will do cheese and coffee. A far cry from the big crazy parties we used to have.
Hope everyone can find a smile today.
Good morning Michael and all GNs from a dry but grey South Yorkshire. DD, SiL and GS are coming over this afternoon for a walk and then tea. They will see in the New Year at home as we rarely manage to stay awake that long these days.
I wish you all a happy, healthy and peaceful 2022!??
Good morning all from a soggy Glasgow. It’s still very dark outside and like you grandM, I am checking every minute of extra daylight but if I hear DH say one more time, ‘it will soon be spring’, I will gag him. ?
I am itching to get back to pottering about in the garden. I had a wander around making a mental note of what will need tidying and noticed the squirrels have dug up tulip bulbs in a couple of pots. Grr! As it was dry yesterday, I took the opportunity to attack the cardboard mountain in the garage, one of GD2’s favourite things at ours so I collected her as promised and we both set to with the incinerator, once done, we roasted chestnuts then she had a game of chess with DH. A happy day with our little ray of sunshine.
My Hogmanay wish is what all will be wishing for, back to a bit of normality for 2022. ??
Wishing everyone a good day and hoping those feeling down with worries of any description, find something to lift their spirits.
Good morning on this last morning of 2021. Woke to heavy rain on the roof of our little cottage, it is a converted little barn so very little roof space, hence the sound of the rain. I will be walking the dog as usual and lighting the fire later. Thats the extent of the NY celebrations! I hope for happiness, peace and good health in 2022 for you all.
Good morning all from a very wet and grey North Leicestershire. It is getting boring now!
Not much on the cards - more looking at paint colours for the bedroom.
There is a popular pub at the top of our road so we will, no doubt, be woken by revellers wending (and wobbling!!) their way home.
Happy New Year to everyone.
Goood morning from a wet bleak Yorkshire. Makes you fed up before you even put the kettle on for your morning cuppa !
Today im looking after my 2 youngest GC while my DD works, she is bringing them across in about ½hr and upstairs zzzzzz is my eldest GD.
Later on today ( maybe tea time ish ) myself hubby and GD are driving to a country pub ( two a penny round here ) with an open fire and having a drink, an early welcome to the New Year.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
Good Morning all, from a rainy Glasgow. Thank you for the smile, Fanny.
We have an enormous Morrisons order this morning, mainly due to the fact that I've not been out and the cupboards and fridge are bare of essentials. Add to that, DD's continually added to list and I think we may have bought half the shop! ☺
She is banned from adding to the list electronically. The last time she did it, my bank flagged it up as fraudulent activity and blocked my card! IT systems are so sophisticated nowadays and rightly so.
Thankfully, DD and SIL are coming up to deal with the delivery, when it arrives.
GM, thank you for your kind words. I am struggling badly just now, there seems to be no respite from this ongoing poor health and consequently low mood. RA is such an evil condition, mine unfortunately is unmanageable at the moment.
Please forgive me for not being my usual upbeat and resilient self recently. I am not seeking sympathy, that's not my way, I just need to explain why I have withdrawn from much of life and GN at the moment.
My precious wee Dollie is at last out of isolation and is coming to see us today. It will be a short visit, as she will also need to go next door to visit grannie and grampa and I am ? at having to share her! ? I may not let her go!
We have always had a Hogmanay street get together, since we all moved here at Christmas twenty eight years ago. Its not the drunken party, as some think Scots do at Hogmanay, it was always a chance to catch up with people, because we all worked. There would be food, singing, games and the inevitable quiz!
Some of us had been friends, long before we moved, so it was always something we looked forward to.
I'm actually relieved that we haven't been able to do so, since it was my turn to be hostess with the mostess! It will be an early night for us!
It has been an awful year for some of our Gransnetters and I hope the coming year brings some measure of peace and acceptance.
However, there have been some highs too, news of long awaited meet ups with families, new babies and weddings, which have brought great joy, both to those involved and we on here, who get to hear of these happy events.
Thank you to those on here, who have both laughed and cried with me in the past year. To all my lovely virtual friends, especially those who are finding life so difficult, I raise a glass, non alcoholic, unfortunately, slainthe! ?
Dark here in Cheshire.
Seems like Covid has been with us for ever and another New Year about to begin.
Friends coming to visit today and another group tomorrow.
I wish everyone the very best for 2022 .
Good morning everyone from DD1 house in Cambridge where it’s just getting light but raining.
We arrived yesterday after a good easy journey and had a really lovely evening playing with DGS and watching a film. DD made a yummy lasagne and we enjoyed Prosecco cocktails later.
The two DGS age 4 and 7 have just arrived in our bedroom to see if we’re awake so DH has taken them downstairs for weetabix whilst I’m enjoying my first tea of the day in bed
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning all and it’s very dark but still and dry here in Essex.
Yesterday, our recovered Covid family came for the afternoon. They were so pleased to be out after their Christmas isolation. They were supposed to host Boxing Day and had prepared for the whole family to be there. Such a shame - deja vu from last year.
This afternoon I will have little dgd again as mum is once more heading for the hospital. Hopefully the infection is on its way out and she won’t have to stay in again! ?. It’s amazing how cheerful she keeps! ❤️
We won’t meet up with our Friday gang so no NY celebrations for us. We are usually at our seaside cottage and stand in the garden , looking out to sea , listening to far off fireworks , with a glass of something and toast the moon ?.and stars ?✨. Nature is such a boost to the soul and it always gives us a lovely start to the new year.
Happy New Year to you all and good health! ?
