Am trying to get into a fresh new positive start to 2022 which my mind and my heavy body need..what do you think about detoxing either food and/or drink when still have festive goodies to eat up..don't believe in wasting food etc..need help..

Eat it all up in smaller helpings or freeze it where possible. Health versus pocketbook. Your call.

You could always put stuff in the food bank, that way it’s not wasted.

Seem to have items not freezable ..and had given boxes of biscuits both savoury and sweet to elderly friend last week but seem to have purchased triple of everything and that includes prosecco..my weaknessgrin! Maybe thought would be self isolating as many close families are covid infected..

The idea that your body needs 'detoxing' is just medical/beauty mythmaking. Your kidneys and liver do the job very effectively.

Just eat up all the Chirstmas goodies and then eat simply and lightly for a week, so that your biome can recover from Christmas excesses. Nothing else is needed.

Monica I love this advice…

Does your advice include the prosecco? smile

anything that isn't opened (like biscuits) give away. I don't detox. I've found if I am less strict with myself and just watch portion control and try to walk/stay on feet as much as possible I lose weight slower but it stays off

The only thing I Detox is sugar. I think that counts as it seems to take a while to recover from sugar highs and lows.

Seems message to self: don’t overbuy next Christmas.

Bea65 Tue 04-Jan-22 18:21:15

Urmstongran..As i said believed would be self isolating and unable to get out..

Not.
You have a liver and kidneys plus all those other bits inside which are designed to remove any toxins from your system, I believe within a matter of hours.
All these “Detox” products are an expensive scam.
How about just cutting out alcohol (except one night if you go out) and cutting down on carbs while at the same time increasing your fresh fruit and veggies?
You could try freezing some of the leftovers eg cheese, but surely any meat or Christmas edibles are pretty stale by now.
Lock the chocs away and ration yourself to one a day.
The alcohol will keep.

Thinking of more herbal teas like Matcha..have you tried these or alternatives?

Jaxjacky Tue 04-Jan-22 20:45:41

As others have said, give away or freeze, what you can’t safely eat, I can’t imagine there’s much, bin.
If it won’t go off, save it, like Prosecco.

I really think February is a better idea for a diet cleanse!

I too have lots of nice Christmas snacks to enjoy. I am not too bad at portion control, so will have a treat as my dessert after dinner, but they will last me well into the first few weeks of January.

Try portion control for sweets/drinks, and lots of veg and fruit. By all means add herbal tea, it can't hurt. I do agree with others that the 'detox' cleanse with supplements and expensive powders is a bit of a scam.

Just been watching a tv programme abut the truth and lies of dieting. One of the myths was detoxing. They said what I said, we can leave detoxxing to our kidneys and liver. All we need to do is eat sensibly.
